BEFORE: Former Hollyoaks actress Zoe Lister finally scored her maiden BBU victory when she stopped Rebecca Ryan and she's not without a chance on the opening bout of the Jewels' Pride Vol. 3 event since Sayaka Isoyama comes off a dismal knockout defeat at the hands of Sylvie Meis. The Tokyo Dome audience wants to open the card with a quick Japanese success but Sayaka's visibly nervous during the introductions and Zoe shows her no respect either refusing to touch gloves.
Zoe Lister wears a lacy black bikini and red gloves. Long blonde hair straight. Sayaka Isoyama wears a silver bikini with navy blue trim and blue gloves. Long black hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1: Sayaka tries to put the otherwise lacklustre blonde under immediate pressure and swings several hooks over the top but Zoe jumps in with similar ideas and both girls tangle in a mindless bash in the middle of the ring which kinda surprises the audience. And what's worse, Zoe actually lands the bigger punches smacking Sayaka on her heels and reeling her back onto the ropes down the stretch. Isoyama tries to punch back but lacks precision while getting hammered over the top and only skims off the blonde's forearms. On the other hand Lister blasts several quick one-two combos on the cheeks and keeps her opponent shut out for remainder of the round and looks visibly happy with that promising start.
Round 2: Both girls clash in the center of the ring again and Sayaka triggers a body attack to surprise the blonde briefly however Zoe keeps hammering over the top and she simply scores too many clean punches on the brunette's face which allows her to stay on top of the local favorite. Sayaka begins to groan in discomfort and has to yield real estate but still gets clipped on the jaw and wobbles badly on the ropes where Lister bumps into her mouth with a jabbing galore and thrives on the superior position which enables her to maul the Japanese rack and slam more facial leather as well. Isoyama's guard begins to crumble and she's battered sideways against the turnbuckle showing little signs of recovery. The Tokyo Dome crowd simply can't believe what is happening in the ring right now!
Round 3: It seems like Sayaka just can't take a good punch without looking all but lost in the proccess and that's extremely worrying when you consider that Lister isn't exactly a household name in BBU. Early in the third Isoyama actually halts the English charge briefly and scores plenty of hooks up the middle which expose Zoe's guard but the lack of a big punch eventually lets the blonde back in the frame and has her stalking the Asian's midsection to a great extent since Sayaka must yield real estate and seek cover along the ropes. The crowd urges the Japanese to attack but Zoe keeps her at bay regardless and clips her jaw with several loose swings in the closing minutes to remain ahead on the scorecards.
Round 4: Isoyama enjoys another opening start as she leans on the front leg and barges into the blonde's tummy but she gets wrestled away down the stretch and Zoe shuts her off in mid distance with superior footwork display. Sayaka tries to enforce the close range brawl again but cuts thin air in a lacklustre pursuit while Lister gathers her thoughts before another offensive drive and looks very confident of success even teasing the Asian with a flamboyant approach; her hands dropped by her thighs Cassius Clay-style. That stance truly upsets Front Street Japan's manager Ayako Hamada in the stands but Sayaka still tries to work out a plan here and she'll have to wait for another round to execute it.
Round 5: Whatever plan Sayaka had, it's quickly rendered worthless as Zoe slams a huge left/right combo on the brow ridge and wobbles the brunette on her heels before driving another hook on the navel. Isoyama bends forward with eyes closed and tries to wrap herself around the blonde's waist but gets bumped out of balance and the English actress slams another piercing hook on the brow ridge SENDING ISOYAMA CRASHING DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE moments later... the floodgates have opened according to Charlie Webster and it's a really messy sight looking at the fallen Asian on the verge of losing her integrity... Sayaka fights the tears away and scampers back on her feet at eight however Zoe's all over her guts thereafter and punches her to the body with plenty of beef that reels the hapless brunette onto the ropes and just soaking up the English punishment... Lister hasn't enjoyed this kind of dominance in her BBU career and if only the bout was held over in Europe the ref would have stopped it already but the locals protect Isoyama's challenge and let her see out the clock albeit in quite terrible shape.
Round 6: Lister realizes she has to knock her opponent out cold since she won't get any help from the ref but that seems like a foregone conclusion given Sayaka's current state. The Asian basically walks into a jabbing flurry over the top and can't keep her gloves together anymore which enables the blonde to go on a leather rampage and tear Isoyama's face apart... and it's no wonder the hapless Japanese can't take it anymore AS SHE COLLAPSES FLAT ON HER BACK with eyes closed less than 30 seconds into the sixth... Zoe shakes her glove in delight and the ref looks at Ayako Hamada in the stands and indicates that Sayaka is knocked out cold here. KO6 Zoe Lister!!!
AFTER: That's a terrible start for the local favorites which immediately puts Sayaka under immense pressure to avoid the jobber tag in future bouts IF there are any waiting for her in first place. Losing to Sylvie Meis wasn't that bad given the Dutch model's Foxfire Atlantic support but Zoe Lister was supposed to be a perfect victim for her maiden BBU victory and instead she got roasted again. Difficult times ahead for the delightful actress.
Meanwhile Zoe scores her second win in succession after no less that five previous defeats and vows to finally establish herself in BBU. The Hollyoaks camp is doing rather well overall and she was always the odd girl out based on the lacklustre record. Allthough Gemma Merna, Jorgie Porter and Jennifer Metcalfe remain out of her reach, she can at least consider herself equal to Claire Cooper now and should avoid the running jokes next time the cast meets for a casual drink.
Final result: Zoe Lister def. Sayaka Isoyama KO6.
