Before: fed live to PPV from Eiffel Tower location - Danes/Newton a tasty treat before Casta/Garner. Thandie a well known commodity in European boxing circles, carving out a niche not so different from Claire's own as a classy technician with a fiesty edge. Danes supremely confident despite having the location dictated to her as part of the Garner package: "It's nice to go into a bout knowing I can be the big girl," says slender Claire. "I can push my weight on Thandie, show some different looks - I'm looking forward to pressing the fight and putting hurt on a girl for a change." Thandie in black bikini, gold bicep bands, Claire in half and half black/white bikini.

During R1: Claire initiating banging trade - sweeping blockbusters at her opponent's tiny waist from a wide spread stance. Newton getting caught up in the bluster - entertaining slugging from small-boned beauties - arms shivering upon impact, rapid lathering action spanking up both contestants - hateful glares as jaws and bodies are stroked hard. Claire's got the edge - she's the aggressor, she started the slugging, Newton's just playing catch up - brunette's backing up, taking flush at the bell.

R2: Newton wises up, starts to victimize a brazen Claire Danes this round. Thandie jabbing at the right distance, interrupting Claire on the way in, positioning the blonde for firm right hands on the mouth. Newton thinking, timing her punches, walking away rather than standing in for trade - she's got Claire stomping forward and loading up, blonde clearly not as comfortable in bully mode. Thandie brushing up on Danes' face bell to bell, maintaining the distance, polishing up Claire's usually elusive mug.

R3: Danes adjusting, tucking her chin, getting lower, dragging that front foot and pivoting more - it's the more traditional slip and slap attack. Claire doing yeoman's work in Newton's belly - Danes pestering up top, but setting down on snick-snack licks against the waist, in behind the elbow - Thandie bunching up, doesn't like the body work. Down the stretch, Newton sells her retreat as a rout - Claire walking her down and taking a flush sucker hook on the chops. DANES IS HURT! Blonde stepping in fence post holes, hands up around her grimacing face as Thandie goes over to the offence. Newton stroking with wide, whippy lefts and rights, lathering her girl back and CRACKING Danes a bar-room elbow across the brow. Claire dazed, momentarily helpless - she's saved by the bell as Thandie looks to heap on, gets pushed back by the ref.

R4: War! Claire shakes off the foul, comes out furious, but controlled, staying on that willowy body with her best stuff, powder-puffing up top to keep Thandie occupied. Newton more upright, stabbing a more orthodox jab up the middle and trying to fit the right cross home - wonderful two way trade as the girls stand in the pocket, taking turns trying to work for openings. Claire consistent to the body, always finishing up her sequences there with something hard and Newton finally gives ground. Thandie groaning, looking achy - she's half turning and walking away, punches losing vigor. Claire stays on her, walking her girl down, but then dipping or taking the half step back: Danes won't be fooled twice. By the final minute - Newton is clearly wearing down in the body, melting away along the ropes as Claire strokes her ribs - Danes stepping with and going there now almost exclusively. It's all too much - Newton sobbing to all fours, clutching at her ravished midsection with her right arm - Danes struts away with a bruising KO4 win.

After: Pure joy on Claire's face - she was raw, awkward at times as she went at her foe with puncher's intentions, but she settled down to give Newton a painful shellacking. Claire like a terrier with a toy when she had her girl suffering to the body - beautiful snapping, licking strokes just sapped the resistance from Newton's legs and heart.
