Joanne Kelly versus Missy Peregrym

Pre Fight: Usually a fourth fight would be for one of the fighters to have the opportunity to tie the series, but Joanne has a clean sweep in the first three fights. Missy can’t let it stand, she’s one of the best Light Weights in the history of the FCBA and the thought of being handled by the same woman without defeating her in return. Joanne can’t pass up a shot and defeating a top flight fighter, even if she has beaten her three times before, Missy’s victories against other top 10 light weights just help Joanne’s cause every time she defeats the tenacious brunette.

ROUND 1: The start is a slow one, Joanne trying to work behind the jab, but Missy lays back studying and planning. The first minute passes without a major engagement, Peregrym keeps the ring open moving firing her own jab to keep Kelly off her. Joanne scores a few strikes from distance, but can’t close the distance to follow up. The round ends after the slightly slow action, but Kelly takes the round close.

ROUND 2: The beginning of the second round is much quicker to action. Missy charges out of her corner nearly running. Joanne’s jab barely slows the other brunette as Peregrym gets inside and stays there. Missy works against Joanne’s stomach and flanks with short stocky punches, she tracks Kelly keeping her from gaining distance. Joanne works back with similar hammer and tongs punching, but Missy more skilled at the style out works the other brunette and takes the round.
 
ROUND 3: Before the third both corners give frenzied advice, Missy’s corner urging her continue the work she started. Joanne’s corner going over the game plan that defeated Peregrym before, Kelly just nods. Again Missy chargers at the bell, but she runs right into a jab, Joanne reestablishing terms with the right jab to Missy’s face. Joanne stops several attempts to bring the fight back to close quarters. Joanne starts getting off more than the controlling jab, hitting Missy two, three, four times with each attempt to close. Missy stops trying to get in close, and is now on the running, Joanne stalking her. Late Kelly works Peregrym against the ropes the crowd cheers as Joanne throwing rapid fire punches trying to end things. PEREGRYM TAKES A KNEE! Kelly backs away, as Missy looks up picking up the referee’s count and stands at six. Missy is able to stay back the final few seconds of the round.

ROUND 4: Missy insists she’s fine, Joanne gets encouragement to continue her work. Peregrym comes out of the corner fast just as before, this time she ducks the jabs and makes it inside rocking Kelly with an uppercut. Joanne’s legs go wobbly, Missy pushes the other brunette to the ropes and sets up shop. Missy banging away at Joanne’s torso, Kelly tries covering up with her backs to the ropes. Missy pours in, another uppercut snaps Joanne’s head back and a straight right to the solar plexus drops Kelly. The referee steps in, Missy bounces back to a neutral corner as Joanne reaches out putting gloved hand on the middle rope. Joanne gets back up, the referee checks the brunette, and allows her to continue. Missy comes back in, but the bell sounds before she can catch the back pedaling Kelly.

ROUND 5: Joanne’s head clears on the stool, she again nods. Missy’s corner is more fired up urging her to finish things. Missy comes back out of the corner rushing across the ring, Joanne stops the first rush with the jab. Peregrym doesn’t give up and makes it through and bangs away at the body again. Joanne works out of the close quarters and returns to the jab keeping Peregrym at distance, and following up behind it. The round goes on with the clashing styles, each woman having her way for moments before the other renegotiates and takes control. Entering the final minute Missy breaks through again and claps an uppercut to Joanne’s jaw, the brunette staggering backwards. Missy comes on right, left combo snapping Kelly’s head side to side, the taller woman’s knees lock and she pitches forward face first on to the canvas. Missy puts her arms up as she walks to one of the neutral corners. The referee reaches his count before Joanne even gets to her hands and knees. Missy leaps in the air WINNER MISSY KO5.
 
AFTER: Missy goes to her corner the celebrations is subdued, one win doesn’t remove three loses. Joanne is helped to her stool, but the brunette pushes past the helpful hands to join Missy and the referee in the center of the ring so Missy can have her arm raised. After the official announcement Kelly walks over and gives Missy a hug, the brunette trading respect before Missy gets the ring to herself for a moment of cheers and celebration!
