LEAP DAY 2016 AT THE ASYLUM

BEFORE:

"2011," says Christina with a shake of the head. "That's when I was here in Philly last. One of the first Asylum cards. And, it was also the last year I had an FCBA fight. Ridiculous! A girl with my talent! Well, tonight, I'm going to show everybody what they've been missing since December, 2011!"

"Obviously, I know what I need to do," says Leven with a nod. "I didn't have the best year last year, and, in fact, I've had an up and down 18 months. That needs to change, and it's going to. And it starts with me starching Christina tonight."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Dip It Low' by the lovely young lady on her way to the ring, Christina Milian..."

McCarthy: "And, as she pointed out in the pre-fight, Christina was here for one of the very first Asylums, back in the GOOD OLD days, when the announce crew was just the two Hall of Famers, Jenny O'Dell and J-Mac."

Tess: "Don't DO it, BFF..."

Cassie: "Who, little old me?"

McCarthy: "What ARE you two babbling about?"

Cassie: "The fact that, between you and Jenny O'Dell, one is a Hall of Famer and the OTHER one is YOU..."

McCarthy: "And that is a TRAGEDY OF JUSTICE! I'm being UNFAIRLY denied my PROPER place in the Hall of Fame by those jealous of my talent, brains, and beauty!"

Cassie: "You know, Tess, it's almost like an old rerun of 'I Love Lucy' around here, except, instead of 'Ricky, why can't I be in the show', it's 'Tess, why can't I be in the Hall of Fame..."

McCarthy: "I'll SUE! I'll SUE! Siri, call my lawyer!"

Tess (sighing): "Really, BFF? Really?"

Cassie: "Livening things up around here is part of my job description."

O'Dell: "And part of MINE is actually attempting to get fights broadcast. So, if we can keep our focus on the RING, we'll see that Christina has entered and been helped off with the robe to reveal a red and white striped bikini and a body that makes it clear she's been working out hard for this one. And, that's 'Stray Heart' by Green Day you hear, and that can only mean that 'The Houston Solution', Leven Rambin is coming down the aisle..."

McCarthy: "What she's about to be the 'solution' to is overcrowding in the Front Street locker room, because if she loses tonight, she's going to be on the first train out of town."

Cassie: "While I have gone on record many times as saying it's never a good idea to agree with Mac..."

McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."

Cassie: "I DO think this is an important fight for Leven. She's lost five of her last seven, and, while losses to Kendra Wilkinson, Elodie Frege, and my two stablemates, Tracy Spiridakos and Shailene Woodley are nothing to be ashamed of, Leven's at the bottom of Front Street's bantam pecking order, and she needs to get the ship righted."

O'Dell: "Leven into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that bubblegum pink number she prefers, and we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess favors Leven. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Tonight's the night Rambin shuffles off to Buffalo. Milian."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess.

O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Christina working out of a half crouch, hands high, bobbing and weaving, working forward, ants to close the range here, which she'll need to do against Leven, who has a lot of reach on her. Rambin jabbing, looking to line Christina up, but Milian having success moving past the glove."

Cassie: "Christina athletic and moves very well, and you're seeing some of that now."

O'Dell: "Milian hooking some body when she gets inside. Leven responding in kind, has a tougher assignment, though, because there's a lot less body to aim at, especially with the brunette still in that half crouch. Milian doing an excellent job with the head and the hands, making it hard for Rambin to find her upstairs."

McCarthy: "Rambin needs to just tie up in there, force breaks. She doesn't want to fight inside, not with all that reach she has."

O'Dell: "Thirty seconds to go in the first. Rambin giving a little ground, getting the left on to enforce that distance, but Milian back inside quickly, again wants to work blonde body. Rambin a good short right hook, but Milian digging to the ribs as the final seconds tick away. There's the bell. First close to Christina."

Tess: "Good start for Milian, who's up 10-9"

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with the same dynamic, Rambin wanting to work at range, use that long left jab, Milian working forward in that half crouch. She's changing levels, moving the feet, hands and head, working hard to get past the blonde's defenses, get inside where she can work body."

McCarthy: "I'm impressed with Milian so far. She not only moves well, she's got some power. You can HEAR those punches banging into Rambin's body."

O'Dell: "And, if you can hear 'em, Leven's feeling 'em. But, Rambin firing back hard in there, working some ribs of her own, landing a hook to the side of the head. Girls fall into a clinch and the referee breaks them. Milian again forward and DOWN SHE GOES! Oh a CRUSHING right hand from Rambin drops Milian face first at her feet!"

Cassie (singing) "Turn out the liiiggghhhhttttsss. The party's ovvveeerrrrrrrrrr..."

O'Dell: "Rambin to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. No movement from Milian who's still face down on the canvas. Eight. Nine. Ten. It's OVER! That quickly it is OVER, and your winner by KO2 in absolutely DEVASTATING one-punch fashion is 'The Houston Solution', Leven Rambin!"

Tess: "Let's check this punch on the replay. Here's the break. Now, watch Milian begin to work forward and POW! Rambin just lands a perfect right between the gloves. Christina's head snaps back and she crumples to the canvas, out before she hits the mat."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore."

Tess: "I have our winner, Leven Rambin, and, Leven, wow. That was some finish!"

Leven (smiling): "Well, I needed to get one tonight, and I came in here to get one. This girl is sturdy, she can pound body and win rounds. I wasn't trying to get into that with her. It was about getting her out of there at the first opportunity. Done!"

Tess: "As you said, big win for you..."

Leven (nodding): "Absolutely. This has been a rough ride lately, and it's time I get back on track. Tonight was a big step toward doing that. And, I can't wait to get back in the ring to get the Rambin Express rolling."
