BEFORE:

"It's always nice to come to Asylum and fight before the hometown fans," says Rhona with a smile. "And, getting a chance to get in with a champion like Katy's an opportunity you always look forward to."

"She's as rugged as it gets in this division," says Katy with a nod. "In fact, she's about as rugged as it gets in ANY division. Rhona's a challenge for anyone, and I'm always up for a challenge."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and 'Mars Bringer of War' by Gustav Holst, and that means the lovely Rhona Mitra of the Bazz Fight Club is on her way to the ring..."

Tess: "And she's getting a nice hand from the Philly fans..."

Cassie: "And, that's because, as Rhona pointed out, this is OUR hometown, too. So, while most fighters who come to Asylum are playing a road game, this is the friendly confines for Bazz."

McCarthy: "I'd say that it's amazing to have two stables in such a second class city, but, then, they're second class stables..."

Tess: "Mac..."

Cassie: "I think I felt a tug on my cape, Tess..."

McCarthy: "You don't SCARE me, Scabbo."

Cassie: "Have you seen Brenda tonight, Tess?"

Tess: "Come to think of it, I haven't..."

Cassie: "Which means she could be ANYwhere. But, probably somewhere in THIS ARENA..."

McCarthy: "I repeat, you don't...I smell smoke...AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Tess: "You know, the hot foot is a classic baseball prank..."

McCarthy: "These aren't some dirty old spikes! They're $900 Manolo Blahnik's!"

Cassie: "Yet, they burn pretty well."

McCarthy: "YOU LITTLE...I'LL SUE! I'll sue YOU and SONG and that giant Scottish nutjob and Weirdo and YOU, TOO, WALMART!"

Tess: "What did I do?"

O'Dell: "IF we could stop the slapstick for a few moments and direct our attentions to the RING, where Rhona is helped off with the robe to reveal a metallic gray two-piece and a body that looks ANYthing but 39 years old. And that's 'California Gurls' you hear pounding through the arena, and that means that 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', former lightweight champion Katy Perry is on her way to ringside!"

Tess: "And, Perry definitely looking to grab those titles back. She's definitely in the mix, no question of that."

O'Dell: "Katy into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that red bikini she favors, and it's getting the usual reaction from the crowd..."

McCarthy: "Low Philly standards..."

Cassie: "Want to try for the OTHER foot, Mac?"

McCarthy: "Don't you DARE..."

O'Dell (sighing): "We're about ready to go. Let's get some picks. Tess favors Katy. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Nothin' but a number. Mitra."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "Goin' with my GIRL, Rhona!"

O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Ladies setting up at range early and going to exchange from there. No surprise here, as both have both length and power and like to extend on their punches. There was a time when there would be a lot more brawling from Perry, of course, but those days are long gone..."

Tess: "And, when they went, she became the champion Front Street always thought she could be."

O'Dell: "Instead of that, we have sound boxing from both ladies. Good movement of foot, head, shoulders, and hands as the fighters work angles and use the jab both to range find and set up right hands. And, those right hands are few and far between early, but, when they land, they're doing so with more than a little force..."

Cassie: "These are two of the biggest hitters not just in their respective stables, but in the entire FCBA."

O'Dell: "No doubt about that, Cassie, and, if there are any doubts, seeing is believing, because heads are being snapped back every time one of those rights lands. We're in the final seconds of the first round now, good, back and forth stuff, but the edge going to Rhona, who's been more effective and a bit busier over these three minutes. There's the bell. Mitra in the first."

McCarthy: "Good start for the veteran."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second round on the same terms. Both fighters like this ranged stuff and both are plenty good at it. Perry keeping the guard a little higher this round, picking off more of Rhona's offerings and then firing back in the counter. She's not letting Mitra fight lead, but she's putting up a slicker defense..."

Cassie: "Smart move by Katy, because Rhona's a very accurate puncher. She's not going to miss on her own. You've got to MAKE her miss."

O'Dell: "And, Perry, who's very athletic and moves very well, can do some of that, but she's more picking off Rhona's punches than avoiding them. Mitra still getting some work home, though. And, she's getting punches put together in spots. Perry doing the same, and even backing up Rhona with a sharp flurry right there."

Tess: "This is the kind of fight the fans love. Lots of action. Lots of power. Heck, this is the kind of fight we announcers love."

O'Dell: "THIS announcer anyway. Good right hand from Mitra there! She backs Perry up a step and steps forward into a NASTY left hook from Katy! But, Rhona fires right back and we've got a donnybrook breaking out right now as we near the end of the second! A blizzard of punches being thrown right now and both fighters taking heavy leather right up to the bell! Smiles and glove taps exchanged and then they turn and head back to their corners. Close to Perry."

McCarthy: "19-19 now. But, after that, I'd be SHOCKED if this goes to the cards."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Into the third and, again, terms not changing. Ladies boxing at range. Perry with that higher guard, not quite letting Rhona get off first, but looking to block and counter when Mitra does punch. Rhona, meanwhile, angling a little more, slipping right away from Katy's power and ROCKING PERRY WITH A RIGHT HAND!"

