DAKOTA FANNING VS MIRANDA COSGROVE

BEFORE: Dakota Fanning arrived on the FCBA scene by blasting out Nicole Gale Anderson last month and she plans to repeat that impressive performance against the otherwise lacklustre Miranda Cosgrove. The former 'iCarly' lead cast has struggled to make an impact in the boxing universe which is especially painful when you consider her former sidekick Jennette McCurdy has emerged as the top contender to Michelle Keegan's JMD title this very month and many pundits claimed Cosgrove actually got the better of McCurdy is several catfights and wrestling matches during the show's original run. So if McCurdy can defy the odds, Cosgrove's lack or results is slightly puzzling at the very least. If she fails to beat the petite blonde tonight, she's gonna earn herself a naughty "go-to-girl" ticket and probably replace JoJo Levesque as the most desired flyweight punchbag around the league.

Round 1:
Miranda channels her feisty approach early on but struggles to make an impression on the blonde's high guard and gets countered over the top as Dakota begins to unload her aggression which proves superior down the stretch. She lands crisp punches into the brunette's face and reels Cosgrove back but jumps into her path with more powerful strikes to dissect the guard and clip the jaw a couple of times to wobble her opponent into the ropes come the final minute. She switches low on the midsection to keep Miranda on the back foot and shoves her against the turnbuckle in the dying seconds however she fails to land that big punch to really rattle the older girl off her stance.

Round 2:
Dakota seeks another meaningful series but gets blocked off upstairs and Miranda spikes her liver with a nasty hook that immediately reels the blonde into aching spasms and paves the way for a flurry of punches that stack up against her face. Cosgrove moves on the front leg and buries her foe under a hectic barrage that leaves bruises on both cheeks and that's the most powerful drive Fanning had to soak up in her short career to date; she's unable to break the brunette's efforts down whatsoever and gets pummelled back to the ropes with Cosgrove getting a little vocal while landing all those strikes into the blonde's face. Dakota bellows out into a desperate earmuff in the corner but mounts zero response to avoid a pilar-to-post beating in this round.

Round 3:
Miranda's visibly animated after that impressive showing however she just lacks the big punch to dump the blonde into immediate check out mode. She manages to outwork Dakota in close range again and lands more leather up the middle to root a cumbersome opponent to the spot but it looks like Fanning's lack of response helps the brunette out as much as her own pouncing assault. Still, that's more than enough to shut the blonde off for the second consecutive round and it's gonna be interesting to see how Dakota responds when she finally reboots her offence because she ends this contest trapped butt-in-ropes showing signs of vulnerable defence in numbers as Cosgrove even makes her wince when punishing the guts late on.

Round 4:
All Cosgrove again and perhaps that maiden FCBA win is just around the corner now; the 'iCarly' lead cast jumps into a hectic jabbing assault that picks the blonde off into more facial bruises and bends her into another dramatic earmuff while the response is just as putrid as it was in the two previous rounds. She barely grazes Miranda's flesh while getting stacked up towards the corner and finally a belting hook on the liver area enables the brunette to enjoy the wounded prey scenario. Dakota gets whooped repeatedly and leans over the ropes with panicked look in her eyes which only fuels Miranda's drive as she pierces the navel and leaves the blonde gasping for air at the bell and spitting out her mouthguard. Miranda shakes her glove in delight and the crowd reckons she's got Fanning right where she wants her now!

Round 5:
Miranda targets the knockout success from the bell and squares up to the aching blonde seconds into the round... BUT SHE GETS CAUGHT with a riffle hook on the ear and wobbles forward into Dakota's shoulder amid a painful shriek... the blonde bumps her off and suddenly rips a series of jabs on the breasts before catching the brunette on the chin with a nasty uppercut... and Cosgrove goes all shimmy shake thereafter just barely avoiding the collapse as she wraps her arms around the ropes in order to stay upright... Fanning leaps with a scowling menace at her stirred foe and blasts a left/right combo on the eyes slumping Miranda's chin between her shoulders and proceeds to whoop her along the ropes... she snaps the black hair around the aching girl's neck and signs off a massive comeback with a brutal hook on the jaw that shuts Cosgrove's eyes right at the bell and now it's the brunette in all sorts of bother as she threatens to fumble her golden chance for victory!

Round 6:
Cosrgove's clearly rattled by that Fanning comeback in the previous round and gets stranded in the center of the ring with another vicious leather rush that enables the blonde to land an uppercut series on the chin that just slumps the gloves to the side and leave Miranda all ready for the ineviteable demise... AND DAKOTA BLASTS HER ACROSS THE LIPS to half-spin the aching brunette to the side before a piercing hook on the jugs WHIPS COSGROVE FLAT ON HER BACK moments later... and the poor girl is crippled as the count passes her by... she remains motionless on her right side with eyes closed... KO6 Dakota Fanning in come-from-behind fashion!!!

AFTER: This was a much tougher fight for Fanning than her Anderson debut last month and she was almost mauled into a TKO stoppage after four rounds before a single punch literally turned the things around. The blonde is first to admit she underestimated the brunette and should have been more aggressive early on tonight but there are some holes in her defence that Cosgrove dangerously exposed and if a winless opponent can do that, it's a case for major concern in terms of her career prospects. Nonetherless Miranda's punching resistance proved to be even worse - which follows a familiar pattern - and Dakota was capable of finishing her off in style. And she still wants to have a piece of Pretty Little Punchers' Danielle Campbell next!
