BEFORE:

"I guess she has a problem with me," says Shelley with a gorgeous smile. "She's going to have a bigger problem with me once we get in the ring."

"I don't have a problem with HER," says a hard-eyed Anna. "I have a problem with the way she ACTED, taking advantage of a kid in her first fight. Well. I'm no kid. As she's about to find out."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that is 'Gentle On My Mind' by The Band Perry, and, on her way to the ring is the star of that video, the lovely Shelley Hennig."

Tess: "And, look at THIS, Mac. Shelley not only has an FCBA win, she has THREE of them!"

McCarthy: "And they all came against fighters who HAD exactly zero wins!"

Cassie: "Did you actually do some RESEARCH, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Yes, actually. I looked up the...SHUT UP, SCABBO!"

O'Dell (sighing): "Shelley into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a burnt orange number that looks like she's from the state of Texas and not Louisiana, and, that's 'The Pain and the Passion' by Midnight Oil and here comes 'The Aussie Enforcer', Anna Torv!"

McCarthy: "One of Weirdo's two REAL fighters. And, the one thing I've EVER agreed with him about is that SHE should have gotten that title shot against Yustman instead of that overrated DECKER and her INSURFABLE EGO!"

Tess: "What does, 'Insurfable' mean, Mac?"

McCarthy: "It means that it's so big you can't SURF it, like a huge wave! Don't you know ANYthing, Walmart?"

O'Dell: "And, if you had 'Mac makes up a word and then defines it', mark your square. Meanwhile, Anna tapping glove to fist with Mac on her way to the ring, climbs in, helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Anna. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Again, Torv's a real fighter and Hennig isn't anything special. Anna."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess."

O'Dell: "It's unanimous. Let's find out if our ladies are right. Two rangy beauties involved in this one, and, no surprise, they're working at range early, both using the jab, popping out the left hand, locating, probing the defenses for weaknesses. Brunette trying to get some right hands on, but not having much success..."

McCarthy: "Torv is an excellent defensive fighter. She plays angles extremely well, manages distance extremely well and is excellent at blocking and slipping punches."

O'Dell: "Anna all about the left in this round. Not worried about the right hand at all. She's just range-finding with the jab. Hennig giving a little ground now, trying to get the geometry right but not doing it. Instead it's Torv enforcing distance, now dropping in a right hand. Henning firing back in counter, finally lands a good right hand."

Cassie: "Good stuff from both fighters right now. Shelley boxing with Torv and hanging in there, in the short term at least."

O'Dell: "She's certainly not getting blown out of here as we head to the final 30 seconds. Ladies continuing to feel out. Shelley again missing a right and Anna feeds her a solid counter. Shelley again giving a little ground. Anna stepping forward behind the left, hooks body with the right. Five seconds left and bell. Competitive round to Torv."

Tess: "Who leads it 10-9 early."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with Shelley wanting to close and get physical. Hennig working forward, banging body. Torv responding in kind and we've quickly gone from the ranged boxing of the last round to the sort of toe-to-toe stuff we saw in the last bout with Pink and Sam Cooke, but at even closer range..."

McCarthy: "Not surprised Hennig wants to do this. She's not going to outbox Torv. But, she's not going to out slug her, either."

O'Dell: "The brunette going to make the effort, however, as she's digging and mugging inside. Lots of tying up and wrestling going on. Torv using the shoulder to elevate the brunette, create some space for some body shots. Shelley tying up Anna's head and thumping her ribs with the free hand..."

Tess: "Anna definitely having the better of things in there, Jenny."

O'Dell: "No question about it but DOWN GOES TORV!"

McCarthy: "That's a slip! Henning had her tied up and threw her down! Why is the referee counting?"

O'Dell: "Anna not happy about this. Right back to her feet at three. Pleading her case here, but the ref not having it. He's giving her the mandatory and now waiving Shelley forward. Henning now wants to work at range, jabbing at Torv. Anna not happy at all, wants to close and get some leather on in response. Ten seconds to go in this one. Hennig backing and circling. Torv working to close. And, there's the bell. 10-8 round for Shelley."

