BBU INTERNATIONAL BOUT FROM ROME, ITALY

BEFORE: Talk about a BBU debut on a short notice! Just a couple of days ago lingerie model Jessica Michibata announced her intentions to join the UK-based organization and now she finds herself in the center of Foro Italico - otherwise known as the annual hosting venue of Internationali BNL d'Italia tennis tournament - and is ready to rumble against former Miss Italy Miriam Leone who has challenged the Japanese newcomer into her maiden female celebrity boxing experience.

Of course Michibata is well known to the British public due to her long-running relationship with former F1 world champion Jenson Button that ended just last month. So, is entering BBU a way to deal with the bitter breakdown of her marriage? Any reason is good enough for Charlie Webster who reports from the Italian capital city tonight.

Miriam Leone wears a turquoise bikini set and black gloves. Long red hair in loose waves. Jessica Michibata wears a lacy black bikini set and white gloves. Long brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Miriam wants to establish immediate dominance over the Japanese newcomer and forges ahead with a high jabbing approach that puts Jessica on the back foot within seconds of the opening bell. The Foro Italico crowd roars when the former pageant winner crashes a heavy left/right combo on the face and splits Jessica's mitts but just misses the put away follow up and skims off her rival's forehead to meet a crunching hook on the jaw. Michibata leans on Leone and rips some promising punches on the midriff, that's enough to slow the Italian down and have personal coach Lauren Berlingeri cheer her on from the corner. Miriam runs out of time to mount another charge and Michibata simply smiles back at her coach having survived her first round of pro competition.

Round 2:
Leone seeks more bruising connection upstairs but this time she crashes off the Asian's guard and gets picked off with single hand reply as Michibata jumps into quick jabbing series trying to find more confidence in her moves. She almost wobbles Miriam back to the ropes but the Italian escapes at the last moment and counters the model from the side scoring more success than before. Jessica fails to adjust to uptempo change and has Miriam thumping rapid fire up the middle and knocking her back towards the turnbuckle in the final minute. A late clinch enables Michibata to survive the rally but Leone still spikes her on the ribcage and barks in her ear at the bell.

Round 3:
Jessica gets caught with a quick overhand and wobbles on her heels which allows Miriam to clatter into her chest thereafter and put firmly on her heels again. Allthough Michibata tries to stand her ground she gets pummelled between the arms repeatedly and bends to the side just as Leone rips a left hook on the navel and thumps immediate follow up on the nose... AND DOWN GOES MICHIBATA... that was too quick for the shaken up Japanese who never regained her footing and had to taste the boards for the first time in her short BBU career... but she's up at five and ignores Leone's cheeky smile... a leather rush splits Jessica's mitts in the final minute though and Miriam wants to quickly finish the embattled opponent off but she only succeeds in punching Michibata's lips swollen and fails to overcome the desperate earmuff cover in the neural corner.

Round 4:
Miriam dwells on the crowd's support and thinks she's broken the Japanese resilience here; instead of keeping her foot on the gas pedal she reverts into some fancy body punching that makes no impact on the stubborn opponent who actually clinches her to bide some time. A lenghty stalemate follows and allthough the ref tries to help the redhead as much as possible, Jessica shuts her down with tremendous effort and pushes butt-in-ropes after a quick spin. She suddenly bumps the Italian off and wrenches her on the navel with a piercing jab before unloading a monster uppercut on the jaw that leaves Leone staggered at the bell. Coach Lauren Berlingeri is simply loving that late drive from her protegee and Miriam's smile has temporarily disappeared.

Round 5:
Both girls square off in the center of the ring but it's a little too late for Miriam to take full advantage of that earlier knockdown and she gets whacked across the bodt as Jessica finally jumps into a significant offensive drill to shut the redhead off in mid distance. Leone throws the head hunting gear alright but badly misplaces it come the second minute and makes no progress whatsoever while Jessica loops more clear punches and leaves a couple of nasty cuts on the Italian's face. That makes Miriam think better of it and as she retreats back to the ropes, she's fortunate enough to avoid the Japanese pursuit. Michibata refuses to pull the trigger to some extent but she's annoyed Leone enough already to warrant a HUGE smile on coach Berlingeri's face.

