Olivia Munn vs. Margot Robbie

BEFORE:

Pair of gorgeous, top-flight bantams oozing confidence coming into this one. Margot's been on the big stage many times and appears to be a champion in waiting, while Munn's already worn the belts and is a good bet to do it again.

"Livvy's one of the best around," says the lovely Aussie blonde. "But, I've been in with the best around before. And I've beaten some of the best around before. I can beat Munn. And, that's just what I'm going to do."

"Oh, yeah, she's the blonde bombshell all right," says Munn with a smile. "But, my career's been all about beating blonde bombshells, and won't Margot look cute when she's on her back joining the club?"

ROUND ONE:

Robbie, as always, likes to close behind the left, tuck that chin, work forward, grab canvas. Good strategy at times, but, against a hitter like Munn, that can only lead to a firefight, and that's exactly what happens. Livvy holding ground and banging back and we're down in the trenches that quickly, hooking body, banging head, standing toe to toe and grinding away. These are Munn terms, but Margot holding her own on them, giving as good as she gets in the heavy exchanges. As the round goes on, there's more in-close work, clinching and wrestling around as both fighters try to impose will on their respective opponents. Again, Margot holding her own against Olivia, who's a master at this kind of stuff. Final minute sees loads of body work as both fighters make a serious investment. And, it's going to take one to make a difference with sturdy frames like these. At the bell, very close, but Robbie's dug out the first.

ROUND TWO:

Second sees more of the same, both women willing to work close and inside, and, again, Robbie holds her own on terms that are definitely what Olivia looks for. Munn really working body this frame, determined to use Margot up to the ribs, belly, midsection, digging away viciously with both hands until...UPPERCUT, MARGOT! Perfectly placed as Munn was ducking her head and Livvy is ROCKED! Munn stumbling backward, nearly falling to her rump and Margot is all over her. Robbie sensing a huge early knockout here and she's going all in to make that happen. Munn trapped on the ropes, getting worked over in a major way, able to do enough to keep the referee at bay, but taking a serious licking. Robbie hammering her with both hands, wobbles Munn again in the final 30 seconds. Ref looking in closely as shaky Livvy clinches and holds on. Brunette able to run clock and escape the round, but it's Margot wide and Robbie up 20-18.

ROUND THREE:

Margot forward behind that left jab and now Olivia giving ground. Munn's legs unable to hold canvas after the pasting she took in the last stanza. Slowly Margot backs her rival up, working a hard left jab and follow on right hands. Slowly...SPIDER-FLY! SPIDER-FLY! Munn walks Robbie into a right cross and Margot is GOBSMACKED! The blonde frozen by that right hand, stunned in the middle of the ring and now Munn is all in! Olivia bashing Margot around, looking to finish the gorgeous, stumbling Aussie in quite the turnaround. Margot covering up, hurt again by a short left hook that nearly puts her on the canvas. It's a matter of time now, as Munn is shooting fish in a barrel here and the referee is looking in closely, but Margot's hanging on, keeping the guard high, clinching, desperately trying to run clock like her rival did in the previous round. By the end, Robbie's on the ropes and soaking, but she hangs on. At the bell, she's still upright, and, despite a wide round for Livvy, still up 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Munn looking to finish and Margot giving ground. Complete 180 from the start of last round, only there's no spider and fly going on this time. Robbie's legs are still wobbly, and Livvy's taking full advantage of the blonde, battering her around the ring as Margot desperately counters in spots and tries to solidify her front. She can't. Overhand right, Munn! Margot staggered. Short left hook. BLONDE GIRL DOWN! BLONDE GIRL DOWN! Margot face down at Munn's feet. Livvy to a neutral corner as the count begins. Margot pushes to hands and knees at five. Somehow gets back to her feet at eight. Referee not sure he's going to let this go on, but the pleading look in Robbie's eyes seems to push him over the edge. He waives Olivia forward. Carnage. Munn absolutely abusing poor Margot, who can do nothing but desperately hang on. For over a minute and a half, Munn simply pounds the blonde, but Margot won't go. She's hanging on, literally, at the end, clinching, holding Munn's arms. Again, she's still standing at the bell, but, now, Munn is up 38-37, and Margot looks completely wrecked.

