(from Cardiff Arena, Wales)

(Marti's Maulers vs Fight Club UK)

BEFORE: Abi Phillips fell to Kimberley Walsh on her BBU return last month but still vows to beat Lacey Turner up tonight and according to Georgie Thompson she's not without a chance since the brunette's own comeback against Melanie Vallejo last November looked impressive at first but required another test considering that Vallejo was only making her BBU debut in that fight.

And that test comes during the Grudge Sessions PPV which is a surprising choice but with both girls in desperate need of regular work this fight could turn rust into diamonds sooner rather than later. If Zoe Lister's dislocated jaw in the card opener wasn't good enough to set the grudge tone then perhaps Abi and Lacey will literally pound each other apart to warrant this high-profile appearance? Let's hope so!

Abi Phillips wears a navy blue basque top, white knickers and black gloves. Lomg blonde hair tied in a loose ponytail. Lacey Turner wears a lacy black corset and red gloves. Long brown hair tied in a small bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Both girls push forward with an early jabbing drive but lack real strenght despite plenty of effort and bounce off each other's high guard to quickly flame out the aggressive charge. Instead they settle into single striking from behind their mitts and that hurts the grudge factor a lot before Abi actually shows more courage and leaps forward trying to smack the brunette up the middle. However she misjudges her shots and swings into thin air which in turn allows Turner to crack a body assault response and push the blonde back towards the ropes in the dying seconds of the otherwise very even round. The intended follow up goes over Abi's head and a late clinch results in a shoving stalemate at the bell.

Round 2:
Lacey tries to up the pace but bounces off the blonde's guard early and eats a quick left hook on the temple before Abi opens up from both flanks and buries the brunette under a proper leather barrage. Turner swings back from the back foot but only grazes the cheeks and has to yield some real estate when she gets whacked on the cheeks with Phillips showing supreme confidence and execution. Blonde stalking follows and has Lacey reeling on her toes which surprises a lot of people inside the Cardiff Arena. Eventually Abi's committement is rewarded inside the final minute when she tags the retreating opponent with a right-on-right clubbing exchange and drops Turner butt-in-ropes with a sinking uppercut on the boobs that briefly renders the brunette breathless.

Round 3:
Phillips clearly in her stalking stride from the bell, she powers ahead to punish Turner's cheeks but this time the brunette refuses to step back and delivers a breadbasket response to freeze the blonde out in the center of the ring. Abi misses a couple of hooks upstairs and gets wrenched on the navel before wrapping herself around Lacey's waist and shoving her into the ropes amid some aching spasms from both hellcats. Lacey looks just a tad nervous here according to Kate Abdo and she fails to make her shots count in the clinch as well. When the ref separates the gals, it's Abi who finds the initial punch again and keeps the brunette along the ropes with a flurry of leather upstairs. That's more than enough to secure another contest and the look on Katie Price's face in the FCUK corner says it all, Lacey needs to step things up or else she'll be chasing a haymaker one-hit wonder.

Round 4:
This is a far cry from the Walsh fiasco and Phillips stuffs the brunette up in the middle of the ring with another powerful drive that exposes Lacey's sluggish approach and raises serious doubts about her 4-0 record to date. However the brunette bravely fends off a jabbing drive up the middle and clinches the blonde forcing a lenghty stalemate that only ends when Abi barks in her ear and delivers a sinking hook on the liver area to gain separation when the ref was already making his way to dislodge the struggle. AND PHILLIPS RIFFLES A LEFT HOOK immediately thereafter that catches Lacey on the ear and sends her rolling down the windows before she sags on the ropes with a loud gasp... her feet are swamped to a halt and she just can't react in time for the blonde's brutal hook on the left brow ridge... DOWN GOES TURNER... the undefeated brunette hits the canvas on her bum and that was a critical move from the visibly more agile opponent... Abi screams out in delight and bunny hops around the fallen actress before the ref shoves her back however Lacey's up on her feet at six and looks livid with the experience... she tangles with the blonde in the center of the ring but comes out of the exchange the worse to wear as Abi adds more hooks on the left eye and leaves Turner nursing a huge shiner at the bell with Katie Price already arguing with the ref about some alleged dirty tricks from the Maulers blonde. What gives?