Cassie: "What a punch! Rhona set that up with the left jab and just NAILED it!"

O'Dell: "And now Mitra looking to finish this thing. She's backing Perry up steadily with barrage after barrage of punches. Katy keeping the guard up, giving ground, jabbing back in spots but mostly taking and taking heavy. The older brunette now has the former champion on the ropes, both figuratively and literally..."

McCarthy: "This is the time to let the hands go in a big way. End it NOW."

O'Dell: "That's exactly Mitra's plan. She's taking a little body now, but just enough to try to drop the guard. Katy not going to do it. She's leaning back in the ropes, tight earmuff, rolling with the heavy leather pounding at her guard. Doing enough to keep the referee from stopping it, but no more. Ten seconds left. Mitra a solid right hand that sent sweat flying. Five seconds. Bell! Mitra's round wide."

Tess: "And, Rhona back on top 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with Mitra coming forward and Perry standing ground and HERE WE GO! Rhona and Katy having at it in the center of the ring, exchanging bomb after bomb here! Looks like the younger woman has shaken off the effects of round three and she's standing toe to toe as she and Rhona attempt to shell one another into submission!"

Tess: "Like I said, the kind of fight fans and announcers LOVE."

O'Dell: "Fans on their feet as this absolute blitz continues, both fighters determined to impose will here, but neither able to do so. Half way through the round and this is not slowing down. This is a flyweight work rate with welterweight power! Mitra backed up a step and she responds with a one-two that backs up Katy!"

McCarthy: "Like I said, this thing is NOT going to the cards. No way."

O'Dell: "Most lightweights wouldn't have gotten out of this round, but both of these fighters are still standing and still hammering away. Sweat flying as each one of these heavy shots lands. Heads getting snapped back, but, again, legs holding up despite all the power blows. Five seconds left. Bell! And another set of smiles and glove taps. This is FUN."

Cassie: "And, despite the fact that this isn't likely going ten, Rhona close?"

O'Dell: "Agreed."

Cassie: "Which puts Mitra up 39-37 after four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth begins where the second ended. Ladies back to work at range now, but more boxing and less of the attempt to impose will we saw in the last round..."

McCarthy: "Couldn't keep up that pace for long."

O'Dell: "Instead, we're settling into a more tactical battle now, both fighters using the left to try to set up the right hand and PERRY LANDS A BIG ONE! Katy a straight right that staggered Rhona! And now it's Katy who's all in looking to finish this thing! Mitra now being slowly backed up like Katy was in the third..."

Cassie: "Rhona's working to stay off the ropes. Not going straight back but back and right, trying to use a slow circle."

O'Dell: "Katy not having any. She's squaring Mitra up, forcing her back into the cables now and teeing off big time. Mitra looking to find a keyhole counter, but mostly staying on the defensive. She's still moving the feet, sliding along the ropes, making Perry adjust the feet to stay on the screws."

Tess: "Very slick stuff from Rhona. She's not just hanging on here."

O'Dell: "She is not. But, she's running clock and she's got it down to 20 seconds. Perry still looking for the finisher, but not looking like finding it in this stanza. Ten seconds to go. SOLID right hand from Katy, but Rhona ships the shell and stays afloat. Five seconds left. One more right from Katy and the bell. Perry wide."

McCarthy: "But, Mitra still up 48-47."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Second half begins with a bit of a surprise. Katy not trying to consolidate here. Willing to go back to the ranged boxing that's been the story most of the fight. Clearly thinks not much can be gained by trying to force the issue with Rhona at this point, and I'm guessing you think she's right, Cassie..."

Cassie: "You can see already that Rhona's legs are back. Try to force the issue with her and you're going to eat a lot of hard leather."

O'Dell: "Katy moving the head and feet, angling. Mitra using the left jab to try to control Perry's head, line her up for some big right hands. We're about half way through a close one that's seen a lot of good boxing and plenty of power, which has been the story of this one, and DOWN GOES MITRA! Perry a BLISTERING right and Rhona sent crashing to her right side!"

McCarthy: "Perry hit her right on the button with that one..."

O'Dell: 'Perry to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. And Mitra rolling to her hands and knees..."

Tess: "I can't believe she's not OUT after that shot."

O'Dell: "Seven. Eight. Rhona getting to her feet...but she collapses back to the canvas and the referee waives it off! Rhona can't quite beat the count and it's over and your winner by KO6 is 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Katy Perry, and, Katy, talk about a pair of big hitters..."

Katy (shaking her head): "I'm going to tell you, Tess, I might be done with these Bazz girls. I mean, I've fought a lot of girls who can hit, but, these girls from Bazz? Mitra and Regan? They are in a class by themselves. Must have something to do with that hill or whatever, but that kind of power is just...wow."

Tess: "You managed to pull it out, though, so, what's next for you?"

Katy: "Depends on a lot of things. The goal is to get those belts back, and, whatever fight gets me closer to that, I'm up for."