ROUND FIVE:

Munn on a rampage. This is Livvy at her most dangerous. She has her opponent hurt and flustered, and she's able to bring the physical in a big way. Margot desperately trying to stabilize her front, but can't get it done. She's in retreat everywhere, flanks rolling up, center collapsing. It's not quite a rout, but it's perilously close to same. Munn is just all OVER her from the opening seconds of the round. Livvy taking body, working upstairs in combination, everything working together to create blizzards of leather that Robbie can't slow down let alone stop. To her credit, the blonde beauty is game. She hangs in as best she can and takes every opportunity to counter, but she's forced back again and again and spends most of the round covering up and trying to stay off the ropes. By the final seconds, she's taking a licking up against the cables, and, when the bell finally rings, it's Munn wide and with a 48-46 lead.


ROUND SIX:

Munn looking a little gassed as this one starts. She's been doing a lot of heavy lifting the last few rounds, and has definitely slowed down as a result. This gives Margot just a bit of a breather, and the gorgeous Aussie takes advantage. She's able to slow Olivia's advance, and, eventually, stop the retreat and begin fighting on even terms again. Margot able to set her feet and get the jab going, electing to box at middle distance rather than try to work forward against the brunette. Munn willing to work on these terms as well, clearly needing a respite from the constant action of the last three rounds. By the middle of the round, we've got good, two-way boxing, with both fighters working off their respective jabs and putting punches together well, none of this a surprise, as blonde and brunette have shown they can be effective on a tactical level, too. At the bell, it's close, but Robbie claims the points, not only stopping the bleeding, but cutting Munn's lead to 57-56.

ROUND SEVEN:

Munn more aggressive as this one starts, wants to close and get the physical on again. Margot demurs. Robbie giving ground with a back slide step, turning with Munn, using the left jab to create distance, looking to drop rights in on Livvy as the brunette tries to work past defenses. Munn so slick, though, moving the head, hands, gloves, getting to spots and getting off. Margot firing back. NASTY exchanges developing as both fighters land some bombs and BOOM! Robbie LIGHTS MUNN UP with a short right hook! Livvy GOBSMACKED, stumbling, looking like going down, but those great legs hold her up. Now, Robbie to the offensive in a major way, rolling back Munn gains of the middle rounds, has the brunette backing and covering. Olivia keeping the guard high, selling body cheap, but Robbie not interested now. She's looking to put the former champ away, but, while she can roll up points, she can't get it done. The Munnster not only hangs on, but seems to have shaken off the worst of it by round's end. It's Margot wide, though, and Robbie's evened things at 66.

ROUND EIGHT:

Margot working forward again, chin tucked, guard high. She's applying pressure now, looking to exploit gains from the last round. Munn giving a little canvas initially, but begins holding ground pretty quickly and the firefight begins. No interior body work this time, just heavy exchange of leather after heavy exchange of leather as both bantam beauties look to impose will and force retreat. And, slowly, it's Munn who comes out best, backing up the blonde with salvo after salvo. Margot giving determined resistance, but Munn's on the offensive again. Until she isn't. It's a keyhole counter right hand that catches Livvy clean and turns those great legs to spaghetti. Robbie follows with a three-punch combination, the last a hook that blasts into Munn's chin and sends her pooling to the mat at the blonde's feet! There will be a count, but it's a formality! Munn was out before she hit the canvas! It's over and your winner by KO8 after one heck of a fight is Margot Robbie!

AFTER:

"That was huge for me," gushes a still-breathless Margot in the aftermath. "I've fought a lot of former champions before, and one current champion. And, I gave them all fights, but I couldn't close the deal. Well, that was a former champion in there against me tonight, and she had me hurt and behind and in trouble, but, still the deal got CLOSED."
