Pre-fight:
Daisy Ridley, making her FCBA debut tonight, has a small portion of the league paying very close attention. She faces countrywoman Lucy Mecklenburgh, who has won her last couple of bouts at BBU level.

Daisy looks focused, determined in the pre-fight interviews. “Lucy’s a hottie alright. I don’t know how that’s going to help her in the ring, but I’m sure she’ll have a few fans out there cheering her on. I’m going to have to disappoint them when I pound away at her, because I’m not planning on losing my debut. Sorry fans, your little Lucy won’t be so hot soon.”

Lucy looks confident, mostly shrugging off Daisy’s chances as overhyped expectations. “She gets one lead role and suddenly the world thinks she’s worth something. I’ll gladly bring her back to Earth tonight. Let’s see if she books anymore gigs after I bust up that cute face of hers.”

Round 1:
Lucy’s confidence takes a huge hit early, as does her face as Daisy slips inside her range with a hook fake that transforms into a blasting right straight through Lucy’s shocked features. Mecklenburgh sprays blood from her mouth within the first minute and it seems to boost Daisy’s energy, giving her the confidence to swing for the fences, most blows actually leaving a mark, particularly another that stings Lucy’s cheek and an uppercut that rocks impressive cleavage. Lucy looks tired and battered by the end of the first, her fight really not starting how she’d hoped.

Round 2:
Lucy doesn’t want to give an inch early in the new round and she begins defensively, hoping a tighter start may lead to chances later. She doesn’t want to take another pounding like in round one. She’s almost too tentative it seems, as she is able to block more of what Daisy delivers, but does not mount any discernible attack of her own. Daisy still shovels some hooks into that flat tummy and clips Lucy’s temple a couple of times, but more impressive is she takes a seat after the second looking fresh and completely unscathed.

Round 3:
Lucy plays the defensive, patient game again early in the third, and it starts to pay off as Daisy is forced to try slightly more ambitious attempts that Lucy has the ability to counter. Lucy deflecting a lot of the heavier shots now, while popping a few jabs to Daisy’s chin and able to work the body a little towards the end of the round.

Round 4:
It is Daisy’s turn to become frustrated as not a lot is getting through now, Lucy reading her like a book after taking notes in the previous couple of rounds. A lot of trades involve weak jabs and testing hooks, but Lucy surprises with a big overhand that slams Daisy’s cheek and snaps her head off to the side, staggering her. Lucy’s confidence has returned and she’s swinging for the fences now. Daisy reeling, her guard doing its best, but gloves rock tight stomach instead, and at the close of the round Ridley takes a heavy hook to the left side that has her holding her ribs in pain as she rocks back and forth in her corner.

Round 5:
Both fighters with bruised cheeks now as they come together to start the fifth. Lucy’s confidence riding high still from the last round and it seems she has forgotten how that worked out for her in the first round. She only forgets about defence temporarily, but it is long enough as nimble Daisy finds a way in and snaps crisp uppercuts that jolt Lucy’s jawline. Daisy grimacing again as glove finds her aching ribs, but she silences her feisty opponent with some straights that flatten lovely jugs, pancaking the orbs against Lucy’s chest and causing her some real trouble. Lucy’s thoughts clearly with her softened jugs as she slumps in her corner after the fifth.

Round 6:
Lucy’s humbled jugs a reminder to her that the best offence is a good defence, and she reverts to playing a tighter, smarter role to begin the sixth. Daisy not able to find much, and particular no more jug as Lucy is being very cautious. Meck’s upper arms take more shots than anything, but they fire back when Lucy slams a fist under Daisy’s guard, softening her tummy, only to follow up with a nasty straight that crushes her right bosom. Daisy shocked and feeling the pain of revenge as she gasps in her corner, clutching at softened breast.

Round 7:
Lucy may have enjoyed that revenge a little too much, but as she targets modest jug again, Daisy sidesteps and cracks a left cross through Mecklenburgh’s cheek that knocks her off her feet. Lucy climbs back up and groggily re-engages, though mostly reverting to defence, but it’s all Daisy now. Big jug is taken and Lucy’s head is swimming now, Daisy in charge, dancing around the tired Brit before a left, right combo to the temples see Lucy’s eyes roll and her body slump in a heap to the canvas for the second time this round. This time the knockdown more effective, and Lucy is out in the second minute. Daisy wins, KO7!

Post-fight:
Daisy looks relieved, while Lucy is a groggy, lost mess. Lucy unable to even comment comprehensibly.

Daisy picks up a win on debut, and looked smart doing it. She has certainly given Lucy something to think about.

“She’s feisty,” Daisy frowns. “My ribs still ache and I’m not game to look in the mirror, but hey, at least I’m standing. I’m relieved to get the win. Back to training for the rest of the competition. There are still better fighters I need to gun for.”
