BEFORE: Despite beating Sarah Jayne Dunn last time around the verdict is still out on Zoe Salmon who keeps chasing the pack of wolves away for almost two years now as her Lioness Club future remains in danger. The otherwise lacklustre Ulster blonde is widely regarded as the worst fighter on her stable's roster and but for Pilar Rubio being shown the door last year, she could have been axed instead already. Now with Yasmin Verheijen flexing her pageant muscles on the trial contact even the Girls Friday entourage believes if Jessica Michibata can put the former Miss Northern Ireland away tonight, that's the last time we'll see Salmon fighting out of the Lioness gym.
Jessica Michibata was the first newcomer to arrive on the revamped Girls Friday's radar - however she officially remains a free agent - and allthough the Harry Keegan-led shake up introduced several fellow lingerie models in the past week, Jenson Button's former partner has secured that breakthrough maiden win already stopping Miriam Leone back in January. She's openly mocked Salmon's presence on the Lioness Club roster ever since and has set her sights on French pageant winner Laury Thilleman already as well. This will be a very busy introduction period for the Japanese-born model but both Kate Abdo and Georgie Thompson in the booth believe that Zoe is indeed the easiest target on Jessica's path to future BBU stardom.
Zoe Salmon wears a navy blue bikini set and white gloves. Long blondee hair in loose waves. Jessica Michibata wears a black lacy corset, matching knickers and red gloves. Light brown hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Jessica dismissed Zoe's skills in the weeks leading up to the fight but she keeps it strictly business in the ring and avoids the blonde's early jabbing rush through some quick footwork before blasting a right cross on the mouth to set up a piercing drive from point blank range that immediately drops Salmon on her heels. The intensity of the model's attack matches the precision and Zoe's getting those red mitts shoved into her mitts wholesale which reels her onto the ropes and indicates this fight will be nothing like the Sarah Jayne Dunn stroll in the park. Michibata's personal coach Lauren Berlingeri leads the support from the corner and Michibata exposes all of the leaking guard as she digs deep into the pretty Irish face and whips Salmon over the top of the ropes before switching her targets and belting the aching blonde across the midsection for a good measure. Zoe gets eventually rescued by the bell but that's as terrible start as she could have ever imagined here!
Round 2:
Zoe just can't avoid the Japanese heat at all and drops into earmuff coverage seconds into the round again with Jessica blasting her way onto the cheeks and shutting the lacklustre Ulster woman down with tremendous ease. A couple of hooks catch her on the boobs but that's all Zoe's got at the moment and she gets half-spun to the ropes with a ruthless one-two combo on the temples instead. She ducks underneath a flying hook and wraps herself around Michibata's waist to bide some clinching time however the brunette bumps her off in jug-to-jug fashion and cracks the high guard thereafter with a nice uppercut on the nose. Salmon winces in pain as she bounces off the model's defence in a fruitless recovery attempt and eats another hook on the temples right at the death with Jessica shaking her glove in delight at the bell.
Round 3:
More problems for the Irish girl... she gets clobbered up the middle and eats some JMD heat before bending forward against the brunette's shoulder who rips immediate flurry of leather on the liver area and makes the former pageant scream out... Salmon wants to get out of there in a hurry but gets wrapped around by her left arm and suddenly eats a monster right uppercut on the jaw that shuts her eyes on the spot and allows Jessica to add nother looping hook on the ear...BLONDE GOES DOWN!!! That was too much for Zoe to handle as she got nailed clean with those couple of big strikes... she crumbles down on her back but at least shows enough courage to beat the slow count at seven... she barks in anger and realizes it's all going downhill for her tonight yet Michibata keeps it cool and doesn't blow the gasket just yet... any newcomer would be guilty of trying too much too early but the Japanese-born model is methodical in her pounce and literally scares the blonde away through sheer hassling mode alone, poor Zoe almost trips over her own feet as she tries to avoid the looming disaster but hangs on until the bell.
Round 4:
Lioness coach Mel B. tries to ignite some spark into the embattled Ulsterwoman but the recovery plan is quickly dashed by Michibata ripping close range shots straight into the blonde's face and freezing her out in the center of the ring. The difference in raw boxing skills is kinda terrifyng and Zoe's face gets roughed up badly come the second minute, the girl just soaking up a tone of abuse and slumping on her knees with every punch landing on her cheeks & mouth. The guard slowly collapses in the proccess as well but Jessica only secures the intended goal when she switches targets and rips into the exposed liver area TO SEND SALMON CRASHING DOWN ON HER KNEES on the spot. The hapless blonde bends her head against the canvas and groans all the pain she can find inside her... some fans thinks she's done for the night but another slow count actually enables her to stand up on her feet at nine... she looks quite shaken up regardless but that's no problem for the ref and the Girls Friday entourage either... Michibata closes right in on her and delivers a brutal hook to the jaw that Zoe literally didn't even see coming... she screams out her loudest but that's her last cry of the fight as the lingerie model blasts another hook on the ear AND JACK-KNIFES THE ULSTER GIRL into the point of no return. Ref only glances over the spread eagle fallen Zoe and waves it off without starting another count. Epic KO4 Jessica Michibata!!!
AFTER: No upset and no come-from-behind result in this one; everyone predicted Jessica blowing Zoe's doors off and that's exactly what happened! Coach Lauren Berlingeri was effectively silent after that first round which set the tone for the rest of the bout and she can be truly proud of her protegee who threatens to steal some glamour coverage away from the recent Girls Friday signings like Sara Sampaio and Alessandra Ambrosio. And what's more important, she can fully expect to enter the Laury Thilleman contest on a contender status. Georgie Thompson suggests that the official contract with Jessica will be signed even before that.
Meanwhile Zoe Salmon's been smoked out cold and Mel B. can only drag whatever's left from the blonde's flesh into the Lioness corner and revive her in a frantic effort to avoid a trip to the nearby hospital. Kate Abdo begins to wonder why on Earth is Zoe still on the Barnet payroll but most of the audience believes this is the last we've seen of her anyway and she'll be released pending Yasmin Verheijen's official introduction to North London. It's one thing to keep going with Barnet-born Emma Bunton but something completely different to hope for a miracle turnaround of Zoe's career. This will simply never happen and she can join the long list of outright journeywomen. Perhaps even some of the recent Girls Friday newcomers will now roll over her to follow suit on Michibata's vicious KO success!
Final result: Jessica Michibata def. Zoe Salmon KO4.
