BEFORE: Charley Webb was blasted out by Shona McGarty back in January but plans to rescue her BBU career by accepting Team Canada's challenge to revive Emilie Ullerup's prospects which never got another push following an emphatic victory over Louisa Lytton last December. Denise van Outen believes that Lily Collins has an eye on both of these two while booking the Lytton fight herself and there were strong rumours about Webb/Collins being already signed up for months only for Charley to think better off it after Lily's upset victory over former flyweight champion Emily Atack.
Charley Webb wears a black sports bra, red knickers and matching gloves. Long blonde hair in loose curls. Emilie Ullerup wears a black bikini set and white gloves with a red maple leaf painted on them. Long blonde hair straight, tucked behind the ears. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1:
Charley's up for some early Canadian head hunting and she does exceptionally well to freeze Emilie in the middle of the ring with high jabbing that outworks the older blonde and bumps her on the heels after the ammount of punches begins to stack up against her face. Ullerup ducks & weaves under the onslaught but allthough she loses this exchange, she avoids the really big punches and clinches the aggressive English actress to halt the rout. More offence from Charley gives her another edge after they resume; she cross hooks the guard and tags Ems on the nose before driving up her breasts for a good measure. Ullerup has to retreat again and spends remainder of the round in a slightly hectic escape.
Round 2:
Webb's clearly encouraged by that start and leaps after the fellow blonde with more high jabbing but Ullerup adjusts her footwork and shows impressive movement for a 5'5" tall flyweight. She makes Charley miss through the minute mark before settling into single handed counterpunching effort that stalls Webb's progress. Both girls look a little rusty and ineffective as time goes by; Webb's hardly a prospect in demand according to van Outen but she shows enough resilience to try and nail the Danish-Canadian on the face again however she fails to break through the guard and gets clinched along the ropes which lets the clock expire.
Round 3:
Charley's the more agile of the two to start the third but she lacks accuracy required to throw Ems off her comfort zone; the slightly longer reach is withheld for the older blonde who prefers to weather whatever Webb has in store and despite plenty of high jabbing, it's a largely one-dimensional tactics that brings the English actress no real success. She pauses briefly after bouncing off the guard repeatedly and only then gets caught by a quick overhand as Ems moves on the front leg and begins to stalk the statesque opponent. Not enough speed across the boards for Webb to save her from a vicious one-two hit on the temples that reels her onto the ropes but clock comes to the rescue just as Ullerup was eyeing a late rally to finally knock some leather into the English girl.
Round 4:
Ullerup ups her fighting gear a notch and finally outworks the determined albeit ineffective English opponent; Webb sends in plenty upstairs but hardly bothers with the gut check and is handed one by the Danish-Canadian who rips into her liver area and sends back into the ropes with a scowling dismay. Webb tries to punch back from the ropes but remains glued to the spot and cuts thin air before getting ravaged on the body with Ems thumping her from both sides and leaning on the front leg again. It looks like the older blonde is back into her stride after so many months away from the ring and she puts immediate heat on the younger opponent; Webb has to clinch herself to safety but the truth is, she didn't even land a single power punch this round and Denise van Outen can't ignore that cheeky smile on Ullerup's face when the round concludes.
Round 5:
BIG PUNCH EMS!!! Immediate strike off the bell nails Webb on the chin and wobbles her low on her knees with arms dropped to the side... cue in some follow up uppercuts that punish the rack and reel Charley onto the ropes covering up high.... Ems lashes on her midsection to harpoon the liver area and now the squeals finally dump the younger actress into escape mode, she tries to lift her head and punch back from behind the guard but gets smacked with another uppercut on the chin that opens the path for a left/right riffle combo on the eyes... Webb trembles on the spot as her guard goes AWOL... Left hand on the chin knocks her head back and a measured hook on the temple completes the turnaround... DOWN GOES CHARLEY!!!! The proud English girl hits the deck on her left side and rolls onto her back as Ems struts back to her corner with a big smile on her face... Webb refuses to depart the Wembley Arena just yet but is slow to get up at seven and looks shaken up badly... she is allowed to continue but Ullerup hits the turbo button and buries her under a high jabbing barrage that ices poor Charley out along the ropes... loud scowls from the embattled Brit but she's got little response in her and when she tries to open up to spike the Canadian with a Hail Mary-like punch, Ullerup sinks her with a crushing uppercut to the jaw and then adds another hook on the right eye... WEBB TAKES A KNEE!!! Almost a submission move from the younger blonde who desperately needs time to reover from all this Canadian heat... ref gives her the standard eight count but warns her that another knockdown will seal her fate... the clock expires just in time to prevent Emilie from more inroads and she keeps that big smile on her face while Charley is lost at sea now.
Round 6:
Webb has enough courage in her to avoid quitting on her stool but Ullerup seeks that premature finish and has no trouble with freezing out the sluggish opponent midring again; a couple of harpoons on the ribcage root Charley to the spot and the guard can't stop an uppercut rush that wobbles her on the heels and has Emilie thumping facial leather from both sides thereafter... the head snaps back & forth and Webb slumps low on her knees unable to get anything back anymore and allows the Canadian to beat her into a standstill... AND THE REF CHARGES IN!!! He hauls Ems off her prey before Charley is knocked out of her senses!!! TKO6 Emilie Ullerup!!!
AFTER: That was a much needed victory for the largely anonymous Team Canada but it remains to be seen whether Emilie Ullerup impressed her peers to warrant a regular boxing schedule in the upcoming months. Allthough Lily Collins has woved to beat her up that's as much as Denise van Outen can confirm and even the Canadian blonde herself rules out a rematch versus the high flying Nadine Coyle who once so famously upset her with a brutal attack to the body. That was the old Coyle Vol. 1, pretty much as lacklustre as Charley Webb was tonight.
The battered English blonde must be escorted to her corner and she took quite a pounding here in the Wembley Arena which could have been even worse if only Ullerup didn't actually arrive in combat mode late in the third round. Webb's prospects remain blurred and if she wants to further duck Lily Collins, that's a very sensible idea according to Denise van Outen. However this might permanently damage her reputation as a serious fighter, an ill-advised strategy at age 27. Tough decisions ahead for the Kear's Kats entourage!
Final result: Emilie Ullerup def. Charley Webb TKO6.
