BBU SUMMER GRUDGE SESSIONS VOL. 4
(from Wembley Arena, London)
(Frankie's Foxes vs Lioness Club)

BEFORE: Leigh-Anne Pinnock enjoyed a solid start to her BBU career when she knocked Keisha Buchanan out last December but that hardly impresses Nadine Coyle who revived her underdog status by racking up four wins in the last five fights including a brutal destruction of Pinnock's Little Mix bandmate, Perrie Edwards in the proccess. While Coyle thinks she can destroy the entire Little Mix roster, a fight with Jade Thirlwall remains out of the reach until she can handle the otherwise highly touted Pinnock first to leave Thirlwall with no case to argue.
This is a grudge clash alright, despite Girls Aloud ceasing operations, Nadine will always remind everyone left active which band was indeed the most successful in UK over the past twenty years and since even Spice Girls are under fire, the Little Mix bunch is destined to suffer permanent mocking abuse from the Ulster born singer. However Pinnock responds in a similar fashion and claims to "send Coyle back to her jobber friends" and lets everyone know that "Cheryl Cole was twice as pretty and three times the singer Coyle hopes to be". Ouch!
Again, there's no touching gloves during the introductions and Leigh Anne tries to blow one into Nadine's face even before the opening bell which ignites immediate feud in the two corners. Leigh Anne is supported by Jesy Nelson who still displays bruises from her recent loss to Ellie Goulding while Kimberley Walsh acts as Nadine's cutman and personal trainer with the regular Lioness Club coach Gina Wild busy working extra gym drill with Jeanatte Biedermann back in Germany.
Leigh Anne Pinnock wears a black basque top, silver knickers and gloves. Nadine Coyle wears a red basque top, white knickers and red gloves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1: Both girls tear into each other from the opening bell and this was perhaps expected by everyone inside the Wembley Arena as the loud smacks off each face lifts the crowd on their feet seconds into the fight. Pinnock goes all in like there's no tomorrow and mounts the more effective attack early as she outworks the blonde with measured hooks that stack up against the eyes and root Nadine to the spot despite plenty of counterpunching effort that digs well into Leigh Anne's cheeks as well. The opening minute is all about knocking as much leather into the other girl's face and Pinnock wins that battle reeling Nadine on her heels and leaving the first bruises already; few years back Coyle would have exited this exchange in a hurry but right now she wants to halt the younger singer's antics and refuses to back away which earns her more trouble in the second minute. Pinnock drills into the blonde's face like she was a 20 fight BBU veteran and Coyle was in only her second clash and the crowd can only admire the work rate of the brunette who clobbers the Irish foe into the opposite corner and dominates the final minute wholesale sending Nadine's head rocking back & forth until the bell saves the Girls Aloud camp from a complete disaster. Even Kimberley Walsh looks totally shocked by this epic performance from the Little Mix singer.
Round 2: Leigh Anne wants to resume the blonde's punishment from the onset again and rips into Nadine's body to ignore the high guard which quickly proves useless in wake of the swift target area change. Coyle gets rooted to the spot in the middle of the ring and soaks up the midriff leather before finally mounting a response over the top that catches Pinnock on the eyes but doesn't halt her charge whatsover. Another classic punchfest is no longer a viable option for Nads who must revert to some quick feet to break her opponent's rhythm and here's where the experience finally shows and helps the Irish girl to survive more menacing punches. Pinnock struggles to put more power behind her efforts in mid range but has enough mind presence not to jump all over the ring in a fruitless pursuit and settles down allowing Nadine to catch some respite. The judges still favor the bullying presence of the brunette as she shuts Coyle off into more avoiding circles and the rounds concludes with Jesy Nelson shouting some abuse at Kimberley Walsh in the opposite corner and Nadine still shaking her head in disbelief.
Round 3: More duck & weave from the blonde who doesn't want to go through the opening round nightmare anymore but Leigh Anne keeps stalking her with a high assault and lands single hand punches on the face to maintain her bullying attire. Nadine tries to duck low and set up something on the guts but eats a quick hook on the temple and barely escapes from a follow up half-uppercut on the chin before stepping to the side again. A couple of teasing jabs miss the target and Leigh Anne jumps into another jabbing frenzy, this time she catches the fellow singer cold on the nose and riffles that desired uppercut to send Coyle tripping over into the ropes where she traps her with more jabbing assault and keeps pounding along until the high guard collapses and earns Nadine more lumps on both cheeks; the Irish blonde slumps badly on her knees as the clock expires and it's a classic throwback to her early BBU days when she was such a hot mess in popular demand!
