Anna Kendrick vs Julianne Hough

Before: Julianne Hough not finding the ring in 2015. Fans worried if she was dealing with the effects of losing her championship belt AND her Alpha status at Empire after her KO loss at the hands of Sienna Miller. Julianne dismisses it out of hand. “That’s not a factor for me at all. Being successful means your calendar fills up. Dancing with the Stars AND Grease Live? Both pretty big shows. And both have required me to stay in peak physical condition.” To further make her point, Hough places her foot up on the table and hikes up her skirt, showing off her flawless stems and lithe muscle tone. She places her foot back on the floor with a satisfied smile. The murmurs in the room prove that she has made her point.

Anna Kendrick’s eyes practically pop out of her head as she sees her opponent’s legs for the first time. “Holy smokes! That’s… She’s… Are those her REAL legs...Geez, those are perfect! Thank goodness we aren’t having a dance off! As it is, we are having a BOXING match, an activity I’ve been practicing much more than her. It’s just a matter of priorities. My fight career is my number one priority for me. That’s why I’ve watched all the fight tape on Julianne, brought in girls to spar like Julianne, and I have a fight plan that will beat Julianne. Make no mistake, Hough looks great in that ring. She’s been a flyweight champion and she could get back there again. But right now, I want this more than her. That’s why she’ll be on her back at the end of the night.”

Out of respect for the former champ, Anna enters the ring first. She’s upbeat tonight during her entrance, waving to the fans while bouncing to the ring in her light blue robe. Anna takes the blue corner still blowing kisses to the crowd. Her robe is removed, revealing a tight blue two piece. Functional and form fitting. After making Kendrick wait for a minute, Julianne Hough comes down the tunnel. She’s all smiles as she points one red glove at the ring as the flashbulbs pop. Hough’s skirt hits just at her hips to better show off her legs. Julianne slips through the ropes and throws off her robe. Tonight’s she’s wrapped a bright red bikini with white accents. It’s high cut on her hips for obvious reasons.

The girls meet at mid-ring. It’s cordial enough during the ref instructions. But the touch of gloves brings two girls slamming their fists together. Microphones pick up the sound as it echoes through the arena. Kendrick knows this top-20 opponent is one of the best she’s faced so far. While Hough sees tonight as the first step on a path to reclaim her championship belt. The girls stare each other down from their corners while the ring is cleared.

Round 1: Both girls light on their feet as they close in. Julianne offers her glove for another show of sportsmanship and Anna tepidly gives it a tap. The ladies begin circling clockwise. Each throwing snappy jabs that fall just short or get caught by stalwart defences. Hough content to dance at range, but Kendrick knows she has to punch. Anna comes in with guns blazing! She’s throwing heavy blows as she leaps forward… and buzzes Hough’s chin! Julianne’s head slams to the side as that punch connects! She’s rocked back on her heels as Anna closes in! Julianne scurries behind a tight earmuff, and Anna helps herself to all that toned tummy. Kendrick deposits clean leather to flanks and body. Hough forced to take the punishment while she tries to clear her head. The ref dives in at the bell. Kendrick all smiles as she trots away with the points.

Round 2: Hough comes out uptempo after the rest period. She’s back to cruising on those dancer legs. Intense hit and run tactics from Julianne. She’s cruising high and proud, flirting just out of range then striking lightning fast. Her gloves keep touching up Anna to cheek, chin or chest. Kendrick starting to frown. She’s puffing up a bit as Julianne keeps controlling the distance and tempo. Each time Anna goes to counter, Hough has already slipped away. Frustration starts to set in for the smaller brunette. And near the end of the round, it boils over as Kendrick charges at Hough! Her arms windmill as Anna throws big punches from all angles! Each punch a mix of desperation, hope and hate! Most of the assault gets blocked… but a hard right hand buries into Julianne’s ribs! Julianne winces as that shot lands, but she loads up her response, a tidy uppercut to the chin that crunches home to Anna’s jaw! The bell rings before anymore damage can be registered. Both girls’ chests heaving as they return to their corners.

Round 3: Julianne getting her ribs iced down in her corner. Anna with the same attention on her cheeks. Both corners trying to switch up the game plan, fighters listening intently through the break. At the bell, Kendrick shoots out of her corner like a heat seeking missile! She’s learned Julianne will pick her apart unless she pushes the action. Anna tries to trap Hough in her own corner, but Julianne is too slick! She ducks under Anna’s thunderbolts and slides along the ropes, burying two sharp hooks to Anna’s tummy as she escapes. Kendrick takes a moment to collect herself before chasing again. More of the same along the ropes. Anna goes to the body this time, but Julianne catches the punch on her elbow and fires back two quick shots that bounce Anna’s chest! Hough escapes again as Anna takes a moment to lick her wounds. But the third time is a charm for Kendrick! She closes down space quickly, slamming her body into Julianne’s and trapping them in the neutral corner. From here, it’s tight, twisty two way slugging. Anna’s trying to scrub up that torso, while still coming over the top to plant heavy hooks on Hough’s cheeks. Julianne focuses her attack low, forcing piston-like lefts and rights into Anna’s breadbasket. At the bell, Kendrick’s body is pinking up from the abuse, but Hough’s cheeks are puffy, with a small cut above her left eye.

