BEFORE:

"I was wondering if I'd EVER get a shot in the FCBA," says Leona with a lovely smile. "But, it finally happened, and I'm very excited to be here in Philadelphia, and, tonight, I'll show everyone on this side of the pond what they've been missing."

"She's quick and has power," says Leelee with a nod. "She's not going to be any walkover in there. I'm ready for a challenge. And, as always, I'm up to it."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Bleeding Love' you hear behind us, and that means the lady who had a huge international hit with that song, the lovely Leona Lewis, is on her way to ringside."

Tess: "Lewis a girl who's bulked up in the last few years. Always been solidly built, but she's a welter now and looked every ounce of it at the weigh in."

O'Dell: "Lewis into the ring and helped off with the robe by the Beever's Babes corner crew to reveal a blue number with white polka dots that shows off a toned figure that does, indeed, look every inch a welter and behind us you now hear 'Uprising' by Muse..."

McCarthy: "And THAT means one of Weirdo's two REAL fighters, the lovely Leelee Sobieski, is on her way down here. And, once again, I've done Weirdo's managing for him, because, if you'll recall, I suggested, no DEMANDED at the last Asylum that he move this girl back to welterweight and give her a title push, and that's EXACTLY what he's done."

Cassie: "You know, when Uncle Wiz had the discussions with Pointy and the Front Street management group about the decision to move Sobieski back to welter, he MENTIONED that you thought it was a good idea..."

McCarthy: "I KNEW it..."

Cassie: "But, he decided to do it ANYWAY..."

McCarthy: "SHUT IT, SCABBO!"

O'Dell (sighing): "Leelee taps glove to fist with Mac on her way down the aisle, climbs into the ring, and is helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that black two-piece we've become familiar with, and, we're about ready to go. Time to get some picks. Tess favors Leelee. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Sobieski. No question."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Unanimous again. And, here we go. Lewis wants to work forward behind the left hand. No surprise there, because Leona likes a physical game, if you've seen her work in the BBU, and, with the size and power she has now, I wouldn't expect anything different. Leelee has other ideas though, she wants to box."

McCarthy: "And, that's no surprise, either, because Sobieski's one of the best boxing welters the FCBA has. She moves the hands and feet very well."

O'Dell: "And, you're seeing that right now. She's getting that heavy left jab, the Front Street Jab, on target, slowing Leona down and leaving her open for right hands. Lewis undeterred, still trying to close distance, but it's not happening for her, as Leelee's using the left to enforce the spacing she wants."

Tess: "Lewis not just taking, though. She doesn't really want to work from long range, but she's countering from there."

O'Dell: "Not getting as much done as Leelee, but she is scoring some. Sobieski, meanwhile, is into rhythm early in this one. She's getting punches put together and putting flurries on target. Leona game, but taking more fire as this round goes on. Ten seconds left in the opening stanza. Good combination, Leelee and there's the bell."

Cassie: "Sobieski cleanly in the first."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "More aggression from Lewis in the second. Leona walking in on Sobieski with a high guard, determined to get in close and bang. She's working past the defenses and making a much more physical fight out of this. Leelee not retreating, going to hang in and bang away with the brunette..."

McCarthy: "I like the strategy. Don't need to be fighting off your back foot here."

O'Dell: "And, Sobieski absolutely not doing that. She's willing to work in close. Neither fighter flat footed here, mind. Both using the feet to slide and angle, both working hard to get to spots where they can get leather on target. Leona having a much better time of things on these terms, and we're seeing a much closer round as a result."

Cassie: "No suprise, because Lewis has bulked up to welter, but she hasn't gotten any taller. She's giving away a few inches of both height and reach to Leelee, meaning she'll have issues on the outside."

O'Dell: "But, on the inside, not so much. And, if you didn't think she could hold her own with an elite welter in there, well, she can, because she's doing it. Lewis has every bit the power and strength that the blonde does, and she's demonstrating that pretty ably right now. Final seconds of the second tick off and there's the bell. Close. Leona."

Tess: "Even at 19 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Lewis again walking forward and Sobieski stops her cold with a one-two. That brought Lewis up short for just as second. Leona right back forward and STOPPED AGAIN AND THIS TIME SHE'S HURT! Sobieski caught her with that left hand and then dropped the right on her like a BOMB!"

McCarthy: "THIS is why this girl should be pushed at the welterweight title. How she hasn't had a shot to this point is beyond me!"

O'Dell: "Lewis forced to cover up as Sobieski buzz bombs her. Leona holding ground, but she's taking a pasting right now and she's WOBBLED with a left hook! Leona shaken by that left hand, backed up a couple of steps. Sobieski hooking body, then going back upstairs to back Leona up with a hard right..."

Tess: "No question about how sturdy Lewis is, though. She's taken some good shots and she's still standing."

O'Dell: "And, she's shaking this off pretty quickly, too. Lewis countering now, firing back at Leelee. Sobieski staying on the offensive, though, going to keep this run going as we head toward the end of the round. Lewis getting touched up some at range, but she's landing in response as we head to the bell. Action packed round ends with a SHARP exchange of rights. Bell. Sobieski wide."

