TESS VALMORE
PELTZ/BENNETT Peltz managed to survive the first round as she was repeatedly rocked by Bennett. She not only survived, but went on to take the second and third rounds. After that, it was all Bennett who took round four and hurt Peltz in round five. In round six, Bennett floored Peltz who managed to beat the count. She didn’t last much longer as Bennett pounded her at will until the referee stopped the fight
SHAYK/ARTERTON Shayk wanted to use her feet and fight from a distance while Arterton wanted to fight in close. They both had some success as the bout was even at the end of four. In the fifth, Arterton pursuing Shayk reversed and caught Shayk with a straight right that left the Russian out cold on the deck
HADID/KESHA Hadid looked very good early in the bout taking four of the first five rounds including a fourth round knockdown to open a big lead. If she could win one more round, she would most likely get the decision. It didn’t happen. Kesha took control in round six winning the round. She had Hadid hurt in round seven and floored her in round eight. Hadid need a knockdown in the tenth to win but she didn’t get it and Kesha pulled out a one point decision
RAFFERTY/TORV The general perception was that Rafferty had no chance against Torv. I don’t know if she did better than expected or Torv needed rounds. In any event, the bout was even at the end of four and even again at the end of six. In the seventh, Torv caught Rafferty with a right hand counter and Rafferty went down for the count. What kind of future does Rafferty have in the FCBA at the age of 42? My guess is none
DEL REY/PINK I don’t know much about Del Rey but I understand she is a singer. I don’t know who the better singer is, but I know who the better fighter is and it isn’t Del Rey. Pink took three of the first four rounds. Del Rey closed the lead gap by taking the fifth. The sixth round was a little sloppy when Pink landed an uppercut and followed up with a left hook that ended the fight
DE LA GARZA/RUAH Bazz has been a thorn in Front Street’s Asylum’s success. I wondered in Daniela could turn it around. The fight was close as the two were even at the end of four. I must admit I missed some of the fifth listening to McCarthy’s Santa Claus rant, however the round went De La Garza’s way as did the sixth, giving her a good lead. Ruah hurt De La Garza in the seventh closing the lead. In the eighth, Ruah managed to claim a Front Street sweep by dropping De La Garza for the count with an overhand right.
