BEFORE: If Dorota Rabczewska lost to Elizabeth Tan earlier on the Bantamweight Pride PPV then the fight between Leah Dizon and Clara Morgane could well have been labelled as the official title eliminator despite the fact that the American showgirl was last present in the ring when the Miranda Kerr vacated straps were on the line and lost to Jessica Schwarz via KO7 scoreline. Many pundits believe she remains the hardest punching bantamweight in BBU and warrants a shot at Una Healy without the eliminator tag. However the rise from the ashes of former champion Clara Morgane justifies similar judgements, the French AV starlet got herself fired by the Latin Union before sitting out the 2014 season and returned with the new stable to spoil the established pecking order again. She's lost only three of her past ten fights but those were to legendary veteran Lisa Maffia, the highly touted and still undefeated Kaya Scodelario and the current champion Una Healy. It's as tough as it gets and she openly vows to beat up Dorota Rabczewska once she hands Leah Dizon her second defeat in succession. The fight for all seasons is on!
Leah Dizon wears a black bikini set with red gloves. Long brown hair straight. Clara Morgane wears a pink one-piece swimsuit with black stripes and white gloves. Long blonde hair in loose waves. Denise van Outen expected the French national colors on display but this outfit comes straight from her AV career that allegedly belongs to the past. Unless Frankie Cocozza has dumped Havana Brown already and scouts the French blonde into his personal trophy room? The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Dizon wastes no time to execute her punching power and rips into the blonde's face with a jabbing assault that catches even such a veteran like Morgane by surprise and shoves her on the back foot seconds into the fight. All or nothing from the American who literally wants to knock Clara's head off inside the opening minute and she smacks the temples with a furious charge before adding an uppercut on the jaw that spins the French hottie back to the ropes. No way through for Clara with any sort of response and she hits the escape button while Leah hassles her around the ring until the bell but comes up short of required punishment as the former champion dekes and dances around on her feet to avoid the American's wrath.
Round 2:
Clara realizes that the American has nothing but destruction plans on her mind but she bravely decides to square up to her and a flurry of punches crashes into her face before she can regret her decision. Dizon is just tearing the blonde up here and pounds her back to the ropes where she settles into punching her guts out once the high earmuff becomes too stubborn to handle. Clara gets shoved butt-in-ropes deep and everytime she tries unload a response from behind the guard she gets whacked up the middle and Leah keeps plugging along until she makes the French actress moan but that only increases her work rate and even Denise van Outen is terrified to watch this one-sided contest!
Round 3:
Dizon seeks another dominant display and all credit to Morgane for soaking up so much already, most of the division would have crumbled under the American barrage already but Clara actually finds a nice hole on the body and while Leah smacks her with a double combo on the jaw, she gets stuffed with a piercing harpoon on the liver area and bends forward into the path of a right handed uppercut on the jaw. Morgane bursts the rack thereafter and punches the brunette backwards in close range before another cross hook tags the nose and makes Leah wince in pain. A well-measured gut wrencher pierces the navel right at the death and Dizon reverts to some explicit language as she walks back to her stool.
Round 4:
Another powerful drive from Dizon finds the blonde's cheeks but allthough Clara's head snaps back the girl is tough as nails and refuses to buckle while digging her left hand on the liver and sinking the brunette into more spasms. As much as impressive Leah is on the offense, she gets exposed in the vulnerable spot and Morgane rips into her body enforcing a quick clinch. A battle of strenght allows the French actress to push her foe back towards the ropes and even Dizon's ftantic efforts to pound her on the kidneys comes up short. Another bump off by the ropes gains Clara the separation she needs and she crushes Leah's jaw with a right hook before adding a left hand on the navel to bury the former title challenge amid more aching yelps at the bell.
Round 5:
Dizon goes all hit & miss as Morgane steps back and takes her foot off the gas. That's a dangerous tactics by the blonde but she owns the superior agility and footwork at this stage and actually makes Leah look a little sluggish already despite the fight barely reaching half-distance. The precision goes astray aside from a single left hook on the eye but Clara's resistance is one of the best in the whole division and the former AV starlet can develop a versatile approach at will which clearly frustrates the gassing out brunette who signs off the fruitless round with more expletives. And Clara just nods back to Melanie Sykes in the Girls Friday corner and seems very happy with her performance thus far.
Round 6:
Clara keeps hanging back and lures Leah into more fruitless jabbing but the American just can't help herself and remains in highly aggressive mode that certainly affects her conditioning. And when she skims off the top of the blonde's gloves to wobble forward, Morgane finally let it rip and nails the brunette on the nose before adding a hook to the breadbasket. Dizon loses her footing and bends forward crashing her chin into Clara's shoulder and slumps on her knees. However Morgane romps into her guts and stuffs her up in the center of the ring firing from both sides and pounding the suddenly cumbersome looking opponent back to the ropes. A left/right hooking combo finds the chin again and swivels Leah's head to the side so a vicious hook on the solar plexus meets no resistance and allows Clara to end the round thumping unanswered leather up the middle and leave the American sagging out of breath.
Round 7:
Leah doesn't have the strenght to maintain the high tempo pursuit anymore but it's a little to late to recover the damage as Clara pounds her over the top and snaps the head back repeatedly dominating the close range exchange in the opening minute. That's more like one-way traffic now and Leah drops on her heels before too long but gets stacked on the liver area and can't escape the heat whatsoever; she gets dumped onto the ropes thereafter as the blonde restores the methodical attack and launches more clean punches on the rack to remove more air from the brunette's lungs. Leah is desperately out of breath at the bell again and suddenly she's a long way back from securing another title shot this year. On the other hand it's all smiles for Sykes & Morgane in the Girls Friday corner!
Round 8:
Morgane romps to the gut after ducking a head hunting combo that was simply too slow from the American to make any kind of impact and drops Leah onto her heels again when the blonde just ravages the liver area and slumps the former title challenger into a desperate clinching effort. However a quick bump off underlines Clara's strenght and she easily beats the aching brunette for a piercing hook on the chin before adding a right hand on the ear that makes Dizon scream out in pain.... AND A LEFT HOOK ON THE BOOBS PULLS THE PLUG on the trembling American and sends her tumbling down on her backside in the center of the ring! The Irish crowd errupts in delight even though a French victory isn't neccessarily the most popular result on this side of the channel... but Leah is desperate to catch her breath and hugs her rack in visible despair... she's up at eight but spits out her mouthguard and truly looks like a fish thrown out of the water. She keeps flapping her hands but doesn't respond to the referee's call and only bends forward to meet the crushing reality of defeat. TKO8 Clara Morgane!!!
AFTER: This is probably the biggest win for Clara Morgane since she wrecked another American Alice Eve in three rounds back in November 2013 and whatever plans Dorota Rabczewska had for the near future, they will have to include the French test one way or another! Because Clara Morgane simply mauled the fearsome Leah Dizon into complete exhaustion and that's one of the most shocking developments in the battle between two hard-hitting KO speciallists. Even Denise van Outen can't believe that Dizon could be pounded into such a disarray and the proud American doesn't have the strenght anymore to complain about the premature stoppage - which was anything but premature!
Melanie Sykes jumps into the ring and lifts Clara in the air before they share a friendly laugh and ponder the Doda takedown plan already. The Polish singer is nowhere near to be seen at this moment but perhaps she suspected long before this result what she's signed up for! Morgane is back to her best with the Girls Friday and the future looks very bright for the former AV actress.
Final result: Clara Morgane def. Leah Dizon TKO8.