Round 4: Pinnock is visibly pumped up before the fourth and storms out of her stool again but for once she misses the initial approach and wobbles into a looping set of jabs that crashes into her face and enables Coyle to finally show some skill in the opening minute. The Girls Aloud fanbase is back alive in the audience and the head snapping combo rocks Pinnock onto her heels before a heavy cross hook tears some skin off the nasal ridge and has the brunette covering up in desperate earmuff. Now it's time to buckle up as Coyle slams a hooking galore trying to dismantle that defence and Leigh Anne's footwork doesn't come to her rescue and the one way pounding sends her butt-in-ropes down the stretch; a lame effort to break the Irish heat goes wayward and results in Nadine sticking a quick uppercut on the chin which removes any aggressive ideas from the brunette's mind. Jesy Nelson doesn't look so joyful in the Little Mix corner anymore as she has to watch her bandmate soaking up more Coyle assault late in the round that finally gets the blonde on the scorecards after a terrible start.
Round 5: Angry discussion in the Little Mix corner before the fifth; the tactics stays the same though and has Leigh Anne jumping into the blonde's path only to meet a crunching hook on the nose that inflicts more damage on the cut nasal ridge. Nadine's back in groove and rips more leather into the brunette's face that renders her bullying approach meaningless and results in more Girls Aloud joy as the round goes by. Pinnock struggles to break the older girl's rhythm and has to cover up whereas Coyle shows no signs of gassing out and runs away with sheer ammount of punches catching the fellow singer between the mitts. Leigh Anne doesn't wobble into a hectic escape but allows too many punches to crash into her face and sinks visibly low on her knees come the final minute with Jesy Nelson out of ideas to turn this one around for the time being. Nadine's too quick and too agile on her feet to let the brunette off the hook but she can't quite punish that wounded nasal ridge before the bell anymore and reverts into a late flurry on the ribcage that leaves Pinnock yelping and bawling her eyes out in pain.
Round 6: Pinnock is much slower to start the sixth and there's a change in her approach which actually meets an improved effort from Coyle who rips into her body giving her no time to catch any respite whatsoever. Hard slaps around the liver area mark the brunette's retreat but the agility's not on her side at all and Nads has no trouble with sticking repeated leather into where it hurts Leigh Anne the most. The younger singer bends awkwardly a couple of times and the bullying now becomes the blonde's way to go as she pounds the tiring brunette all over the ring and teases her into any kind of surge before knocking more punches up high and leaving bruises around each of Pinnock's eyes. Coyle's almost too flamboyant in her antics come the final minute and misses a couple of easy hooks but Pinnock prefers to clinch her instead of riffling any punches of her own, a sign that perhaps she still hasn't recovered from those two terrible rounds and needs more time to regain her original fight plans. What's up with the Irish singer though? She looks unmoved and simply bumps the brunette off after the bell and shares a cheeky smile with Kimba in the corner which leaves a lot of fans and pundits puzzled.
Round 7: There's a commotion in Pinnock's corner as her stable manager Frankie Cocozza finally enters the fray barging Jesy Nelson out of the way with a passionate kiss in the proccess. Apparently he was busy consolling Perrie Edwards - who recently split from her long-time boyfriend - and didn't make it on time for Leigh Anne's fight here. He immediately orders Pinnock to blast Coyle senseless and the trigger happy action resumes with both girls keen to chop each other down again. Leigh Anne seems to have caught a second wind with Frankie in her corner and she sticks a series of jabs into Nadine's eyes to leave visible swelling come the second minute. Coyle's too eager to work on that nasal cut and only regains some control when she switches on the guts and pierces the brunette's ribcage to halt her charge. There's no breakthrough for remainder of the round as both girls accidentally clash heads in the third minute and prefer to remain in a clinching stalemate despite Nadine sending more blows to the ribs to stay on top of that late exchange.
