BEFORE: Peta Todd got absolutely roasted by Elena Santatelli during PageThrees' Boxing On The Beach card last July and many pundits wonder why she hasn't quit BBU yet but when you consider that her partner Mark Cavendish has success written all over her resume you begin to understand why Peta refuses to accept the jobber image and keeps going fighting through adversity.
Meanwhile Manuela Arcuri is a former lightweight champion and considered a better fighter than Santarelli however that didn't stop her from losing the Latin Union management which has greatly affected her schedulling activity over the past two years. Still, she's a betting favorite against the lacklustre Todd and Charlie Webster thinks this fight won't last long at all.
Peta Todd wears a black & white polka dot bikini and red gloves. Dark brown hair in a long sleek ponytail. Manuela Arcuri wears a lacy white basque top, black knickers and navy blue gloves. Dark brown hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.
Round 1:
It's almost impossible for Peta to perform any worse than she did vs Santarelli but Manuela stacks her up with a flurry of punches over the top to find out if she's been handed a genuine jobber here tonight. Peta though response in the same manner and actually wins the battle of hard hitters when she smacks the Italian across the mouth and drills her nose to wobble Arcuri on the back foot. A belting hook finds the navel and bends Manuela forward before a riffle hook on the eye dumps her on the ropes for good. Todd charges forward and throws a quick left/right combo to keep the Italian trapped but fails to put her away and has to revert into pounding her to the body in the final minute with Arcuri rocking back & forth on her feet but unable to break free.
Round 2:
That was a surprisingly good start from the British underdog but Manuela beats her for a quick overhand to start the second and digs more leather into the cheeks reeling Todd on her heels quickly. A switch on the body staggers the British model but she clinches the Italian to bide some time and avoids betting thumped on the rack by rolling across to the left and scything Arcuri's mouth on the counter. A right hand follows through and finds the nose before another belting hook drills her on the navel and sends backing into the ropes. The second round ends in the same manner the first one did with Peta racking up punches to the toned Italian body and Manuela gasping for air in visible discomfort.
Round 3:
Arcuri's really annoyed over the lack of production but when she tracks Peta down in center of the ring she misses the overhand swing and gets clobbered with a left hook on the nose that is quickly followed by a right hand on the jaw. The Italian yelps in pain and Peta barges into her rack clubbing the JMD route and backing her into the ropes where she pierces the ribcage and hoovers around the liver area. Todd presses forward with her jugs shoving her rival butt-in-ropes and smacks the ribs to maintain her advantage and Arcuri simply wraps herself around the fellow model's waist but can't break free again and slumps on her knees when the ammount of punches ripping her midsection apart becomes too hard to handle. Peta runs away with another stunning performance and the Italian gives her a very long stare after the bell probably being as shocked as everyone in the audience.
Round 4:
Manuela finally drives a solid combo into Peta's face and staggers her in the middle of the ring but the head hunting drill stalls when she skims off top of Todd's forehead and gets whacked around the elbows as the British model leans on her and sends a flurry of jabs to stack the Italian up before blasting her across the mouth for a good measure. Arcuri wobbles on her heels and drops her arms too which dumps her onto the ropes when Peta slams her on the mouth again and bends to the side with a nifty follow up on the ribcage. Arcuri tries to punch back but catches the forearms and gets nailed on the right brow ridge before a heavy hook bursts her on the nose and slumps against the turnbuckle with eyes closed. She whimpers her troubles while getting picked off up the middle and Todd just bashes her on the jugs until the bell leaving one tired looking Italian thereafter. Manuela can't quite catch her breath in time for the fifth and suddenly the upset is very much on the cards...
Round 5:
Peta blitzes the slow moving opponent and blasts another cross up the middle to slice the guard apart before adding more jabs on the bruised cheeks. Manuela wobbles forward with a quiet yelp but gets silenced when Todd pierces her jaw with an uppercut combo and finally signs off the punishment with a left hook on the temples... AND DOWN GOES THE ITALIAN crashing on her left side... Peta leaps in the air and bunny hops in the neutral corner while staring at her foe's efforts to beat the count... Arcuri looks really bad when she wobbles back upright at eight and is rooted to the spot when the fellow models splits her gloves again to resume the uppercut punishment... Manuela sags on her heels and gets pounded to the ropes within seconds, her arms drop to the side and Peta shuts her eyes with a brutal left/right combo on the temples followed by a left hook on the liver area... AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE... Arcuri collapses to her knees and bends her head against the canvas but she just can't beat the count this time and remains crippled until the younger model mounts the ropes and celebrates a sensational victory!!! KO5 Peta Todd!!!
AFTER: Mark Cavendish would be proud of that performance and perhaps there is some hope left for the otherwise unfortunate model. She vows to drag the fallen Italian by the hair to the locker room and whip her butt raw but drops her ideas when she becomes aware that Manuela can only crawl back to her corner and needs medical attention amid complains of breathing trouble. Ever since losing her management the Italian looked like a shadow of the former champion and one can only wonder if she recovers at least half of the past glory. At age 38 that's very unlikely and despite posting ten wins in 15 fights, the future looks bleak for the once so intimidating model from Sicily. Some rumours link her to a fight with Australian newcomer Jesinta Campbell next.
Final result: Peta Todd def. Manuela Arcuri KO5.
