BEFORE: Alex Gerrard (nee Curran) realizes this is probably her last chance to become the BBU welterweight champion and her quest begins with fellow blonde model Elena Santarelli who found a new life after signing with Girls Friday earlier this year. The Italian was previously released by the Latin Union and she remains best known to BBU fans for her double victory over the much maligned Peta Todd.

Alex Curran wears a red bikini set with white trim and black gloves. Long blonde hair straight. Elena Santarelli wears a light blue bikini set with pink trim and silver gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a loose bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
Elena wants to surprise the fellow model and stalks her from the opening bell but fails to dwarf Curran's guard and eats a couple of nasty hooks on the mouth instead as the Merseyside blonde gallops into a counterpunching drill to stay on top of her opponent for remainder of the round. Elena doesn't show much fear despite the early setback and remains committed to dissecting Alex's defence apart but struggles to make her shots count and gets exposed badly when most of Curran's punches find the target and make Santarelli look a bit dependable on her attacks alone.

Round 2:
Alex is no Peta Todd and Elena realizes she must improve her stance but the Merseyside girl doesn't give her any freedom to work with as she launches immediate jabbing assault that sends the Italian onto her heels after a nice left/right combo finds the chin and sinks the older blonde on the spot. More from Curran thereafter, the Lioness Club veteran hammers away from both sides to dump Santarelli back to the ropes and cleans out her tummy leaving the Italian gasping for air and clinching for a much needed respite.

Round 3:
Elena swings over the top and grazes the English model's temples but fails to find that big punch and quickly soaks up more counterpunching assault that has Curran sticking her mitts into the Italian's face. Santarelli moans in wake of that onslaught but tries to stay in the exchange regardless - a bad choice that makes Girls Friday coach Taryn Terrell cringe - Curran shows superior fire power in a close range dust-up and dumps her foe on the heels before landing a vicious cross hook on the nose that finally makes Elena think better of it. That's too late to make a difference though and another round ends with Santarelli trapped in a desperate earmuff and Curran laying into her with all her might.

Round 4:
Alex is visibly quicker on her feet now and the repeated punishment begins to take it's toll on the Italian who fails to make any real impression on the English lass and allows her to pick off the single hand approach to the point even coach Terrell is disgusted with it. However when Elena tries to open up, she gets blocked off and eats a flurry of jabs from point blank range that bends her forward and has Curran ripping uppercuts to the side of her boobs. There's just no way to avoid the heat for the troubled Italian and she gets smacked across her face late in the going again, Alex leans on the front leg and keeps hammering shots up the middle which leaves Santarelli in all kinds of bother at the bell, the buxom model shakes her head and gets involved in a heated conversation with coach Terrell at the bell.

Round 5:
Elena storms into a desperate attack but after landing the initial cross hook on Alex's nose, she gets clobbered to the liver area and wobbles forward with a loud scream that enables the Merseyside blonde to bump her off and catch on the nose with a wild left uppercut... Elena goes all shimmy shake n the spot and drops her arms leaving her opponent with a clear path for a whooping left/right combo on the cheeks... AND DOWN GOES SANTARELLI... the lanky Italian hits the canvas on her butt and leans back covering her face while trying to fend off the dizziness... she manages to salvage some pride by getting up at eight but her eyes indicate she will have a very hard time in coming back into this fight... Curran mocks her efforts shouting at her in visible excitement and when the fight resmues, a flurry of Merseyside jabs backs a hapless Italian to the corner where Alex romps to the gut and shuts Elena into a screaming demise... even the Wembley Arena crowd loses the track of all the punches that reduce Elena into a delicious punchbag and the ref steps in before the 34 year old is knocked out cold... TKO5 Alex Curran!!

AFTER: That was nice and easy for the Merseyside girl who blows a kiss to the camera and twerks some fine jug which probably makes husband Stevie G. really proud - or jealous - now. Of course the weekly poll is still open and there's every chance Alex upsets Kate Upton in the popular vote; she makes sure the BBU TV viewers offer her as much support as possible and immediately hits twitter for hashtag glory. She awaits the winner of Su-Elise Nash vs Jameela Jamil next but dismisses both these singers as "similar punchbags to this Italian tramp I just wrecked". Ouch!

Meanwhile Elena is comforted briefly by coach Taryn Terrell however that's barely a professional courtesy move for the TV coverage's sake as Taryn's eyes are stone cold and it's obvious she will give the Italian a classic hairdryer treatment back in the Newcastle gym next week. Girls Friday still have Catherine Tyldesley left on tonight's card but she will be guided by Melanie Sykes which probably indicates that Santarelli is the third-string performer on the stables's roster behind both Joan Smalls and the blonde Coronation Street veteran.
