BEFORE:

"I know I don't have an FCBA win yet," says Miranda with a smile. "But, I can fight with these girls. I'm getting better every time out, and, tonight's the night I break through."

"I kind of like Miranda," says Jane with a nod. "That won't keep me from knocking her out, mind. But, after I do, I'll shake her hand."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's..."

McCarthy: "A TERRIBLE song that sounds like someone with their foot in a vise!"

O'Dell: "A-HEM! That is 'Leave It All To Me', by the lovely young lady on her way to the ring right now, Miranda Cosgrove..."

Cassie: "And, allow me to point out that MIRANDA has not been LEGALLY ENJOINED from singing, UNlike a certain person sitting at this table..."

McCarthy: "And, let ME point out SHUT UP, SCABBO!"

O'Dell (sighing): "I'm just going to have a bottle put right here at the table at the beginning of the night. That's what I'm going to do. Miranda into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a pink and blue number..."

McCarthy: "Not getting in 'Playboy' with THAT body..."

Cassie: "Tess, have you heard the theory that 'Playboy' stopped doing nudes so we wouldn't have to look at Mac naked anymore?"

Tess: "Um..."

McCarthy: "That is NOT...YOU LITTLE...SHUT UP, WALMART!"

Tess: "What did I say?"

O'Dell: "Drink up, boys. Meanwhile, that's 'Pleasant Nightmare' by Alih Jey banging through this arena, and that can only mean that 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy, is on her way to the ring..."

Tess: "Levy has had a good start here in the FCBA. Has all the physical tools to compete in this division..."

McCarthy: "But is doomed by being managed by Weirdo and trained by that group of slackers he hired. And, he keeps adding losers to it. Grace Park? The only thing she can train is maybe a SEAL...and not the kind in the Navy, either. I'm talking about the ones that play little horns..."

O'Dell: "Are we REALLY discussing trained seals right now? Levy into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that peach bikini she likes. And, we're about ready to go. Let's get some picks. Tess favors Jane. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Cosgrove's a typical Dancing Hooker opponent, no FCBA wins. Levy."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, here we go, and Cosgrove charging out of the corner just winging away at Levy! Jane surprised, giving ground and GETS CLIPPED WITH A RIGHT HAND! Levy wobbled by that right hand from Cosgrove, who's all in from the opening seconds of this one! Miranda pouring on the fire as Levy backs and covers..."

McCarthy: "Got to hand it to this kid. She's a solid dog with nothing to lose, so she came out firing."

O'Dell: "And that aggression paying off in a big way. The brunette has the buzzed redhead trapped on the ropes in a tight earmuff. Cosgrove just laying down a carpet bombing right now, banging leather off Levy's guard, cuffing her around out there. Jane jabbing back in spots, but mostly just leaning back in the ropes and waiting for this barrage to end."

Cassie: "And Cosgrove showing no signs of slowing down, Jenny!"

O'Dell: "She most definitely is not. Miranda just a buzz saw of leather. Levy might be more surprised than hurt at this point, but, whatever the ratio, it's working to keep her at bay on the ropes while Miranda gets off lusty. Ten seconds left in the round and it can't end soon enough for Levy. There's the bell. Miranda wide in the first."

Tess: "And, I'm betting you could have gotten some pretty good odds before the fight on us seeing what we just saw."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second underway and Cosgrove after Jane again. Levy responding with counter-fire now and it is ON in the middle of the ring! Cosgrove swinging away like she did in the first, but Jane firing right back in kind. Nobody giving an inch and nobody willing to go over to the defensive!"

Cassie: "This is one heck of a fire fight right now! Both fighters getting a lot into those punches. Both taking solid shots but hanging in there."

O'Dell: "This is about imposing will and refusing to have it imposed on you. And, now Levy working some body, hooking the ribs and belly, and Cosgrove, who's been head hunting to this point responds to THAT in kind as well. Jane BLASTS a hook to the midsection, and Miranda THUMPS her in the ribs in response..."

Tess: "You thinking maybe Cosgrove is trying to make a statement here, Jenny?"

O'Dell: "No doubt about it, and it's being heard loud and clear. And FELT loud and clear, too, as is Levy's response here in the second. Neither fighter slowing down as we head into the final seconds of this stanza. Head, body, back to the head. Hard, long, spirited exchanges of fire. Five seconds left. There's the bell. Close one to Levy."

McCarthy: "And that means we're even at 19 after two, but I still think Cosgrove's been the winner so far."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Back to work in the third and, again, the ladies just meeting in the center of the ring and letting the hands go. Leather flying from all directions, as we see exchange after exchange, with neither fighter backing up an inch, and neither slowing down despite the barrage of shell she's taking..."

Cassie: "And there's nothing sloppy about any of this. Miranda was in the first round, for effect, but, since then, it's been sound stuff on both sides, just a lot of action."