Cassie: "And, slip or not, the referee's ruled that a knockdown, which means Henning now leads 19-18 on the cards."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "The blonde is not at all amused as we begin the third round. Torv on a mission here, coming after Hennig in a big way. Shelley giving ground, backing and circling while popping that left jab. Torv wants to cut and close, but Henning showing great feet here. She's maintaining distance, dropping in right hands behind those lefts."

McCarthy: "Anna not being sloppy, but she's playing into Henning's hands right now. She needs to get back to boxing."

O'Dell: "But, that doesn't seem to be the game plan. Torv clearly not happy with Hennig coming in here, and after the last round, she's even less so. She wants to thump the brunette, and Shelley using that to her advantage right now. Torv able to close at times and thump some heavy shot home, but Hennig keeping those exchanges short via the tie up."

Cassie: "And, she really is moving very well. She's a former beauty queen, so she has that pageant jab and circle down very well."

O'Dell: "And it's serving her very well right now. She's controlling this round despite the best efforts of the blonde. Torv a bit to aggressive for her own good as we roll into the final seconds. Hennig jabbing, circling, legging away from Anna at every opportunity, forcing Torv to close ground. Five seconds left. Good left from Shelley and there's the bell. Henning, and, frankly, pretty wide."

Tess: "29-27 Henning. And her corner's plenty happy."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Anna right back to the chase, and that's pretty much what it's become. Henning all about movement. She continues to circle right behind her jab, right, away from Anna's power. Torv trying to step to, get leather on. She can at times, but, she's having a lot of points scored on her as she works forward."

McCarthy: "Anna just needs to set up in the center and make this girl come to her. I know she wants to take her out of there, but she needs to get away from this."

O'Dell: "It's certainly not doing her any favors at the moment. Shelley in rhythm, moving smoothly via the backward circle, maintaining distance with the left hand, dictating terms at this point, although not really. It's more that Torv is agreeing to them, and they just happen to be the terms that Shelley wants to fight on."

Cassie: "Let's give Hennig some credit here, too. She's not only fighting smart, she's fighting well. She's got something that's working, and she's using it to win rounds."

O'Dell: "And, she's definitely winning this one. She's built a solid lead into the final 30 seconds. Torv not exactly looking frustrated, but looking a bit perturbed at least. She's again able to score with some solid stuff when she can bring Hennig to battle, but that's not happening often enough. Instead, it's Shelley circling and jabbing her way to another wide round victory."

Tess: "39-36 and Hennig is, quite surprisingly, in control of this fight."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "We begin the fifth with Torv seemingly taking a breath here. Shelley still backing and circling. Anna still pursuing, but not so much chasing as stalking now. Torv showing less aggression and more retrospection. Hennig, though, still hard to pin down because of the geometry being created by the long jab and the active feet."

McCarthy: "Torv will solve this puzzle now that she's trying to solve it and not just knock Hennig's block off."

O'Dell: "Might be right, Mac. Anna getting more done this round than she has since the first, but the brunette still having great success with these tactics. She's still getting enough jabs on as Anna closes to offset what Torv does once she squares her up and gets the leather home. And, she's keeping the exchanges as short as possible via the tie up."

Cassie: "Torv starting to dig some body in there. That's one way to neutralize the legs. Takes time, though."

O'Dell: "And, it may be time Anna doesn't have. Torv already down three points here and we're just 30 seconds from the mid-point of the fight. Shelley giving more ground now as we approach the bell. She's feeling that she has the lead in this round as well, and she's planning to pocket it. Ten seconds left. Hennig legging now. Torv in pursuit. There's the bell. Shelley. Closer. But, Shelley."

Tess: "49-45 now for Henning, who might be the only person in the arena not surprised at that score."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Second half of the fight begins with Anna stepping to and working body. She's cutting the ring better and more quickly now, moving forward in a slight crouch with a high guard, moving the feet, bringing Shelley to battle, and, when she does, concentrating downstairs. She's tenderizing every piece of meat she can find with thumping shot."

McCarthy: "Good strategy for two reasons. Like Scabbo said last round, you can neutralize legs this way. But, it also allows you to keep flurries going by punching free when the other girl tries to tie up."