Round 4: Anna is a little slow off her stool. The body punching has certainly been felt by the brunette. Julianne takes position at center ring, waiting for Kendrick to close before she decides which direction to fly away. Anna keeps ducking and dodging her head as she closes down space. That Hough jab is consistently and solidly in her face. Anna takes a few stinging shots to her mug, but she is undeterred. She HAS to get past that jab to have any chance of hurting the dancer. Kendrick forced to eat a steady diet of Hough’s jab. But while Julianne is snapping out her next punch, Anna steps back. The subtle move forces Hough to reach just enough. Julianne’s weight shifts forward, rocking her off balance. Anna steps under the blow, hooking a heavy left hand to the blonde’s chin! That punch explodes on target, sending shockwaves through Hough and locking up her legs as she totters back and splashes down on the canvas!! Anna raises her gloves to the crowd and thumps her chest as she stomps to the neutral corner. Julianne’s trying to shake off the damage, rolling to her side at four, onto a knee… and she uses the ropes to beat the count! Ref checks her over thoroughly but declares her ready for action. Kendrick shrugs as she closes in again. Anna shows great restraint here, applying good pressure to hammer home sharp, thudding blows on Julianna. But Kendrick has not abandoned her defense, nor does she go for broke. That restraint allows her to pile on the damage. Hough is forced to hang on for dear life as she’s saved by the bell.

Round 5: It’s laser focus from the brunette fighter on the Diamond stool. Anna wants this knockout so bad she can taste it. Kendrick knows she has Hough hurt. It’s just a matter of forceful, thoughtful pressure. She knows this could be her moment. Now it’s Julianne up achingly slow to meet her. Rubbery legs still showing the after effects of that detonation her jaw suffered in the last round. Without those strong stems, Julianne is reduced to plodding around the ring. Her jab is now defensive, pawing, pleading. Kendrick can smell it. She closes in behind a high guard. Anna is hammering out that left fist, trying to break through Julianne’s shell. She’s trying to end it with one punch to the chin! Kendrick is trying to bang down the door through sheer force! Her lips snarled, jugs a jumpin’ as she hurls shot after shot at the blonde! Hough is getting knocked all around the ring, stumbling this way and that as she tries to cope with the hurricane bearing down on her! Finally, Anna inverts the formula, tucking strong meaty hooks to that appetizing dancer torso. As those punches thud home, it presents the opening. Hough’s face is a mask of pain as she deals with the tummy hurt. It weakens her guard just enough for Kendrick to tuck in a series of tidy uppercuts! They explode in rapid succession on the blonde’s jaw, jerking her head up to the sky with each punch! The final blow lands clean, locking up Hough and sending her crashing down to the mat! She’s laid out flat, gloves outstretched, eyes clamped tight as she’s out! The count is a formality and IT’S OVER! Your winner by KO5, ANNA KENDRICK!!

After: Anna Kendrick bellowing to the rafters with her gloves raised to the sky. A mix of shock, relief, and excitement play out across her face as she blows kisses to her fans. She knows how big it was tonight. You can see the confidence of this moment filling her almost to the brim. If she can compete with… no, defeat a former champion like Hough… then there’s no limit...

The Diamond trainers get a hold of Anna and bring her into the corner. She’s tearing up again, and the trainers ask if she’s hurt. Kendrick replies “No… I just never dreamed I’d be here…”

Meanwhile, Julianne has been scrapped off the mat and is safely in her corner. Ice packs on her neck try to get her body back in working order. Hough sits slumped over, dejected. She had the right plan, could have gone all night sticking and moving. She was just… caught. A few punches right on the button had been all it took. Currently, she was surrounded by her trainers. A sea of concerned looks and cautious eyes. Slowly they parted, as Anna Kendrick waded into Hough’s corner. Anna was still wearing those blue boxing gloves, and Julianne winced as those gloves gently touched her face. Kendrick came in close and looked her right in the eye. “You are a great boxer, Hough. Strong, quick and tough. You made me better tonight. And you’ll be back at the top someday.”

The officials clear out the non-essentials and bring the girls to center ring. The announcement is made. The flashbulbs pop. Julianne shuffles off to the locker room, eager for another taste of the ring on another night. Anna stays to soak up the moment, wishing she could kiss every fan who supported her. Finally, a microphone is in front of the winner.

“All the credit to Julianne Hough… She’s a great boxer and she gave me a real tough fight tonight.” The crowd shows their appreciation for the blonde fighter. “This was a really big win for me. And it feels like I have some momentum now. That means I’m going to keep fighting against some of the best boxers in the world. It’s going to be the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced, but nights like tonight make me believe I can do it. I want to thank you guys for supporting me. Last year, at this time, I had one win to my name. And for some reason, Diamond believed in me. They gave me this contract, And for some reason, the fans started cheering for me. I want you to know that I hear you guys when I’m in the ring. And it makes me fight harder. It makes me want to give you everything I have. I promise to keep doing that every time I strap on my boxing gloves!”
