BEFORE: When Amelle Berrabah made a winning BBU return earlier this month - stopping Lioness Club's Mandy Capristo in five - she immediately challenged Emma Bunton and vowed to send the former Spice Girl into the point of no return career-wise. That was a brave call even though Bunton's recent results have been pretty woeful but the prospects of visiting the blonde's home turf in North London was always the condition that the Sugababes singer had to meet in order to make her wish happen.
However Amelle's not afraid of the biggest challenges and her involvement in the infamous Mr. Marcus Invitational suggests she's ready to accept any condition just to beat a girl she has targeted. Kate Abdo thinks that Emma is a tougher opponent than Mandy but perhaps that's down to some old fashioned English/German rivalry and Amelle is keen to make some enemies in Barnet even before the fight as she refuses to touch gloves with the local favorite.
Emma Bunton wears a light blue bikini set and white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Amelle Berrabah wears a red basque top with black trim and red gloves. Black hair short. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in he flyweight division.
Round 1:
Both women rip into each other as Emma wants to make a jump on her younger opponent however Amelle's ready to soak up plenty of leather while dishing out similar punishment. The following head hunting galore bends the blonde veteran to the side and indicates that she's gonna struggle in the classic flyweight war of attrition which only fuels Amelle's work rate down the stretch. As she keeps picking Emma off, the crowd support increases but that doesn't stop Bunton from getting pummelled back to the turnbuckle where she sags on her knees behind a tight earmuff.
Round 2:
More trouble for the former Spice Girl as she eats a quick hook on the left brow ridge and fails to respond in time dropping into a stalking aerial drive that bursts her guard repeatedly in the opening minute. She refuses to retreat even though Amelle rips more clean punches up the middle and only yields the real estate when the Sugababes singer switches low to punish the ribcage. A couple of hooks soften the jugs and in the final minute Emma's backed into the ropes again where her opponent keeps sending uppercuts to dismantle the high guard and rock the blonde's ponytail back & forth very much to the crowd's dismay.
Round 3:
Emma finally sticks some significant leather into the brunette's face as she clobbers her to the body and delivers an uppercut series that bounces off the chin. Berrabah needs to apply more defense as her aggressive tactics stall thereafter but the trigger-happy jabbing approach loses it's precision and the local singer struggles to make further inroads in the final minute, allowing Amelle to clinch her and shove butt-in-ropes with a determined display of core strenght.
Round 4:
Bunton bides more time in the opening minute as she stays clear of Berrabah's aerial attack and nails her on the counter however the single hand approach stalls the brunette's aggression only briefly and when the war of attrition resmues in the second minute, Emma's ponytail begins it's back & forth run again as Amelle smacks the blonde over the top and hoovers around the brow ridges making the local girl yelp in pain. Emma's footwork is also very much inferior and once Berrabah stucks her mitts in the breadbasket, Bunton just slumps forward and tries to clinch the younger opponent. However Amelle keeps pounding away at the midsection and leaves the Barnet veteran gasping for air at the bell; Kate Abdo thinks it's gonna be a real struggle for her to put the Hampshire brunette away tonight regardless of the overwhelming support.
Round 5:
Amelle places her jabs straight into the blonde's face and Emma begins to wear out really quickly now, the brunette's attacks become too accurate and simply too frequent for the blonde veteran to stay in the exchanges anymore and when Berrabah rips a nasty gash under Bunton's left eye half way through the round, even the crowd support dwindles and the Sugababes singer just keeps throwing more leather on her aching foe to the point Emma is rooted to the spot in the center of the ring and gets pummelled over the top with her head snapping side to side. A quick switch on the solar plexus drops the guard alltogether and has the Barnet veteran yelping in pain before Amelle just shuts her eyes with a massive uppercut on the exposed chin... BLONDE GIRL DOWN!!! That was too much for Bunton to handle as she jack-knifes to her knees and gurgles in pain... the ref can only help her out as much as he can... the slow count reaches eight and Emma's up on her feet but Berrabah quickly pounds her into the turnbuckle and switches her assault on the ribcage literally beating the older singer into a standstill... the bell rescues Emma from imminient disaster but Kate Abdo has little doubts about the outcome of this contest.
Round 6:
Emma is clearly hurting and she's reduced to a sexy blonde punchbag on the spot with Amelle ripping puches up the middle like crazy and roughing her up at will... the crowd mounts another emotional support but when their favorite bends to the side after a heavy right hook on the temple the stage is set for another knockdown... and Amelle smacks the aching blonde with another uppercut on the jaw that sinks Bunton on her knees, arms drop by the side in the proccess and it's even painful to watch the hooking blockbuster that nails the veteran on the nose and lifts her off her feet... Emma half-spins to the left with her feet still off the ground and she crashes into the canvas HARD moments later... that's all she wrote, folks! Even the slow count doesn't make any difference as Bunton remains unresponsive to it and the brunette yells out in delight when the ineviteable happens... KO6 Amelle Berrabah!!!
AFTER: Amelle pretty much silenced the KO Club with that epic knockout but the result was a foregone conclusion for a while and Kate Abdo is simply impressed with the brunette's performance even though Emma looks to be heading towards the exit door at this stage of her BBU career: "Let's make no mistake, Amelle DESTROYED her on home turf of all places and that's as bad as it gets for all ye Bunton fans! Victoria Beckham isn't probably interested in a BBU comeback and last time I checked Geri Halliwell was still hell bent on knocking Kylie Minogue out in the FCBA. There will be no Spice revenge on Amelle for this beatdown she handed to one of her most prolific peers and well, I don't know what will Kate Garraway do with her once so acclaimed pin-up fighter. Emma looks to be done with serious boxing".
On the other hand Amelle needs to be wrestled away from any post-fight punishment and vows to make up for it against Maria Ozawa whom she has stalked earlier this week following the Japanese girl's epic twelve rounds stoppage at the hands of Kelly Hall: "Yeah, so I removed Emma Bunton from journeywoman status and hell, she was never a contender in first place! She's 40 years old, that's retirement age in the flyweight so I have no idea why they keep sending her out there and expect some results? Nevermind that, next up is Maria Ozawa, that pornstar deserves some serious beating too! And she won't run away from me even if I have to travel all the way to Tokyo to get what I want!"
Final result: Amelle Berrabah def. Emma Bunton KO6.
