BEFORE: Yasmin Verheijen is just a single win away from signing the Lioness Club contract and that's the main reason the Dutch pageant arrives in Barnet tonight as everyone in North London expects her to succeed and knock the blonde newcomer out. Indeed, Amy Willerton is former Miss Great Britian and a great addition to BBU roster; when a couple of peageant winners duke it out in the ring that's worthy of all the Main Events around the country even though Amy makes her debut tonight and her actual boxing skills remain unknown at this stage. She has voiced herself as a new force in both lightweight and welterweight divisions however Yasmin posted a couple of important wins against Laury Thilleman and Daisy Lowe earlier this year to cancel all the blonde pre-fight bragging.
Yasmin Verheijen wears a violet bikini and orange gloves. Long black hair in loose waves. Amy Willerton wears a red bikini and white gloves. Long blonde hair straight, curled at the bottom. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Yasmin wants to make sure nobody in Barnet has second thoughts about her future and tries to outmuscle the newcomer in close range with some heavy jabbing but Amy's defence weathers the early storm and in fact the blonde girl responds surprisingly well bouncing into the brunette's face with a nasty double combo before adding a low - but legal - hook on the tummy. Yasmin adjusts her stance a bit however not quick enough to cover up for a left handed blast on the mouth that snaps her head back and dumps into more trouble thereafter. Willerton shows a lot of poise for a newcomer and pierces the high guard with methodical jabbing capped off by another heavy belter on the navel. Yasmin even winces a little when she's forced to back off and it's obvious she didn't quite expect such a stubborn display from the newcomer.
Round 2:
More success for Willerton who beats the Dutch pageant over the top and smacks her on both cheeks before driving another hook on the stomach and bumping Verheijen off into mid range. She keeps picking her off thereafter and Yasmin's intimidating tactics require immediate update as she loses the subsequent trade off and has to circle back to safety. Amy doesn't rush the pursuit though and displays a lot of focus in her eyes which impresses Kate Abdo a lot however the crowd begins to lose it's patience as Yasmin seems happy to simply avoid getting punched come the final minute and Willerton doesn't want to risk more than it's required and settles for a peek-a-boo exchange that ends in a predictable clinching stalemate.
Round 3:
Perhaps Verheijen heard a bit too much about that alleged welterweight power from the fellow pageant winner as she keeps hanging back in mid distance long enough to encourage the blonde into a more aggressive - and effective - attack. Amy pierces the high guard and reels the Dutch girl on her heels with a left/right combo on the jaw but misses the hook to the temple and gets clinched into another stalemate instead. There's a lot of pressure on Yasmin to perform tonight and Kate Abdo thinks it holds her back against a BBU rookie but the crowd doesn't like the single punching approach in the final minute especially that Amy wins that exchange too and blasts another piercing left/right cross on the mouth to make Verheijen gasp for air at the bell.
Round 4:
Amy leans on the front leg early and it looks like she's ready to pounce on her hesitant opponent. However Yasmin shows superior speed & agility across the boards and escapes the aerial attack before sinking Willerton with a cross hooking route and then bumping her off in close range. A hurried up hook on the temple finds the target and wobbles Amy back however before she can respond with a quick overhand, Yasmin bounces into her rack with a flurry of uppercuts and beats her towards the turnbuckle with more vicious body strikes. Another clinch ends the round but this time it's Amy seeking the easy way out and the crowd begins to get excited again when Yasmin refuses to let go and whispers something into the blonde's ear.
Round 5:
Yasmin kicks into higher gear and lashes out at her opponent with a flurry of leather over the top and allthough Amy found a lot of success in a classic trade-off before, she allows the brunette to spike her on the cheeks a bit too frequently now and has to duck underneath the assault to find some respite. However the Dutch pageant smacks her with a brutal cross hook on the nose and wobbles back with a quiet whimper before adding a jabbing series on the chest that caves Willerton in and lets Yasmin fire away in close range thereafter. Brunette gets a little vocal while throwing harpoons to the ribcage but she backs a slumping foe towards the corner and signs off a very promising round with a nasty uppercut that shatters the high guard and snaps the blonde's head to the side.