Round 5:
Another stalking drive opens the fifth and sends Lacey into a hectic retreat when Abi threatens to work on that wounded left eye. However the aerial attack becomes too predictable before too long and allows Turner to bide some time in mid distance until Phillips' superior footwork comes to the fore and allows her to dump some point blank range heat on the cumbersome brunette. Lacey survives the body attack by clinching the blonde but gets shoves deep butt-in-ropes on the two minute mark and yelps straight into Abi's ear while soaking up the liver area menace and at the bell she looks shoer on energy supply as Phillips begins to run away with the scorecards.

Round 6:
Not exactly Hail Mary time for Lacey yet and at least she halts the repeated blonde pressure by sticking some single uppercuts on the rack & jaw in close range to make Abi think better of it. It's not very often that two relatively inexperienced fighters show so much tacitcal poise but even Abi isn't that dumb to ignore her scorecards advantage and she lets Turner wear herself out in a spirited but fruitless pursuit thereafter before looping more counterpunching menace in the final minute. Lacey winces in a mix of anger & pain when a late hook finds the wounded left eye again but she still sinks Phillips on the death when she leaps into her cleavage with an uppercut swing and hoofs the blonde's guard aside to make a rare connection. However that might not be good enough to even win the round as Abi sports a massive smile while heading back to her corner.

Round 7:
Abi has Lacey right where she wants her and decides to enforce another injury stoppage on the card to follow suit on Zoe Lister's dislocated jaw. However her efforts to cut Lacey's eye into a swollen mess are too predictable down the stretch and what's worse, she remains unaware of the brunette's last hurrah plans... AND SHE GETS CAUGHT with a belting hook on the liver just as she bunny hopped to deliver an uppercut on the chin herself to set up more heat over the top... LACEY SMOKES HER ON THE NOSE moments later taking full advantage of the liver shot that wobbled Abi with a painful grimace on her face... CUE IN THE RIGHT HOOK ON THE JAW that lifts the blonde off her feet AND DUMPS HER FLAT ON HER BACK just seconds later... AND THE GIRL IS CRIPPLED... Lacey sprints back to Katie & co. and the ref begins the count with some of the viewers still needing instant reply to see what just happened... and suddenly we're at eight and the blonde is only up to all fours and that's all too late now... she wobbles back on her side and cries out in pain while holding her liver area and you can hear the champaigne bottles pop in the FCUK corner instead... KO7 Lacey Turner in come-from-behind fashion!!!

AFTER: There was nothing that indicated the eventual outcome of this fight as Abi Phillips did all she could to impose her presence on Lacey Turner and basically just needed to either knock her out or go the distance to secure a landslide decision victory... the seventh round miracle happened so fast that even the BBU TV crew doesn't know where to start the fight review but Kate Abdo correctly indicates that Abi's punching resistance is her biggest problem and she was simply lucky that Turner couldn't nail her with enough power for so long. Well, that's for Tom Hilton and Denise van Outen to debate on later this week but the shocking nature of Lacey's comeback still leaves her riding a huge 5-0 hot streak even though the quality of the opposition must very much improve in the weeks to come if the brunette is to be considered a player in the bantamweight division.

Spare a thought for the poor loser though. Abi remains completely beside herself and refuses to accept the verdict. She wants to keep fighting and claims the count lasted way too short to be valid but her complains fall on deaf ears for the time being and she exits the Grudge Sessions PPV with a second straight KO defeat on her resume. However Georgie Thompson thinks she will earn another opportunity sooner than most of BBU fans think as the Green & Gold Magazine twitter feed indicates that Downunder Boxing's Jessica Marais is very interested in coming over to teach Phillips some manners.

Final result: Lacey Turner def. Abi Phillips KO7.
