BBU INTERNATIONAL BOUT

BEFORE: When Elisabetta Canalis and Laura Pausini decided to enter the American boxing scene their BBU careers have been put on hold and left the Italian market requiring an upgrade. And this is where Elisabetta Gregoraci steps in ready for her official debut. The 35 year old raven-haired bombshell from the Calabria province dismissed the opportunity to fight compatriots Miriam Leone and Manuela Arcuri since they've both suffered defeats earlier this month already and would make the newcomer look like a hyena rather than a genuine threat. And even a free agent like Gregoraci realizes that good press is half the success neccessary to become a gatekeeper in demand.
Tech Unlimited's Micaela Schaefer accepted to fight the Italian but not on her debut so the only option available on short notice turned out to be the former "Skyfall" Bond girl - Berenice Marlohe who stopped the aforementioned Canalis on her own debut back in December 2012. And she also agreed to make a trip to Reggio di Calabria in the deep Italian south (aka the "toe" of the peninsula) so one has to praise her willingness to please the BBU fanbase. This is probably the furthest the organization has travelled from it's Cardiff HQ and to make things absolutely official, Georgie Thompson is the reporter on-site!
Elisabetta Gregoraci wears a turquoise bikini and white gloves. Black hair in loose waves. Berenice Marlohe wears a black bikini set and red gloves. Black hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Both girls are 5'9" and there's nothing to choose between them other than Marlohe's experience but the veteran of nine BBU fights is slow to get off the mark and has the Italian rookie thumping her up the middle to cause an early furore among the Reggio audience. Apparently the Italian is keen to just blast her opponent out from the very word go and that's a desired attitude if you want to be successful in BBU especially against someone who hasn't won a fight for over two years. Berenice's early days were so much better and now she actually struggles to tame the newcomer's onslaught that reels her onto the ropes in the final minute and allows Gregoraci to pound some toned ribcage and make the French brunette seek a clinching respite just to make it past the opening round.
Round 2:
Obviously Berenice never expected her opponent to come out firing so viciously but the hot-blooded Italians have usually developed that pattern so it's all on the French beauty who quickly adjusts her stance in the second and leans on the newcomer with a flying series of hooks. She misses a couple of initial shots but then catches Elisabetta on the temple and wobbles her to the side before adding a right uppercut on the chin to silence the Reggio crowd on the spot. She jumps into a head hunting frenzy and makes Gregoraci think better of it fast... the Italian model scampers back to the ropes but needs more agility to avoid the French leather rush and her footwork isn't all that great, she leans back over the ropes and caves in while Marlohe sends in the furious attack and slices the high guard with a couple of heavy jabs that restore parity in the ring.
Round 3:
Georgie Thompson believes that Gregoraci's strong suit might be her sheer punching power, a seemingly awkward hook that only grazes Berenice's boobs actually staggers her to the side before a huge left hook finds the eye and makes the Bond girl scowl in discomfort. However the superior footwork allows Marlohe to escape and Elisabetta wastes precious time in fruitless pursuit which makes her look rather desperate already. And the all-in tactics do work sometimes but Berenice swings back at the hassling model a bit too frequently and too accurately to indicate she isn't really bothered by Elisabetta's aggressive approach. She eventually locks the Italian in a lenghty clinch after grabbing her outstetched arm and wrestling back towards the ropes. The crowd still thinks Gregoraci is on top here but Georgie Thompson smells a one-punch destruction scenario and that could go either way in all honesty.
Round 4:
More Italian hassling that brings little success and Berenice's happy to see the newcomer out in mid distance before striking back over the top and leaving the first visible lumps on Elisabetta's face down the stretch. It's all about the execution rather than intent and despite throwing nearly twice as many punches as her rival, Gregoraci fails to make them count and leaves herself exposed to a hurried response once Marlohe gains enough confidence to openly challenge the aggresive plan. We're on the verge of a classic flyweight-like bash in the final minute and while Berenice stuffs the model with a heavy hooking combo on the rack and tags her jaw too, she gets caught with a slicing left hook on the nose and wobbles to her heels regardless which really tells a lot about Elisabetta's core strenght. If only she could navigate that better before it's too late.