Cassie: "And, Leelee back on the lead 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "No question what Leona's plan is as we head to the fourth. She's right back forward. She's going to win or lose this thing working to close with the blonde. Leelee scoring as Leona moves in, but Lewis working past the glove and banging a little body now. Sobieski responding in kind."

Cassie: "And, like we saw in the second, Lewis can hold her own pretty well when they're in close."

O'Dell: "Can and is. This round almost a copy of the second, though we're seeing more work to the body in this stanza. Still seeing that good foot movement from both fighters. Nobody flat-footed, but this is war at close quarters as both blonde and brunette look to grind out the points and grind down the opposition."

Tess: "Wondering if Sobieski might not be better served with a back slide step or something of that nature to get that distance she wants."

O'Dell: "Doesn't seem to be the plan at the moment, anyway. Leelee holding ground like she did in the second. Plenty effective in close, it's just that Leona's pretty effective at this range, too. Lewis very strongly built in the lower body, generates quite a bit of power with those legs, and that also makes her tough to move. Ten seconds to go in the fourth. One final solid trade and bell. Close. Leelee."

Tess: "Sobieski now up 39-37."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Pattern set in this one. Lewis forward off the bell. Leona taking fire as she works in, but, again, able to get inside and get going, body the target initially, and Leelee again willing to respond in kind. Lots of meat being tenderized now, ribs hooked, midsections thumped, but, then it's time to work upstairs and LEWIS ROCKS SOBIESKI!"

Cassie: "Right hook on the button!"

O'Dell: "And, now it's Leelee covering up as Leona get begins throwing everything up to and including the kitchen sink at her! Lewis going all in to finish this thing now. Sobieski being forced back, keeping the guard high as Leona's stepping into everything, winging away trying to find the one punch that will end it..."

McCarthy: "Leelee slick on defense, giving ground slowly, staying off the ropes, running clock here."

O'Dell: "And, the clock is running out. About 30 seconds left in this one. Lewis not slowing down at all, backing Sobieski up again. Finally has her to the ropes with about fifteen seconds to go. Leelee jabbing back, but Leona in complete control of this one right to the bell. Lewis wide in the fifth."

Tess: "48-47 at the half."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "We enter the sixth with Lewis out aggressively after Sobieski. Leelee willing to give ground now for the first time. Might be that the legs aren't all the way back after that fifth round. Leona has the left working, wants to step in behind. Leelee wants space. She's jabbing and moving for it..."

Cassie: "And moving pretty well, it looks like."

O'Dell: "Have to agree with you. Looks like the legs aren't an issue. Might just be a change of strategy here as Sobieski works back and right away from Lewis' right hand. Leona working ahead carefully, not going to walk into anything. She's using the left to set everything up, dropping in rights off it."

Tess: "And, Leelee working the counters now, creating distance and scoring points as Leona closes it."

O'Dell: "Lewis, meanwhile, scoring plenty when she gets to the range she wants, and the result is a pretty good two-way round once again. Leona showing plenty of savvy here, Mac, resisting the temptation to get too aggressive."

McCarthy: "And it's plenty tempting when you're the underdog thinking you might pull a big upset with one punch."

O'Dell: "Final seconds ticking away in the sixth. Lewis a nice combination and Sobieski responds with a good right hand. That's the bell. Close to Leona."

Tess: "And, we're even at 57."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "We head into the seventh now, and we're on the same terms as the sixth. Lewis coming forward soundly, high guard, left jabs. Leelee slowly working back and right, sliding away from Leona's right hand, making the brunette work to close and square, scoring as she attempts to do so."

Cassie: "Lewis showing excellent stamina for a girl who hasn't been in the ring in nearly two years and only twice since 2011. Doesn't show any signs of slowing down."

O'Dell: "She is not. Still aggressive. Still working hard. To no great surprise, no slow down for Leelee, either. The blonde, as always, in great shape and looking plenty strong as we head for the late rounds. Lewis stepping in, hooking body, and GETTING DROPPED! Lewis dropped to her back with a right hook!"

Tess: "What a punch! Walked her into it perfectly!"

O'Dell: "Sobieski to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Leona rolls to her belly. Seven. Eight. Pushes to hands and knees. Nine. TEN! Lewis can't get off the deck, and it's OVER!"

McCarthy: "One punch, baby! Just one punch!"

O'Dell: "And, your winner by KO7 is 'The Polish Princess', Leelee Sobieski!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Leelee Sobieski, and, Leelee, things got plenty physical in there..."

Leelee: "That's the kind of fighter she is. She's kind of reinvented herself over the last few years, and she's big, sturdy, and hits very hard. She can be a competitive welter in the FCBA if she gets work."

Tess (smiling): "How's it feel to be back in the division?"

Leelee: "I'm not going to lie, it will be nice to be working toward a shot at the title again. But, it's all about the fights for me. As long as I get regular opportunities to get in the ring, I'm happy. The rest is gravy."
