BEFORE: The return of Abi Phillips to BBU competition has raised many eyebrows around Dublin tonight and some people don't even remember her debut win over Emma Rigby in July 2012. However when Rigby herself made a surprising comeback on the very recent Hollyoaks Special, the Birmingham born actress turned singer decided she wants to have another shot at the UK boxing's finest as well. First to answer the call was none other than Kimberley Walsh who racked up four wins in succession and simply wants to continue her rise in the divisional rankings. Denise van Outen believes that Phillips was a very smart choice from the former Girls Aloud member even though Abi's still just 22 and a model of youthful arrogance during the introductions when she refuses to touch gloves with the veteran blonde.

Kimberley Walsh wears a navy blue bikini, black knickers and white gloves. Long dark blonde hair tied in a loose bun at the back of her head. Abi Phillips wears a white bikini top, denim micro-skirt and red gloves. Blonde hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Walsh wants to stamp her authority on the fight as quickly as possible and jumps at the fellow blonde with a jabbing series but can't quite beat the high earmuff and bounces off the gloves in fruitless fashion until Abi actually blasts her on the temple with a left hook and dominates the close range picking off the careless singer herself. Kimberley's head snaps back several times and drives her backwards as Abi suddenly finds a brutal hook on the jaw and clearly stuns the alleged betting favorite. Kimba refuses to yield the real estate and leans back at her foe only to soak up another uppercut combo on the jaw and sink on her knees on the spot. Phillips adds a piercing series on the ribcage and secures the opening round in comfortable fashion defying several odds in the proccess.

Round 2:
Kimberley thinks that the youngster simply got lucky in that opening round but another piercing series punishes her ribcage early in the second and Abi shows her no respect whatsoever thumping more leather upstairs and rocking the singer's head back & forth in a statement-making fashion. Kimba begins to squeal in discomfort but keeps bouncing off the guard in a futile effort to tame the Phillips onslaught and gets reeled onto the ropes down the stretch unable to settle into any kind of boxing rhythm. Meanwhile Abi thrives on her youthful arrogance and buries the older blonde under a facial barrage ripping well measured hooks into Walsh's face and leaving her yelping in pain at the bell with a couple of nasty shiners marking each of Kimba's cheeks.

Round 3:
Kimba goes all-in to open the third blasting a brutal left hook into Abi's jaw before adding a right hand on the eye that finally throws the younger blonde off her stance. A flurry of punches roots her to the spot in the center of the ring moments later and Walsh barks in her efforts to inflict more damage; she connects with the slumping chin repeatedly and Phillips simply struggles to embrace the leather heat thrown at her which is always the main concern for any BBU returnee. Kimba shuts her off completely thanks to that epic offensive rush and pounds her back to the ropes where Abi can only survive until the bell through a high earmuff cover that still does very little to prevent Kimberley slicing her ribcage with a change of targets.

Round 4:
Abi looks a bit soft in the eyes after soaking up that power drive from her opponent and Kimba doesn't give her any respite to the start the fourth either; she blasts a left/right cross hooking combo to split the younger blonde's mitts before adding another uppercut combo that wobbles Phillips to the side amid a painful shriek. Another heavy hook from the left finds the temple and half-spins an aching Phillips and before she can settle back in, a crunching right hook nails her on the jaw AND SENDS TUMBLING TO HER BACKSIDE on the spot. The Aviva Stadium errupts in joy and Kimberley screams out in delight as her rival tries to beat the count as quickly as possible instead of perhaps biding her time... she's up at five but wobbles to the side again and the ref has to ask her twice if she's ready to continue. Denise van Outen doesn't think she is but the fight is resumed and Kimba hammers in on the face snapping poor Abi's head back & forth and dumping the struggling girl to the ropes. This time the high earmuff proves worthless again and Walsh rips brutal harpoons to the liver area making the younger blonde scream throughout and just drift into a training sack status come the dying seconds of the round. Kimba just runs out of time to finish her off and looks annoyed when the ref shoves her back but Abi battles the tearful demise and only shakes her head in disgust hugging her aching guts in the proccess. The Birmingham girl looks seriously out of depth now!

Round 5:
Phillips tries to make this fight competitive again but bounces off the high guard early in the fifth and falls into a surgical overhand response that allows Walsh to dig more leather into the fellow blonde's face that immiediately throws Abi on her heels. A sluggish hooking counter skims off the top of Kimberley's gloves and cuts thin air after that which ends in disaster moments later when the Girls Aloud veteran blasts a right hook on the ear and sends Phillips stumbling back to the ropes with eyes closed. She bends forward with another loud yelp and fails to even notice a right hook that catches her on the jaw AND JACK-KNIFES FACE DOWN TO THE CANVAS... Kimba signalls it's all over here but Abi tries to push herself off both arms... she gets up to all fours at seven but it's taking her way too long to beat the cruel count and she sits down on her heels when it reaches ten... she can only look the ref in the eye and beg him to let her continue but of course that's not gonna happen! KO5 Kimberley Walsh!!!

AFTER: That's five in a row for the former Girls Aloud singer who's visibly pumped up by the triumph - or perhaps by that hot streak staying alive - and parades around the ring blowing kisses to the crowd. She grabs the sobbing Abi from the canvas to join her in another circle but the blonde youngster clearly doesn't enjoy the moment here with her head slumped between the shoulders and the face covered by some messed up hair. Kimberley realizes she's not exactly a title contender anymore having been used as a punchbag too often early in her BBU career but she vows to remain the spotlight and tarnish several girls' dreams of striking it big. Well, she was almost drop-kicked into defeat against the unheralded Phillips tonight so Denise van Outen doesn't believe that Walsh is actually that good and Abi should learn a valuable lesson from letting a clear advantage slip through her gloves. Word around Dublin is that Lacey Turner - another actress who made her BBU return not so long ago - is willing to take a shot at the Birmingham blonde and that should be a little easier challenge for the unfortunate prospect.
