BEFORE: Dutch model Sylvie Meis calls Germany her second home not only because her ex-husband Rafael van der Vaart used to play for Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg in the past. She's a frequent contributor to various modelling shows around the country including the Berlin Fashion Week and markets her personal lingerie line for the Hunkemoeller brand with a great success as well. Needless to say this makes Collien Fernandes a little upset entering the fight since out of all the five bouts on the Foxfire Atlantic vs Black Eagles Boxing stable war this is the one where German fans actually wouldn't mind to see the visiting team win the most.

Collien's BBU career started on a dismal note, she got knocked out by both Danielle Lineker and Fearne Cotton earlier this year and the signs are she's gonna struggle to make a meaningful impact on the flyweight division in the foreseeable future. Plus her tonight's opponent is one of the most experienced fighters around; Sylvie has racked up 25 bouts under her belt which is by far the most out of the entire Foxfire Atlantic roster.

Round 1:
Both women waste no time into jabbing at each other and Collien manages to wobble the blonde with a quick hooking switch before adding a belting shot on the navel that dumps Sylvie on her heels in the center of the ring and allows the brunette to land more clean punches to the body. Meis tries to brawl the younger opponent away but gets spiked on the ribcage too often to succeed in her plans and reverts into a hurried up retreat which only fuels Collien's attacks. She spends the remainder of the round chasing the model around the ring but doesnt quite match her pace and has to settle for a single hand assault which barely hurts the Dutch woman.

Round 2:
More aggression from the brunette who's really determined to avoid a losing skid; she gallops into the blonde's body again - which is a familiar tactics leading into Sylvie's defeats in the past - and stacks her up in the middle of the ring before a jabbing frenzy finally splits the mitts and sends Meis' head rocking on the spot. Another hectic escape allows Sylvie to catch some breath but she needs to respond in a proper manner if she wants to tame the German assault sooner rather than later. The Cologne crowd roars in support when Meis loses her footing and drops onto the ropes in the final minute but Fernandes gets clinched into a stalemate instead of ripping more blows to the blonde's body and that makes Eagles coach Gina Wild pound her fist in frustration against the cornerpost.

Round 3:
Sylvie finally catches the TV showgirl on the fly early in the third and clubs Collien on the left eye however she gets wrapped into a close range slugfest thereafter as the brunette remains glued into pounding her to the ribcage. Both women ache in a desperate phone booth struggle but Collien nails the model with a crisp uppercut on the jaw to gain separation and slams her on the mouth thereafter which wobbles Meis on her heels and allows the local girl to add more jabbing punishment from point-blank range. Sylvie is backed into the ropes and allthough she swings plenty of response, Fernandes ducks underneath it and slams a left/right cross into the rack to sink the Dutch model on her knees before a belting hook on the liver area makes Meis yelp in pain right at the bell.

Round 4:
Fernandes jumps into another leather frenzy but gets wrestled back towards the ropes when she skims off the blonde's forearms and fails to stagger her with the initial charge. This is a desperate struggle for Sylvie to make it competitive as any close calls might go against her but she does well to tame the German onslaught and peppers the brunette's body to secure a valuable advantage while trying to keep Collien trapped in a precarious position. The German yells out in frustration and clubs the blonde on the mouth with a couple of jabs but can't fight back from the corner and allows Sylvie to wrench her to the guts late in the going; she sinks worryingly low on her knees but the blonde runs out of time to inflict more damage.

Round 5:
Another close range clubbing duel opens the fifth but as Sylvie finally manages to whip a jabbing combo on the mouth, Collien's knees buckle on the spot and bend her to the side with a loud gasp. Meis jumps into a ribcage piercing assault moments later and delivers a nasty hook to the liver area which makes the brunette scream out even louder and seek immediate clinch. However Sylvie leaps forward and bumps her rival off to her heels before blasting a left hook on the jaw THAT SENDS FERNANDES DOWN ON HER BACKSIDE in a blink of an eye! The Lanxess Arena roars in a mild support which confirms a strong Dutch presence in the audience but owner/coach Gina Wild is furious over the sudden demise of her protegee. Collien indicates that nothing happened and gets back to her feet at six however she's under heavy aerial onsaught for remainder of the round and fails to respond to Meis' offensive drill that leaves her sagging on the ropes in the dying seconds with former Mrs. van der Vaart raining punches up the middle and rattling the earmuff cover right until the ref hauls her off the German prey.

Round 6:
Collien seeks immediate redemption and squares up to the Dutch model in close range however her body shots are well covered by the low guard now and Meis clubs her over the top to secure the counterpunching advantage and wobble the German TV personality on her heels just shy of the minute mark. Fernandes gets staggered on her feet and fails to escape the close range heat as Sylvie slices her high guard and pounds her back to the ropes down the stretch. Collien begins to yelp in pain while getting thoroughly outworked by the blonde's aggression and bellows out behind a tight earmuff once she gets trapped butt-in-ropes. Meis screams out herself but keeps the foot on the gas; she reverts into spiking the dark complexed skin and sinks Fernandes on jelly knees in the final minute. Suddenly most of the Cologne audience realizes that the German is living on borrowed time and offers nothing back anymore while the Dutch model bashes her midsection into an aching nightmare evident by Collien's slumped attire at the bell. The brunette shakes her head in visible pain and hugs the left side of her ribcage before walking slowly back to coach Gina Wild whose stone cold face doesn't indicate anything positive about to happen for the Eagles entourage.

Round 7:
Fernandes fails to shake off the ammount of pounding she's taken since the knockdown and gets pummelled to the body early in the seventh again as Meis rips into the German flesh working around the elbows. Collien sinks deeper on her knees as she tries to lock a much needed clinching respite but gets bumped on her heels and Sylvie beats her for a clubbing punch on the nose which drops the guard on the spot. The follow up on the left ear half-spins the brunette with eyes closed and the belting hook on the rack serves as the icing on the cake... DOWN GOES FERNANDES... the proud TV presenter crashes flat on her back HARD and bellows out into sobbing spasms when the ref starts to count her out... Meis winks back to coach Sophia Myles and allthough the entire Lanxess Arena urges the fallen brunette to get up, she just can't find the strenght in her anymore... she only gets up to a sitting position but pounds her glove in frustration against the canvas shaking her head back & forth in the proccess. She points at the bruised ribcage and stares down at the blonde's feet when the count reaches ten... KO7 Sylvie Meis!!!

AFTER: This was a fine blonde vs brunette contest which may ignite some personal feuding in the locker room since coach Gina Wild truly loses her temper when the verdict is announced and even Denise van Outen doesn't know whether it's directed at the victorious Dutch model, the German loser or at herself? Collien looks shattered mentally more then physically as she stares down at the canvas while her opponent's hand is raised in the air and despite a quick hug from Meis, she doesn't look her in the eye while trying to wipe off some tears.

Unfortunately for the German brunette, this fight mirrored the Fearne Cotton script - she looked really good in the early stages and probably was ahead on the cards after four rounds before the knockdown in the fifth destroyed her fight plan and allowed Sylvie to rally back into KO glory within the next six minutes and a change. You can't buy that kind of experience and the blonde took full advantage of rattling the brunette's confidence which also indicates that Collien's biggest problem is pure punching resistance and the reaction - or lack thereof - to adversity. She needs to improve on that soon before Tom Hilton and most of the experts flush her prospects down the toilet!
