BEFORE: The battle for redhead supremacy is set to be decided between two veterans who haven't really set the division on fire yet but are trying to stay relevant in the gatekeeper picture against the odds. Kelly Reilly has won her last two bouts against fellow cougars Kym Marsh and Natalie Bassingthwaighte while the highlight of Natasha Hamilton's career remains splitting a pair of fights against another delightful redhead singer, Nicola Roberts. There's nothing to choose between these two apart from Kelly being five years older but the recent takeover of her stable by Mr Harry Keegan is supposed to ignite new life into some of it's least successful members like Reilly. Several girls were cut from the Girls Friday roster to make room for future signings and Denise van Outen doesn't quite understand why Kelly wasn't one of them. Perhaps if she beats the former Atomic Kitten singer tonight then Mr Keegan's decisions won't need to be analyzed by the BBU TV anchor any further?
Kelly Reilly wears a white basque top, black knickers and black gloves. Long red hair tied in a curly ponytail. Natasha Hamilton wears a black basque top with silver trim, red hotpants and red goves. Long red hair - with a darker shade then her rival - straight, tucked behind the ears. The fight is schduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
If anyone expected a slow start from these two wildcats then he couldn't be more wrong about it since both women charge at each other like it's a one round dash; Natasha slams immediate one-two combo upstairs to force Kelly's hand but she manages to outmuscle the older redhead in close range and land more clean punches up the middle that connect with the chin. Reilly refuses to step away from the exchange but she only skims off the singer's flesh and can't put enough weight behind her shots to make the difference which enables Hamilton to pound her back to the ropes slowly but surely down the stretch. Natasha keeps the attack going for remainder of the round and that's never a bad idea against a slow moving opponent with a leaky guard. Kelly fails to stop the singer's onslaught and is somewhat lucky she didn't suffer visible injuries already!
Round 2:
Kelly responds with a methodical body assault to freeze the singer in the center of the ring in the opening minute but once Natasha hooks up over the top and cleans out the older redhead's temples we're back to the first round display with Hamilton raining punches and seemingly trying to put her opponent away through sheer intensity of the attack. Reilly's guard improves a lot though and at least she stops Natasha from lumping her up so quickly but she can't avoid getting pummelled back to the turnbuckle in the final minute where she can only cover behind the tight earmuff in order to weather the singer's aggression.
Round 3:
Perhaps Kelly wants to wear Natasha out as she doesn't commit into another brawling duell but is simply too slow across the canvas to avoid the singer's leather rush and once the punches begin to stack up on her face again, she has to accept the close range exchange and rips a series on the chest wobbling Hamilton to the side in the proccess. A looping hook on the temple follows but Hamilton tames the counterpunching drill and blasts a series to the ribcage on her own locking the actress in the clinch and shoving her back towards the ropes. She shuts Kelly out thereafter and in fact manages to punish her ab muscles in a hectic struggle before adding a late hook on the jaw that makes Reilly moan in pain at the bell.
Round 4:
Girls Friday adviser Melanie Sykes doesn't look all that pleased in the VIP suites but things only get worse for Reilly who misjudges her fake swing approach and walks into a brutal left hook on the eye that snaps her head back on the spot and enables Hamilton to rain punches over the top in furious fashion that simply thwarts the older redhead's guard. Kelly's eyes roll back when she gets smacked on the lips with a mighty cross hook and when the singer clobbers her with a right hook on the nose she wobbles forward and just tries to wrap herself around her waist.... but Natasha is quick to react and bumps her off with a piercing uppercut on the jugs which is followed by a vicious harpoon on the liver area... AND DOWN GOES REILLY crashing onto her knees and yelping in pain to indicate her misery. Natasha's all fired up as she gestures to the crowd and when the actress beats the count at seven she endures a mouthful of leather with the younger redhead blowing her guard to bits and wrecking her lips into a swollen mess... Kelly's head swivels in disarray but the Girls Friday veteran just can't stop the onslaught and only the bell comes to her rescue when she was screaming out her demise already. One last hook after the bell nails her on the nose and literally knocks down onto her stool but even the ref doesn't care about that and just shoves Hamilton back to her corner without issuing any warning.
Round 5:
Kelly needs time to recover from that horrible round but Natasha squares up to her in no time and dissects the guard with another leather rush; the actress looks all of her 38 years of age as she gets pummelled back to the ropes and the singer just clobbers her up the middle smacking her face into a swollen mess and running red hot to dismantle the fellow carrot haired opponent... nothing comes back from Reilly anymore and when her arms collapse by the side and she aches out another painful indicator that she basically has nothing left to give, the ref shows some mercy and hauls the rampant singer off her battered prey. Poor Reilly didn't register a single strike in the fifth round and the stoppage was neccessary to just salvage her from a career-threatening knockout! TKO5 Natasha Hamilton!!!
AFTER: It's a shame the Atomic Kitten has never risen above a certain level and remains the most lacklustre girlsband in the BBU. Former leader Kerry Katona once got herself fired for a substance abuse and dirty tactics by the Fight Club UK and now Natasha Hamilton gets her revenge on Girls Friday who unceremoniously dumped another former bandmate Liz McClarnon from their line-up. The Kittens heyday sailed off to the sunset over a decade ago and most pundits - Tom Hilton included - probably don't even remember that Hamilton and McClarnon were fairly good buddies back then, long before the Spice Girls internal feuding became a benchmark in the music industry (see Cheryl Cole vs Nadine Coyle).
Denise van Outen reckons Natasha might ask Liz to join her in the Marti's Maulers stable pending the front office approval and they both should stalk the Girls Friday roster together in the foreseeable future. There's nothing like an inside information to make the task much easier! But the rubber match with Nicola Roberts is still on the cards too and despite being 33 years old, Natasha threatens to become a late bloomer if the correct match-ups can be arranged! Watch this space!
