BEFORE: This is a very exciting match-up since both these girls last fought Jenna-Louise Coleman and suffered heart-breaking defeats. Haruna Yabuki was supposed to protect her stablemate Mikie Hara's then-title reign but was stopped in five rounds after a brow ridge injury while Ola Jordan was offered the first Coleman defence and put on a brave show before getting knocked out in the eighth. Still, the Polish-born dancer is a Top 10 ranked fighter and strays from journeywomen opposition looking to emerge in the title picture this year again especially if Coleman drops the title to the high-flying Lily Allen.
Haruna Yabuki wears a pink bikini and black gloves. Ola Jordan wears a white bikini with golden trim and golden gloves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.
Round 1: Haruna's on the mover early and wants to impose her presence on the blonde dancer but despite stacking up punches upstairs she can't quite break the high guard while Ola simply reverts into reaction mode and wants to see the local girl out first before jumping into any sort of offense. That's a dangerous tactics especially if Haruna lands her punches right but no such worries for the blonde in the opening round as her guard is flawless and prevents Yabuki from any significant progress.
Round 2: More of the same in the second, Ola shuts the Asian's attacks down through sheer strenght of her guard and actually loops a few menacing strikes herself which nail the local girl on the cheeks however Haruna maintains the uptempo drill and hopes to secure that big punch before too long. The crowd loves the aggressive nature of their fav but Charlie Webster indicates those efforts are making no impact on the English blonde whatsoever and one must wait to see what Jordan has up her sleeve to find out if she's gonna silence the Tokyo Dome anytime soon.
Rounds 3 & 4: Ola slows the tempo of Haruna's attacks by clinching her in center of the ring but she begins to spike her midriff in the stalemate which annoys the Japanese vixen to the point she tries to wrestle the blonde to the ropes but simply loses the muscle battle and eats a couple of uppercuts on the jaw that turn her back into the ropes and enable Ola to score more punches on the breadbasket. A swift repeat in the fourth; Yabuki allows the dancer to shove her butt-in-ropes and clearly struggles to embrace the subsequent body assault. The audience looks stunned over this outcome and even a late hook on Jordan's temple doesn't stop the dancer from pressing her opponent against the turnbuckle and peppering her ribcage in full swing.
Round 5: Ola finally rips a combo upstairs to freeze the brunette in earmuff mode and drives a low hook on the liver area to make her moan in pain as well. A flurry of punches shatters the guard thereafter and leaves the dancer with simple task of lumping the brunette's face up that silences the Tokyo Dome crowd alright but more importantly pounds the aching Japanese to the ropes where Ola remains ruthless as you like and harpoons her around the elbows. Haruna must seek a clinching respite but still gets blasted on the chin with couple of uppercuts and at half-distance the Polish-born blonde is back on top and making FSJ manager Ayako Hamada look very nervous up in the stands.
Round 6: Haruna's charge gets stopped by Ola's guard and the counterpunching drill slices the Asian's mitts apart to hook up with her cheeks and sends her into a quick retreat. Allthough the Yabuki entourage urges her to attack the blonde, the somewhat confused brunette thinks better of it and tries to outmanouver Jordan across the boards, a bad idea versus a pro dancer but only a late flurry over the top makes Haruna realize her mistake when Ola walks her down to the corner and pins on her heels with another impressive drive up the middle.
Round 7: This is getting a bit one-sided now as Haruna gets belted across the tummy and wobbles into a piercing uppercut on the jaw that sends her reeling into the ropes and Ola unloads punishment from both sides blasting her opponent's temples and sagging Yabuki on soft knees come the minute mark. Allthough she tries to leap back into the blonde's path with a jabbing series, she just can't handle the bulletproof guard and gets countered over the top instead. Jordan slams her brow rudges into a swollen reality and leaves her covered in deep earmuff thereafter while simply batting away at the exposed ribcage to close out the round.
Round 8: Yabuki loses her temper when she gets caught with a line drive up the middle as her jugs take a pounding and she screams out in frustration that she simply can't punish the dancer whatsoever here. A hectic pursuit fails to even graze the flesh and Ola whoops her on the left brow ridge with more jabs staggering the brunette in center of the ring and making her scowl in pain when a switch on the navel bursts the tummy aching. Haruna wobbles back to the ropes and offers nothing back simply trying to survive the blonde's onslaught and for once Ola seems to show some KO intentions when she rips Yabuki's stomach raw and signs off another excellent round with a heavy right hook on the temple. Haruna almost goes down on her side and only catches the ropes at the last moment to stay upright but she looks out of sorts here and walks slowly to her stool with a slumped chin.
Round 9: Another piercing drive up the middle beats the slow moving Haruna off the bat and dumps her into a high earmuff cover but Jordan ups the tempo even further and quickly pounds the truly aching brunette to the corner where she keeps stalking the ribcage and punches all the yelps and moans out of Yabuki's throat. All this being said - and witnessed by a stunned Tokyo Dome crowd - it's been a very durable showing from the Asian who looks set to soak up tremendous beating while not looking close to ending the fight on the canvas - with one small exception in the eight. Jordan looks happy just to maul the brunette to the point she can't even throw a punch back and the blonde's barely been scratched on the night herself in a sharp contrast. She rips a late uppercut drive to rock Haruna's head one more time but as the clock expires the Japanese girl slumps on her stool and doesn't seem all that keen to continue. FSJ coach Kei Mizutani reminds her there's just a single round to go and that prevents Yabuki from quitting on her stool.
Round 10: A low-key finish to this fight with Haruna simply unable to make any sort of progress and just staggering back & forth on her feet in a fruitless single punching pursuit. Ola channels some late JMD ideas by bumping into the brunette's rack and that's truly a new tactics on the night; the dancer is just having fun out there and treats the last couple of rounds as an extended sparring session which completely shatters Yabuki's otherwise high stock. The fight couldn't end any sooner for the home fans and they ever cheer the English girl when she rips more uppercuts on the jaw in the final minute pushing a hapless Haruna into the corner where coach Kei Mizutani refuses to throw in the towel but that makes no difference at all. Yabuki slides down on her backside when the clock expires and the verdict is as easy to predict as snow on the Fujiyama. Landslide UD10 Ola Jordan!!!
AFTER: Ola maintains her Top 5 prospects and probably is the best flyweight around the country Jenna-Louise Coleman not withstanding. Plus she openly vows to fight ACB featherweight champion Dannii Minogue next to convince everyone that Heidi Range's recent victory wasn't a mere fluke.
Lily Allen might have earned herself a title shot after knocking Nadine Coyle out just days ago but there's no denying Ola would have given her a solid run for the money. The Tokyo Arena is stunned by the dancer's ruthless treatment of Front Street Japan's number two ranked flyweight and well, it's suddenly all down to Mikie Hara to save the local pride. And for once the European visitor is a clear underdog in that match-up!
Final result: Ola Jordan def. Haruna Yabuki UD10.