Round 6:
Miriam still has the knockdown under her belt and fights on home turf - allthough she's a Sicilian by birth - yet Jessica stalks her with a quick overhand drill early in the sixth and scores too many clean punches up the middle to predict a landslide Italian victory on points. Charlie Webster questions the KO skills of the redhead who basically let the Japanese off the hook in the fourth and now looks awfully lacklustre against the vastly improved leather rush. Michibata's sheer ammount of strikes thrown at her rival shuts Leone down in deep earmuff come the final thirty seconds and now the BBU TV reporter begins to ponder whether Miriam has enough gas left in the tank to go the distance if neccessary?

Round 7:
Jessica easily tracks down the slow moving redhead and dismantles her high guard thumping heavy leather upstairs and rooting the helpless foe to the spot. Miriam swings back but misses badly and eats a left/right combo on the lips which drops her mitts alltogether and allows the lingerie model to crack a brutal left hook on the jaw WHICH SENDS LEONE DOWN ON HER BACK... that sucks the life out of the crowd's support but the proud local favorite beats the count at six and shoves the ref away seeking immediate redemption. Michibata weathers the comeback effort with bulletproof guard and loops single hand reply to stay in the exchange and actually rough the redhead up down the stretch as Leone simply can't keep up anymore and visibly gasses out in the final minute leading to frantic screams from the Japanese girl's coach. And Michibata obeys to the advice like a wiley veteran stuffing Miriam up in the corner and blasting her navel with drilling hooks to dump the pageant scowling in pain with eyes closed. Leone hugs her aching midriff instead of just punching back and gets clipped on the nose before a left hook nails her on the temple inside the last five seconds... DOWN GOES THE ITALIAN... Miriam just slides on her knees in the corner and bends her head against the canvas but before ref can start the count the clock expires and saves the local favorite from ineviteable demise... Jessica still keeps her cool and doesn't even indicate she got really unlucky there; that's as strictly business approach from any rookie on verge of a maiden victory Charlie Webster has seen since joining BBU TV back in 2012.

Round 8:
Leone survived a couple of knockdowns in the seventh but according to Charlie Webster she's a sitting duck now. She avoids quitting on her stool in front of local crowd but can do very little when Jessica splits her mitts within seconds of the bell and starts to rearrange her face proper. The arms collapse quickly and the banged up redhead goes shimmy shake even quicker... she stumbles to the side but her eyes bawl out to the orbit and even a rookie like Michibata realizes she's got the girl beat... MIRIAM GOES DOWN FLAT ON HER BACK for the third time tonight and surely there's no way back anymore? Ref looks on and hesitates whether to call it off on the spot... Leone still doesn't want to check out and makes a desperate lunge to her feet... she's up after a very slow count reaches nine but wobbles straight into the referee's arms who has to craddle her away to the corner.. and Miriam's been punched numb here and just slides on her knees, her face resting against the turnbuckle... TKO8 Jessica Michibata!!!

AFTER: That was mighty impressive from the Japanese newcomer who overcame incredible odds after a knockdown in the third seemed to derail her debut once and for all. Thankfully for the lingerie model Miriam just couldn't pull the trigger lacking regular stable backing & proper gym training having fought just once last year which badly affected her performance. Taking the fight on short notice actually backfired on the redhead pageant and silenced Foro Italico despite all the early promise and Michibata's non-existent prior boxing career. Charlie Webster calls it an upset but perhaps we have just seen the arrival of a new BBU star? Malika Menard-like run towards the lightweight elite sounds very possible for the Japanese model especially if she keeps working with a private coach. Most of the free agents don't have such a luxury available.

Denise van Outen on twitter: "So, who needs Jenson Button anyway? #BBUpset #MichiPower

Final result: Jessica Michibata def. Miriam Leone TKO8.
