Before: "Ever since this bout got made," says Mish, "I've been dreaming of stopping Kelly Packard. Sometimes early, just catching her, sometimes late after grinding her down and breaking her spirit, but I just feel that everything's clicking for this fight." Cat Bell agrees, "Mish has been a demon in training camp. She caught me a hook in the ribs when we were doing some 'light' sparring 2 weeks ago and I still have the bruise! Obviously, we have TONS of respect for Kelly but I think Mish is dialed in tonight." Packard noted for her thick files on prospective opponents, says she's been tracking Williams for years, "I think she's the most improved flyweight out there," says Kelly of her challenger, "5 years ago I would have chopped her up. I'm going to have to stay focused for the entire fight now." Kelly in mauve athletic bikini, white shoes and gloves, Mish in black bikini, shoes and gloves, white lace trim.

During R1: Packard out to get Mish' respect early, jams a hard scooping right to the belly, buckling the challenger's knees, then swabs up top with a series of stroking hooks to get Williams floundering backward. This is the 'Punching Packard' who's been tearing up flyweight opposition this year - Williams staggered repeatedly, backing up, not getting off. Mish beaten soundly bell to bell, finishes up hurt at the ropes, gloves at her mouth as she bends at the waist, trying to weather the long armed storm. Shutout Packard.

R2: Mish shakes off the punishment, comes forward - Packard settles into tactical boxing mode. Kelly dragging her front foot, hands up, relaxed, elbows in - Williams crouching forward, stalking. Mish reaching for champion ribcage with either hand, but getting turned midring - Kelly working off a stiff stick, placing her right hand on Mish's ear, eye and chin with laser accuracy, falling off to either side to avoid most of the receipts. Round to Packard.

R3: Kelly winning the first minute of these rounds decisively, establishing her jab and rhythm, then letting the punches flow - Williams reacting, getting by on toughness. Packard putting it all together this round, spiking one-twos to the face, leaning onto her front foot and batting at Mish's body behind the elbow with straight armed hooks that have Williams stooping forward and taking. Mish fighting in spots, but she's waiting for openings, getting dictated to by the master.

R4: Kelly out with the fast first minute, getting her girl under control, then working her over from there. Mish confused, often backing out, wheels turning as she's really struggling to land punches. Packard bringing the fight to Mish, crippling the challenger with the constant shivering hook on the left side - Williams getting torn up in the belly, then pulped up top as Packard steps to the side, chops face with quick combinations. Mish finishing up with her butt in the ropes again, frozen by a vicious left uppercut in the solar plexus, staring as her face gets bounces by half a dozen sudden lefts and rights from a steamrolling champion. Williams wobbly butt at the bell, busted up in the nose - corner trying their best to prop up Mish's spirits during the break.

R5: Kelly laying down the terms in the first minute. After that she's cruising, stepping to the right, leaving her chiselling jab extended on Mish's face or top of her head, pounding in the straight right hand, then batting that body with 2 or 3 straight arm hooks, swivelling to the left around the lead foot. Williams just dazzled - hands at her lips, wilting forward, elbows in, not getting off as Packard turns her, punishes her minute after agonizing minute. Mish with permanent wobble in her trunks as she takes another bell to bell shellacking, face all busted up now by accurate Packard punching, hobbled in the body from that consistent hook.

R6: Mish off her stool like a warrior, backs Packard to the ropes for the first time and bangs away with wide, brawling lefts and rights. Kelly cool, rolling and slipping, finally clinches and walks Mish back for a break - by the second minute, Kelly's pumping out the jab again, shutting Mish down. Third minute - Packard circling, working off the stick, taking what she wants from Mish - the belly, the breast, the face - Williams just turning, reacting late, getting touched up by a heartless champion through 6.

R7: Shutout Kelly Packard. Mish just bleak with disappointment as Packard works her over yet again. Williams showing legendary toughness in standing in for the abuse, but none of the technique we've seen her use in previous fights is showing up. Mish spending most of the round bent forward at the waist, covering up, letting Packard get off with pretty tic-tac-toe punching, followed by the sweet pivot to either side to turn the challenger's flank. Williams corner working on bad swelling around the eyes - Mish uncharacteristically complaining of hurting ribs on her stool.

R8: Mish showing spirit, up off her stool strong again, taking the fight to Kelly, but Packard's standing her ground, confident she's taken enough out of Williams to risk trading with the challenger. Licking, hardhearted back and forth has the crowd roaring - girls just taking turns toe to toe. Down the stretch, Packard wants it more. A sharp hook on the teeth straightens Mish up, dazing her - Packard clips her another hook on the jaw and a diving right cross - Williams backing up, not punching. All Kelly to the bell as she keeps Mish on the end of her punches, getting lethal extension on smooth-flowing lefts and rights.

R9: Shutout Kelly Packard. Mish finally looking discouraged, beat up and shabby, lounging on the ropes, bending forward to take her licking. Kelly P obliging with her highest punch output of the fight, lathering Packard with batting lefts, chopping rights, tearing up the challenger's belly, chopping away on her face. Towards the end, slender bodied Kelly getting big and loving it - she's propping a drowsy Mish up with her forearms, then banging away like a middleweight, bruising up William's biceps and shoulders with spanking, flat blows.

R10: Mish' pride won't die - she knows she's on the verge of puking up a 10-0 whitewash and refuses to be on the receiving end of that score. Williams with hands down, just wading into Kelly and lashing the champ across the waist with Gatti-esque right/lefts - Packard grunting, giving ground as Williams finally gets to her. Kelly stays composed, spearing in well timed straight counters in between Mish's wide shots - by the second minute, champion has challenger breaking down - Kelly slowly re-asserting control. Mish walking straight in, takes a perfect tight left uppercut on the chin and staggers backward - Packard surging forward to take advantage. All Kelly P down the stretch - vicious right crosses setting up sick left hooks, battering Mish into a KO haze at the ropes - Williams swooning, pushing out meaningless lefts and rights as punches crash onto her sleepy face. Ref trying to get in there to stop it, but Kelly's pounding right hands continue to hammer home to the lolling head of her opponent - Mish bludgeoned to her knees, ref bodying Packard back. Williams pooling on the canvas horribly beaten - goes as KO10 Kelly Packard after a vicious, sustained beating.

After: Cat Bell ashen faced and speechless as Mish Williams is loaded onto a stretcher - what goes around comes around for Williams who has more 10-0 runs under her belt than any other FCBA fighter, finally gets on the receiving end of the perfect beat down. Packard simply never better in dismantling a very tough challenger tonight - she boxed, she slugged, she made Mish miss, she made her pay in what may become recognized as the beating of the year. As for drawing out the knockout to the last possible moment, a breezy champion says, "I like to dress a girl up before I take her out." Ouch. Packard with a terrific little run going that isn't being talked about - blonde re-asserting herself as a dominant champ and pound for pound figure after a couple of off years.