O'Dell: "Hennig, though, still working the clutch and grab to put an end to Anna's close in work. The Aussie, though, not wasting any time cutting the ring down and bringing the brunette right back to battle, and, again, the work is almost completely to the body. Henning frowning now, and I don't blame her, because we can hear those shots landing pretty clearly."

Tess: "And, if we can HEAR them, Shelley can certainly FEEL them."

O'Dell: "But, give Shelley credit, she's hanging in there tough, banging back and then tying up as quickly as she can to force breaks and get Anna back to range. Torv, though, does appear to be solving this puzzle just as Mac predicted. She's out-fighting Henning in this round and neutralizing tactics that have been winning the brunette round after round. There's the bell, and it's close again, but Anna this time."

Cassie: "58-55. Hennig still with a solid edge."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Seventh begins with a bit more pressure from Torv. Nothing like what was going on in the earlier rounds, but she's pressing just a bit harder on the gas. Still doing a good job of limiting damage as she cuts and closes, and then going to work on that body, which is pinking up nicely..."

McCarthy: "That's like a red cape to a bull when a fighter working body sees that. All that nice pink, and you know the effort's paying off."

O'Dell: "Hennig still game. Banging back in there, tying up and trying to force breaks. Anna punching free several times before Shelley can keep her immobile long enough to create the break, and Torv giving Hennig very little respite once that happens. She's quickly getting to her spots and forcing battle now."

Tess: "I think you can consider the puzzle solved. But, again, credit to Shelley, who's still hanging in tough."

Cassie: "I've been impressed by Hennig all night. She's shown some things before, but she's in there against a top flight light, and she doesn't appear to be out of her league."

O'Dell: "She does not, though, as Tess pointed out, Anna now seems to be grabbing control of the fight. The blonde getting rolling now, a combination of figuring out the geometry and, to a point, slowing Shelley down with this body attack. Ten seconds to go in the seventh. Torv thumps a couple of more to the ribs and there's the bell. Anna's round."

Tess: "67-65, Shelley with three to go."

ROUND EIGHT:

O'Dell: "Eighth round and Torv upping the pressure even more. She's wearing Hennig out with this body work, ladies."

Cassie: "No question about it, Jenny O. Hennig mouth breathing now, groaning with every shot Anna lands."

O'Dell: "And she's landing plenty of them. Despite her best efforts, Shelley can't maintain distance anymore. She's not getting the jab on. The legs aren't working as well as they did, and, even if they were, it wouldn't make a difference. Torv's cutting the ring at will and dealing out the punishment."

McCarthy: "This kid's learning the hard way why Torv's a championship caliber fighter. She can beat you a lot of ways. And, in this case, she's doing it by LITERALLY beating on this kid."

O'Dell: "And, in a clinically effective way. Anna's backing Shelley up now. She's into her legs in a big way with all this body work. Hennig backing, jabbing, getting some space and DOWN SHE GOES! Torv drops her with a straight right hand and Hennig spills to her back! Anna to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Hennig staring up at the referee. Six. Gasping in huge gulps of air. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's over! Hennig can't get off her back and your winner by KO8 is 'The Aussie Enforcer', Anna Torv!"

Tess: "That was impressive stuff, Jenny. In the space of three rounds, Torv just used this girl up and finished her."

O'Dell: "Hennig helped to her stool and Torv over there. There's some bad blood here...and words being exchanged...but we're going to get a tap of gloves and Anna ruffling Shelley's hair with her right glove before turning away with a smile."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Anna Torv, and, Anna, looked like you were having some problems early."

Anna: "Well, you know I have a reputation for staying cool in the ring and all that, and tonight she got under my skin a little. I got too aggressive, and she took advantage. Give her credit. She's a good fighter and she's smart. But, I just realized I had to settle down and be smart myself in there. Once I did that, everything changed."

Tess: "It's no secret you were upset with what she did to Steinfeld after their fight. When you went over to Shelley's corner, no one was sure what was going to happen. What did you have to say to her?"

Anna (smiling): "I just told her 'This is how it's done.' And, I tapped gloves with her. I think she was expecting something else. But, that's not how I do things. Maybe she learned something. We'll see, I guess."
