Michelle Joy Phelps (BBU Debut) vs. Charlie Webster (BBU Debut) Phelps: 31y/o, 5'6, ???#, [???]; Webster: 33y/o, 5'10, ???#, [32B] (Unmanaged vs. Unmanaged) Result: BBU; Story: Girls Friday (Girls Friday)
While Tom Hilton and Denise Van Outen had come up with the idea of a team event between their two T.V shows. It was the shots fired between Michelle and Charlie that got the ball rolling to making this card a reality. Over time, though; both women have seemed to become more civil with each other, making people worry that the two may not go at each other as hard as first expected. Michelle appears to disprove that with her comments at the press conference for the event. "While Charlie and I are starting to talk and get to know each other; we both want this badly," says Michelle. Then she adds "I mean I've been given the job of team captain since I'm the only girl who works at the Real View on my team.” Charlie agrees with the statement as she adds "we both work in a male dominated field so we should be allies which are something we’ve discussed.” Then she adds "but we're both competitive; which led us to this point, we have to find out who is the better woman for our teams and our pride.”
Now it's fight night; Michelle comes down the ramp for her team wearing the blue gear for the Real view team, her hair tied into a ponytail but unlike the others, she has a big C on the front of her shorts for the captain. While Charlie has her team's red coloured gear as she walks down the opposite ramp for the BBU T.V side, her hairs also in a ponytail. The women enter the ring with serious expressions as they are ordered to the ring centre for the final instructions. Charlie looks down at the 4 inches smaller Michelle, which doesn't seem so ridiculous when you consider the difference earlier in the night between the lanky Jackson and little Gallagher. The women touch gloves in a slightly more friendly way to what we’ve seen up to now, but their faces haven't lost that hardness. Remember it's 2-1 to the Real view team, so Michelle has a lot of pressure as team captain to win it for her team now; while Charlie must win for her team to have any chance of winning.
10 rounds of 125lb catchweight action.
Round 1: As the bell rings; we get to see what these two can do in a boxing ring since they both live and breathe the sport outside the ring. Charlie is showing great technique early on; even for a full lightweight, she's got good speed that's allowing her to use the jab and keep Michelle at bay. Michelle is still looking the quicker being that she's a natural bantamweight whose had to come up in weight. But she's having a lot more success at getting to the inside of her opponents taller reach then what Gallagher did earlier. It's still a feeling out round as Websters jab is keeping the action at mid range as Phelps is working out how to mount a more severe attack than the quick one-two punches she's getting into the body when she does get under the jab. Both are showing their boxing knowledge as the round is fought like a chess match with both trying to get their style to work the best. At the bell; both women nod at the other as they return to their corners.
Round 2: It looks like Michelle is the one whose put Charlie into the check in this bout as she manages a more sustained attack early to the body. Charlie grunts as she clinches but Michelle can get her short, sharp right hook working around the left side of the taller woman. They're separated as Michelle has a smile on her face as Christine Bleakley says "she probably thinks she has this fight perfectly planned for; let's see how long that lasts.” Charlie manages a few more jabs to the face before Michelle manages to get under again and lay a beating on the now reddening body of Webster whose got a hurt look. Again she manages to clinch up to try and stop the punches, but she’s being kept on the ropes with Phelps still managing to get that hook into the body. Christine says "Webster needs to fight like the big woman she is; stop the simple jab approach and hammer fist Phelps around the ring!” At the bell; they calmly release each other, but now Phelps is grinning like a cat while Webster is annoyed.
Round 3: Whether Webster heard Bleakley or just worked it out herself; she’s starting to add heavier punches to force Phelps back. Phelps evidently expecting the jab to duck under; is now taking several punches that she's now having to guard from or it's going to become a short night for her. Michelle's now seeking to enforce the clinch but keeps eating a hard jab to her beautiful face that's starting to bruise under the power of Webster. "See! This is why that old hag Van Outen should be turfed out and I should get her job for BBU T.V" says Bleakley. Phelps finally manages to hang on as the two women seem to be whispering to each other while they attempt to push the other around. The ref separates them and it's back to Phelps taking several hard punch to land a punch to the body which isn't a great trade. The bell rings with Michelle's face bruising up and her grin now completely gone as she looks hurt. While Charlie remains all business when returning to her corner.
Round 4: Phelps seems to want this again after a hard round which appeared to have taken the fight out of her. She manages to wrestle her way to Websters body again as the strategy of cutting the taller girl down seems to be having some effect as Charlie is grimacing under the repeated shots. But as they're separated and ordered to fight; an overly keen Phelps dives into a hard straight to her nose that has it bleeding straight away. Blood is running freely from her nostrils as tears fill her eyes and she's attempting to retreat and refocus while Charlie looks stunned at the damage. Bleakley shouts "get at her you dumb bytch! Jesus maybe after this I should fight Webster if that's her reactions.” Charlie's face hardens again as she hunts down her injured foe around the ring; she's using the jab as a measuring stick and just missing with haymakers as Phelps is almost sprinting backwards. The bell rings with Michelle holding her nose, crying loudly as Charlie only walks to her corner, ignoring her rival.
Round 5: Somehow Michelle manages to come out for this round; still with tears streaked down her face and blood running from her nose. Bleakley says "well you can't question Phelps heart for coming out for this round but can ask how smart she is because if her nose isn’t broken yet, it will be if it gets hit hard again.” Charlie doesn't let up as again she gives chase with Michelle just running backward, guarding her nose against the jabs. Webster heard her prey into a corner and unleashes punch after punch to attempt to end this bout now. The ref is watching keenly as Phelps is yelping and is barely defending herself so mercifully, he steps in and stops the fight.
Winner: Charlie Webster TKO round 5.
Michelle is quickly led to her corner where first aiders check her nose; luckily it didn't get broken, but they quickly make sure the blood is stopped. Charlie gets her gloves taken off and heads to check Michelle to make sure she's ok and even holds her hand as the first aiders work to stop the blood. After they've got the blood under control; Charlie helps up Michelle and raises her hand to the crowd before they hug. Then they laugh as Webster points at her sore stomach and whispers "maybe no hugs ok baby.” Michelle raises Charlie's hand before she leaves the ring so Christine can interview the victor.
Bleakley: so you two are best friends now? Webster: (smiling) I and Michelle didn't get off on the best footing did we? But now we've gotten to know each other we're friends now.
Bleakley: well you two were not friendly in here tonight; how hard was it to fight her? Webster: as we said pre-fight; we needed this bout as while we've become friends; neither of us wants to admit the other's better.
Bleakley: did you not worry about her nose after round 4? Webster: she could have quit after that round, and I'd have still respected her, but the fact she wanted to go on is why we get on; two hot, tough women and I hope she'll be ok for drinks later.
Bleakley: last question; any plans for the future? Webster: anyone who knows me knows boxing is my sport, so I'd happily take bouts; maybe I and you hmm.
Both women go nose to nose; smiling as they shake hands in a long hard shake then leave the ring on opposite sides.
The scoreboard reads Real view 2 BBU T.V 2 with the main event to go.