Round 5:
That late hook got Berenice thinking a lot and she applies the leather rush much sooner this time and traps the local girl with a jabbing frenzy up the middle which sends her backing into the ropes. Gregoraci simply can't escape the heat and is required to punch herself out of that hole now - what follows is the flyweight-like 'do or die' battle that snaps both heads back and makes both girls scowl in their effiorts to break the other's resilience... AND THE SHEER STRENGHT COMES TO TH FORE as Eliabetta nails a beauty on the chin to lift Berenice off her feet and dump her on the ropes in a quick bump off turnaround. A harpoon from the left catches the French brunette on the liver area and makes her half-turn before a quick follow up on the chin sags her on the ropes for good. Elisabetta didn't have to move all that fast to make it possible and the power control did the job. She buries the aching actress under a leather barrage in the final minute and the Reggio crowd is on their feet as they witness Marlohe sinking deeper and deeper on her knees - eventually saved only by a desperate earmuff cover.
Round 6:
Will Berenice change her approach again? Well, it's hard to tell early in the sixth because Elisabetta blitzes her against the odds and drives a heavy uppercut up the middle to split the arms and make a fine connection with the rack. But more importantly she adds a right hook on the jaw and sends Marlohe spinning onto the ropes which gives Georgie Thompson a clear sign that she's indeed rattled by that terrible ending to the previous round. All Gregoraci from there on, the Italian makes look her foe really cumbersome and beats her for a quick overhand that spikes the left eye and swivels the head to the side. The black locks cover Marlohe's face and she doesn't really even notice a left hook bursting her jaw and lifting off her feet again. A brutal hook from the right slams her on the temple moments later AND JUST RAGDOLLS TO THE CANVAS as the crowd errupts in joy on the spot. Elisabetta is visibly pumped up after finally breaking her opponenr down and she shakes her glove while screaming out in her native tongue. And the smile on her face gets even bigger when she realizes that Berenice is badly shaken up after beating the count at eight. Indeed, the Bond girl's eyes are heckuva misty here and that core punching power that BBU TV praised earlier is clearly evident. Berenice needs some time to recover but she's given none by the ref and there's still over a minute to go on the clock... Gregoraci doesn't waste any milisecond in resuming her attack and shatters the wounded guard by ripping hooks from both sides and just tearing into the French brunette's face... one.. two.. three... make that four unanswered shots on the brow ridges and nose render Marlohe numb and drop her arms by the side... a vicious left hook catches the nose one more time and spins the hapless actress to the side before a right hand on the mouth pulls the plug on her resistance... DOWN GOES MARLOHE AGAIN and this time she's out for keeps. She ends the fight flat on her back and blubbering in spasms of defeat while the ref raises the model's hand in the air!!! KO6 Elisabetta Gregoraci!!!
AFTER: "Are you gonna cry now?", Gregoraci shouts at the fallen actress and plants her foot on her tummy to pose for the cameras. The Italian temper is very much a force to be reckoned with and Elisabetta looks like a devil woman with her black hair flying everywhere as she jogs around the ring and orders Berenice to be revived to suffer a Walk Of Shame at the very least. Several slick looking lads are ready to obey the model's wish - and that's no wonder simply by looking at her - so the poor Bond girl is lifted on her knees and dragged along as she just can't shake off the KO daze yet. Elisabetta has her gloves removed and grabs her by the hair before slapping her with open hand: "What? Don't you pass out on me, honey! Hello, anybody there? Speak!" - Georgie Thompson finds it amusing and very BBU-like however the reality is that the French veteran was simply knocked on the verge of her senses and has no strenght in her to even respond to the insults. She's taken all the fun away from the Italian's plans and drops face down once Gregoraci realizes what she's done in the fight proper: "Oh well, better luck next time! At least she has a plane ticket back home booked already!" (laughs)
The fight was approved on short notice so while the BBU TV coverage lingers on with Elisabetta being interviewed by the local press Georgie Thompson offers some background info on the latest addition to the roster: "Well, Elisabetta's best known as the wife of ex-Formula 1 mogul Flavio Briatore - and he's old enough to be her father really but she's made her name at hostess for RAI TV a while back when she allegedly offered sexual favors to get the job. No kiddin' They really make it almost official here! Just wait until Denise van Outen hears about that! Of course she got the RAI job but has worked on the catwalks around Europe and well, she's a fine looking woman all around. And she punches a ton! She decked Marlohe like she has a brick in that glove and I can't wait to see her again. I hear that Micaela Schaefer is willing to take the test next as she wants to hear nothing about the Indira Weis PromiBoxen rematch just yet. Well, if Italy ever offered a harder punching clone version of Elisabetta Canalis then we might have just found her in Gregoraci. What a day here in Calabria! WHAT-A-DAY!!!"
Final result: Elisabetta Gregoraci def. Berenice Marlohe KO6.