Round 8: Pinnock drives forward earning significant praise from Denise van Outen in the booth given it's only her second bout to date and she sends a flurry of punches aimed at Coyle's bruised face but the Frankie Cocozza led game plan backfires as the precision isn't there to cause the Irish singer any trouble and the sheer ammount of effort is quickly toppled by a heavy left hand on the liver that sinks Leigh Anne on jelly knees and bends her to the side resulting in more blows from the Girls Aloud member. Nadine responds with a jabbing menace on the body and removes more air from her rival's lungs to the point Pinnock has to seek a clinching respite but gets pummelled back to the ropes instead. Nadine leans on her and shuts her off in close range, the experience begins to show once more and Leigh Anne offers nothing back in the closing seconds basically giving the round away through exhaustion however Coyle is sweating like crazy there too and needs to have her hair adjusted after the bell by a very vocal Kimba who tells her bandmate that "Pinnock is done here!" Let's wait and see if she's right...
Round 9: It's been a gruesome contest that still hasn't seen a single knockdown which speaks a lot about Pinnock's resistance against the high flying Irish competitor but the planned Coyle charge crashes off the high guard and in fact the blonde jars her left hand badly when she aims for another midriff switch. There's a loud yelp coming from the blonde's mouth but her footwork and agility remains superior so even when Leigh Anne notices something's wrong with the fellow singer, she can't quite track her down across the canvas and wastes a lot of precious energy in a fruitless pursuit before she realizes that Nadine has no intentions to attack her and visibly saves the left hand keeping it close to her thigh amid another river of sweat and a painful look in her eyes. The crowd also becomes aware of the problem and once the clock expires everyone in the Wembley Arena begins to think whether the brunette can still nick that potentially decisive knockdown to upset the Nads & Kimba party?
Round 10: Nadine fears she's broken her wrist hitting that punch straight into Leigh Anne's pelvic bone and sure enough, the Little Mix brunette is on a rampage in the tenth seeking swift destruction of an one-hand active blonde. Coyle has the footwork to the rescue and avoids the rather sluggish moving foe time after time with plenty of Pinnock's punches scything the air and making no impression on the Irish vixen. Punch and miss, punch and miss, Nadine doesn't even bother with an attack anymore and lets Leigh Anne run out of gas come the second minute before ripping a right hand on the wounded nose to stun her on jelly knees yet again, it's almost all over for Frankie Cocozza's faithful but a follow up never comes since Coyle can't use her left hand at all and even when Pinnock stumbles back to the ropes she's spared a vulture attack demise and Nadine prefers to stay back with her left arm repeatedly rested on her thigh... there's nothing left to give from both girls in the final minute, Leigh Anne's on empty tank and Nadine just dances around fuelling Cocozza's frustration... but he can do nothing about it anymore and even with Coyle being injured this fight heads to the scorecards... Pinnock collapses on her knees at the bell and Nadine groans out into Kimba's arms looking more relieved that satisfied this contest is finally over... Comes back UD10 Nadine Coyle!!!
AFTER: Both girls are physically finished but offer themselves a long embrace which doesn't go down well with Frankie C. who quickly blames Jesy Nelson for the lack of proper tactics in the opening rounds. The poor fella probably never saw how well Leigh Anne actually did in the early stages and the entire fight has a come-from-behind victory for Nads written all over it...
Charlie Webster conducts the interviews and Nadine's first in line: "Oh yeah, that was really, really tough! Probably my toughest BBU win to date. I started out slow and almost got rocked out of my sense but when I damaged her nose I stuck my foot in the door and never let go afterwards. But still, I can't believe she stayed upright during the whole thing! She's the real deal. Watch out for her soon! I know Jade Thirlwall gets all the front pages these days but heck, she should stick to punching Cheryl Cole's face into a pulp! Stay clear of me, ####! Or else you're gonna be WRECKED!!! Well, wrecked after I get the X Ray results on my wrist.. it hurts a ton right now but hey, I still WON this fight! Tee Hee!!!"
On the other hand, Leigh Anne's a little downbeat despite showing plenty of skill in only her second BBU contest: "Forget about the result. I showed everyone why I was signed by Frankie's team and why I will get more fights really soon! Sure, Jade is the leader right now but with Amelia Lily Oliver and Perrie Edwards really under the cosh, who else is there to save the team? Nadine got lucky I was away for eight months. Give me four bouts more and I'll knock her lights out in a rematch! Because we will have a rematch sooner than she knows it! One can't simply bust up my nose and get away with it! Thankfully I avoided a bloody demise here but she got a little too close with that one! Next time she won't be singing that wrist injury excuse! Mark my words!"
Final result: Nadine Coyle def. Leigh-Anne Pinnock UD10.
