Before: Hungry, hungry blondes glove it up with a title on the line - Claire eager to fill the void left by stablemate Eliza D - Packard anxious to return to prominence. Danes made her reputation with an upsest win over Packard, a fight Kelly acknowledges as a 'low point' in her career. Packard on a 'hard punching' kick these days, but when asked about a stoppage of Danes, Kelly is equivocal, "I believe I will stop Claire, but not before I've outboxed her. Just because I'm hitting harder doesn't mean I'm not the best technical fighter in boxing. That's a lesson Clare needs to relearn." Kelly in mauve athletic bikini, bra style top, white shoes and gloves, Danes in navy beach volleyball style bikini.

During R1: Packard with her dukes up, dragging that left foot in a bucket, trying to swoop in off the jab and hook at Danes' lower left side. Clare with a closed stance, chin tucked behind the left shoulder, right hand at her cheek, left held low - she's pivoting left, batting that hook off her hip, stamping lead right hands to Kelly's chest - it's classy tit for tat sharpshooting early. Down the stretch, Clare wants it more - she surprises Kelly with a sweeping left on the teeth, then pounds up the middle with a hard right cross, clipping Packard chin and sending the former champ reeling at the bell.

R2: More nip and tuck boxing, both girls doing most of the heavy lifting with hooks and jabs, very choosy right hands being thrown. Danes looking for the perfect counter punch too much - Kelly's outworking her and getting off first in the final minute to edge out the round.

R3: Danes sniping at Packard's midsection with slapping rights and a firm digging left - really biting it in underneath Kelly's protective elbows. Packard doing a nice job mixing it up to body and head - girls trading 2 and 3 bunch bursts, very low clean connect percentage. Down the stretch, Danes startles Packard again with power - a cute shoulder feint sets up a booming overhand right - Clare ducking in and down with shot, giving a dazed Kelly a hard shoulder nudge in the belly to get Packard stumbling backwards again. Danes realizing too late how badly hurt Kelly is - bell sounds as Packard wobbles uncertainly mid ring as Clare fails to follow up.

R4: Packard shakes off the damage, gets back on top with her pool cue stick, finding Clare's face more often as Danes crouches, pivots, looks for counter right hands. Both girls starting to shine up nice - Packard from Danes surprising power right hands - Clare from Packard's consistent jab and biting combinations.

R5: Pendulum swings back in Clare's favour. She's been beating Kelly with power to steal rounds, but this time Danes clearly outworks her foe in a series of crisp exchanges all around the ring. Girls tracking each other down with double jabs, then stepping in with rangy hooks and chopping rights - whippet bodies leaning in and back, slender arms raking and batting away - both girls sacrificing a little D to start ladling on a little hurt. Slicing punches beneath the breast line send Packard grimacing to her corner at the bell.

R6: Danes breaks through - wins the first back to back heats as once again she stands her ground, wins some crucial early give and take, then starts walking Packard down. Clare not hanging back to counter any more - she's taking it to Kelly, unafraid to fence jabs and match reflexes with the wiry Californian. Girls spanking away at each other's flanks with lathering combinations - both warned for elbowing one another in the chest as they work to free up room to hook in close.

R7: Kelly on with renewed determination - she backs Danes up with a series of spearing one-twos up the middle, then dips in and tags that liver with cranking hooks underneath. Danes sputtering on defence - Kelly's breaking her down and not paying the price as Packard anticipates with little leans away or bobbing to make Danes miss over the top. Down the stretch, Kelly with her weight on that front foot, bobbing and hooking Danes in the body has Clare shabby at the ropes - Packard comes off the stomach to swivel Danes head a hook, reloads and gets it again as Clare stares and starts to topple to her left - another swatting hook in the ear sends Clare stupified into the corner. Bell sounds to save Danes from further punishment - she's weaving stupidly in the corner, gloves at her mouth - apparently unaware the round is over.

R8: Packard in control, mopping Danes up all over the ring as Clare gets on her bicycle. Down the stretch, Kelly getting a little overanxious, spurred on by Danes apparent reluctance to mix it up. Packard getting bold, leading with her hook instead of the right hand and Danes times a beautiful fade, then dive-in with the sneaky right, kissing it off Packard's teeth, bending low on follow through as Kelly swoons forward. Danes snuggling up, pivoting left to turn Packard, then slugging her gut with muscular right hands - Kelly groaning as she drapes off Danes neck at the bell. Clare gobbles up another Packard round with opportunistic power - Kelly sent back to her corner with a little panic in her eyes.

R9: Shutout Kelly Packard. Veteran guts it up, totally outclassing Danes this round with textbook boxing in the middle of the ring. Clare getting polished up by Kelly's accurate stick, then posing as Kelly slaps away with hooks and crosses to the blonde's glossy face. Clare's turn to have a moment of doubt. Corner tells Danes to stay away in the 10th - they think they've got this thing wrapped up.

R10: Packard charges the mound, nails Danes off her stool with a shattering right on the cheek to send Clare sideways into the corner - Kelly reaching in with a stabilizing left, HAMMERING away with brutal right hands and DANES GOES DOWN! Clare bludgeoned to her knees, cut on the forehead - eyes wide, body vibrating as she takes her 8. Danes hurt, fights back with brilliant instinctiveness, holding her own in nasty give and take that sees both women survive disasterous clipping hooks in pell mell trading. Down the stretch, Packard backs away behind a covering jab, sells the retreat and NAILS Danes as she walks forward - bracing right hand driving Clare back into the ropes and leaving her stunned for the follow up. Kelly pouring it on in the final minute, galloping to Clare's body with lanky lefts and rights, clouting Clare's face the wide hook and whippy right hand - Danes getting mauled but grittily hanging in to the bell. Comes back a wild UD10 by one point margin for the winner and new flyweight champ: KELLY PACKARD!

After: Kelly bursting into tears at the announcement, hands at her face - it's been a long time between superbowls for this champion. Danes busted up and dropped in the final round, knows she was 3 minutes away from title town herself - that's GOTTA hurt. Clare winning a lot of close rounds, outpunching Kelly in the first half, but the veteran finally put it all together to win the big one. Uncharacteristic meanness shown by Packard in the aftermath - taunting Danes with the title belt as Clare tries to leave the ring - Kelly's distaste for her boxing rival clearly evident.
