BBU VALENTINE'S DAY GRUDGE SESSIONS PPV

BEFORE: These two veterans have long promised to take each other down and Girls Friday's policy to have Kelly Reilly fight only women born in the 70s sounds like a very good idea to Kate Abdo because the proud redhead got simply pummelled senseless by Natasha Hamilton last time out which exposed some of her durability flaws in numbers. Meanwhile Jaime's last bout saw her beat up the Aussie newcomer Shelley Craft in a classic cougar duell but even Georgie Thompson openly questions that opponent choice and reminds everyone that Kym Marsh was always the intended target before her sudden retirement left Murray chasing another goal. However that Boxing Day PPV victory still gives the Hammersmith brunette a slight edge in the betting odds.
Kelly Reilly wears a green bikini set and black gloves. Long red hair straight. Jaime Murray wears a navy blue bikini set and white gloves. Black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Kelly's Girls Friday future remains in limbo so the redhead's determined to prove herself tonight and she surprises just about everyone with a massive jabbing drive that dissects the brunette's guard on the spot and snaps Jaime's head sideways. Kelly sticks her mitts straight into Jaime's mouth and reels her towards the ropes much quicker than expected and while the Londoner struggles to even land a single punch on the redhead, Reilly keeps the pressure on before switching low on the breadbasket and piercing the navel that bends Murray forward into a vicious uppercut on the jaw. Jaime scowls in pain as she bounces off the ropes and eats another flier up the middle and Reilly just runs out of time to send her down for the count, her last punch goes over the top and catches her foe with an elbow on the side of the head which earns the brunette a much needed break in the final seconds.
Round 2:
Reilly's furious approach keeps reeling Murray back after another piercing drive nails her on the mouth and shuts down in a mid distance tangle. The Hammersmith actress endures another mouthful of leather down the stretch and quickly thinks better of it; she's unable to match the intensity of her opponent for the time being and jumps back to safety forcing the redhead into a hectic pursuit that affects the precision and sheer production but allows the cumbersome brunette to bide some time in the latter half of the contest. She even swinsg back at Kelly and catches her with a wild hook on the nose but that's too little too late to make any difference anymore.
Round 3:
Girls Friday's coach Taryn Terrell urges the redhead to keep the stalking attitude going but Jaime's pretty smart for a free agent - even if that means she's giving up another chance to comeback into some actual boxing performance. Early clinch ends in Murray punching the redhead's kidneys before a piercing jab catches her on the liver and extends the stalemate. Suddenly Jaime breaks free and beats Kelly for a quick uppercut on the jaw which sends the hitherto dominant redhead on her heels but the follow up only bounces off the top of her head and allows her to escape. Murray drops the pursuit idea and methodically walks back keeping the single hand approach alive instead however she just about secures a drawn contest which is a vast improvement over the first couple of rounds already.
Round 4:
Kelly struggles in close range whenever Jaime wraps herself around the waist and coach Terrell's calls for the ref to do something about it are equally fruitless as the redhead's production througout the round. Murray literally drives her head into Reilly's chin but with the two cougars locked in a battle of supremacy there's no one stopping her from imposing a wrestling stance briefly as she lifts the redhead and dumps her on the turnbuckle before slamming a left/right combo on the chin that slumps Kelly amid a crying ache. Jaime takes a couple of steps back and blasts more cross hooking menace trapping the fellow actress for good and the relentless attack in the closing seconds bursts Reilly's lips into a swollen reality and even as she tries to unload a counter response she gets beaten for a ruthless hook on the liver and slumps on her knees with another scream and now it's the brunette's turn to add some extra punishment as she blows past the struggling guard and knocks a couple of punches into the redhead's lips even after the bell.
Round 5:
Nervous atmosphere in the Girls Friday corner as Kelly Reilly visibly fights back some pain with her lips looking badly swollen after that Murray frenzy in the previous round. And the brunette connects with teh redhead's chin seconds into the round again taking full advantage of the close range stance. Reilly drops on her heels as she soaks up the jabbing heat but she's only in real trouble when Jaime loops a hooking drive on the temples and pounds her onto the ropes for good. No clinching respite for the redhead who tries to shut the Londoner down but eats a jabbing drive on the breadbasket and bends forward into a series of uppercuts that dissect her guard and swivel the head when Murray lands her strikes on the jaw and lips again. Kelly begns to scowl in pain and covers up in a desperate earmuff yet Jaime finds the holes around her elbows and keeps hammering away until REILLY HAS TO TAKE A KNEE to catch her breath back. Disaster for the Girls Friday crew as the redhead looks very much spend here and even though she's up on her feet at eight, she fails to halt the Hammersmith charge and earns herself a nasty cut under the right eye with Murray knocking her about inside the final seconds and completing the rout with a belting hook on the navel.
Round 6:
Kelly's in real trouble now as she fails to match Jaime's stalking drive and unlike her opponent before, she can't bide her time through a tactical escape. And Jaime hits right through her with a left hook on the temple that is followed by a right hand on the boobs. Reilly gasps for air as she bends forward with another painful squeal but she leaves her feet behind and wobbles straight into a brutal uppercut that catches her on the chin AND SENDS FACE DOWN ON THE CANVAS moments later... Ugh! That's a nasty knockdown and the poor redhead can only launch herself up on all fours at seven and aches her heart out in a fruitless attempt to beat the count... She's a no-go at ten and it's KO6 Jaime Murray in come-from-behind fashion!!!
AFTER: The Hammersmith actress looked totally out of her depth after the first couple of rounds but just like Lacey Turner in the previous fight, she somehow managed to find a way to knock her opponent out! Kelly had the right mindset at the start of this one and did everything she could to take the brunette down and Kate Abdo thinks if she secured a knockdown early on, then Murray would have bellowed out into a punchbag mode. However the punching resistance remains Kelly's biggest issue and once Jaime broke her resilience through sheer ammount of strikes she was favored to put the redhead away which she eventually did.
Kelly failed to shake off her lacklustre status tonight but Georgie Thompson is willing to give her another try as she makes the cougar boxing look pretty exciting and there are still plenty of bantams born in the 70s left on active BBU roster. Meanwhile Jaime Murray is set to keep her own cougar project going and allthough Kym Marsh has now retired, she promises to dump more misery on some of these veteran TV starlets in the future. One can say both Kelly and Jaime target the same kind of opposition and who knows, perhaps this is just a start of a late blooming rivalry?