Round 6:
Amy looks a little less confident now but she stays in the close range exchange early in the sixth until Yasmin pierces the liver area and bends her into a quick uppercut on the jaw... the blonde's knees buckle significantly for the first time tonight and she keeps dropping her head too low so Verheijen punishes her with a series of half-uppercuts and bumps off into the ropes where she delivers a classic jug muggin' follow up to slump the English pageant even further.. Amy stands tall and tries to punch back from behind the guard but eats plenty of solid jabs on the lips and groans out in pain while attempting another clinch; Yasmin drills her on the liver area to stay on top instead and clatters one last hook on the boobs right at the death with Willerton looking a bit worn out here.
Round 7:
Verheijen hassles the slow moving blonde until she catches her on the nose and bends her awkwardly to the side... what's worse, Amy leaves her liver exposed one more time and the brunette simply clatters into it making the Brit scowl in pain her loudest before a quick uppercut switch finds the jaw and sends the blonde reeling into the ropes... Amy bounces off them but fails to get rid of the dummy mode and has no chance to avoid a brutal right cross on the mouth WHICH SENDS HER CRASHING DOWN ON HER SIDE on the spot... the KO Club explodes in delight and Yasmin herself wants to jump for joy already even though Willerton shows a lot of courage and scampers back to her feet at eight despite looking a bit woozy... she goes for immediate counter but fails to even graze the Dutch flesh and soaks up another hooking drive that pounds her butt-in-ropes and has Verheijen ravaging some fine English midriff at the bell... Amy slumps into aching scowls but is rescued by the bell... Kate Abdo thinks she's got nothing left in the tank though and sure enough, even Kate Garraway is making her way to ringside during the interval. You all know what that means!
Round 8:
Amy refuses to quit on her stool but fails to shake off the jelly knees mode allowing Yasmin to pick her off over the top before the blonde's aches are getting too painful to endure and her chin slumps invitingly into a nasty uppercut series that rocks the head back & forth until Willerton simply can't handle the heat anymore AND JUST SLIDES DOWN ON HER KNEES... she bends her head against the canvas and literally spits her heart out trying to catch her breath... the count passes her by as she doesn't even make an effort to salvage any pride and the contract ceremony can officially begin now! KO8 Yasmin Verheijen!!!
AFTER: Kate Garraway climbs into the ring and personally removes Yasmin's gloves before the two women share a friendly hug. The Lioness Club press office CEO then makes her way to where the busted up Amy sits down on her heels and interrupts her pondering the defeat any further. She lifts her back to her feet and takes over the announcer's mic encouraging the Barnet audience to applaud the blonde's otherwise unsuccessful debut. And that's the loudest cheer a visiting fighter gets in the KO Club for quite some time, Willerton finished inside the Top 10 at Miss Universe after all and despite hailing from Portsmouth, she clearly has plenty of fans in London as well.
Kate Abdo joins the applause but indicates there was little of that welterweight power on hand from the blonde pageant which can be blamed on some rookie pressure more than anything else: "Amy will certainly make a lot of cash travelling with the BBU circuit and well, perhaps Kate Garraway will offer her more opportunities sooner rather than later. We all know Zoe Salmon's stock has hit rock bottom and I'd love to see Amy pound that Irish cow into a pulp!"
As Amy affords herself a quick smile before leaving the ring to heal the BBU debut wounds, all eyes turn to Kate & Yasmin again and the Lioness Club contract is officially handed which the Dutch brunette signs on the spot and joins the ranks of the Barnet based stable: "I couldn't be more happier than I am right now!", she tells to the packed crowd, "I promise to represent the lioness colors with all my skill, both physical and mental - and deliver whatever is expected from me! I am the future of Lioness Club's lightweight division and hope to bring the stable that elusive 130 lbs title that neither Karolina Kurkova nor Christine Bleakley were able to secure.
"And here's your first Lioness assignement, Yasmin!", Kate takes over the mic again, "Punch that Irish struggler Zoe Salmon into a complete mess next month! That FREE AGENT struggler because I can confirm we are making a change to our roster. With Yasmin's arrival we don't require the services of former Miss Northern Ireland anymore. Zoe Salmon has been officially released from the Lioness Club with immediate effect!"
"Take that and smoke it in your pipe, Zoe!", Yasmin giggles and waves to the crowd as the cameras fade away to conclude the BBU TV's Lioness Club Winter Special coverage. See ya all tomorrow for the International Jewels PPV in Tokyo Dome City Hall!