O'Dell: "Both fighters moving head, shoulders and hands. Neither sacrificing defense, but there's no question it's all about the offense for both as the work rate has done nothing but increase as these last two rounds have gone on. Both flyweights putting punches together and both landing a good percentage, Mac..."

McCarthy: "No doubt about it, and the punch stats will bear that out. Something's got to give here, though. You can't just have two girls stand in front of one another and bang away without somebody getting hurt."

O'Dell: "Heading into the final 30 seconds of this one. Another sharp exchange, with Cosgrove getting the better of that one. Levy digging some body as we head toward the bell. Amanda pinking up a bit around the midsection from all the work Jane's put in. Cosgrove a good left hook, Levy a nice right hand, and there's the bell. Close to Amanda."

Tess: "And that puts Cosgrove back up 29-28 after three."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Right back to a firefight to start the fourth. Levy and Cosgrove standing toe-to-toe and going at it. Sitting down on punches, getting some real power behind everything. Again, good defense being played, as head, shoulders, hands moving, but both emphasizing the offense here, looking to get as much heavy leather home as possible..."

McCarthy: "And, Miranda standing right in there with Jane, who's supposed to be the harder hitter."

O'Dell: "GOOD right hand, Cosgrove, and BIG COUNTER BY LEVY AND MIRANDA IS HURT! Levy a short right hook that wobbled the knees of the brunette and Cosgrove in DESPERATE trouble as Levy goes all in! Jane banging the brunette back into the ropes and pounding away with both hands."

Cassie: "This is not a good situation for Miranda. Jane's a very good finisher for a fighter with as little experience as she has."

O'Dell: "Cosgrove in the tight earmuff, trying to hang on here. She's not doing very much as Levy pours on the punishment, but she's doing enough to keep the referee from stopping it. Jane going body now, as there's a fire sale going on down there. Levy thumping Miranda's midsection, bunching up the brunette as we head into the final seconds. One more good right from Jane and there's the bell. Cosgrove survives."

Tess: "But, Levy takes it wide to even things at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth begins with Jane working forward now. She's in that slight crouch, hands high, working in behind that solid left jab. Miranda still not sure of the legs. She's giving ground, trying to stay off square and off the ropes, but Jane a very clever fighter, slowly working her backward, looking to trap her against the cables..."

McCarthy: "Cosgrove needs to get busier, slow Levy down with some punches."

O'Dell: "Jane a SOLID combination that shook Miranda! Cosgrove hurt again and now she IS trapped on the ropes. Levy going all in a second time, hammering way with both hands, rocking Cosgrove's head back and forth as the redhead pounds punches off the brunette's guard. Miranda hanging on literally now, clinching, trying to slow Jane down..."

Tess: "Levy showing that strength, shoving off and going right back to work."

O'Dell: "And she's pummeling that body now trying to bring down the guard. Miranda taking tons of punishment to the ribs and midsection as Jane REEFS in hooks and then goes back upstairs looking to finish. Again, Cosgrove clinching, trying to run clock. Levy shoves her off and lands a BIG combination that staggers Miranda at the bell! Another big round for Levy..."

Cassie: "And Cosgrove looking to be in bad shape on her way back to the corner. She's only down 48-47, but this isn't looking good for the brunette."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Levy looking for the kill now, again coming forward behind that jab, slight crouch, hands high. Cosgrove giving ground, trying to jab for space, but Jane not having it. She's working past Miranda's defenses, squaring her up, and banging away. Cosgrove tying up again, trying to slow down the redhead's offense..."

McCarthy: "Again, this kid has to punch for respect."

O'Dell: "Levy punching free, backing Cosgrove up with a sharp combination. Miranda working to stay off the ropes, managing to do that at least, but Jane calling the tune here, aggressive offensively, landing hard shot with both hands, forcing Miranda to retreat again and again, and DROPPING HER WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Right hook, Levy and DOWN GOES COSGROVE!"

Cassie (singing): "Turn out the liiiggghhhhtttts, the party's ooooverrrrrr..."

O'Dell: "Miranda dropped to her back with a minute to go in the sixth! Levy to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Cosgrove rolls to her belly. Eight. Nine. TEN! IT'S OVER! And your winner by KO6 is 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy!"

Tess: "And, I note you didn't say 'in one-punch fashion, Jenny, because that wasn't about one punch. The right hook finished it, but that was an accumulation of heavy shot for two and a half rounds. Cosgrove shipped some of it, but, eventually, it became too much."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Jane Levy, and, Jane, I notice you were as good as your word and went to shake hands with Miranda after it was over."

Jane (nodding): "I like Miranda. She's gutty, and she can fight. I hope she gets other opportunities in the FCBA. This wasn't personal for me, it was business."

Tess: "And, you've taken care of business pretty well."

Jane (smiling): "So far, so good. But, there are plenty of challenges ahead and I look forward to them."
