JENNIFER MORRISON VS LEAH PIPES Results: Lookout; Writing: Archer Jennifer: 37 YO, 5’5 ¼ (1.66 m), 6-11-0 since 2005, Innsmouth Female Fighting Institute Leah: 27 YO, 5’6 ½ (1.69 m), 0-2-0 since 2014, Pretty Little Punchers Inc.
Before: Leah Pipes first up to the pre-fight podium to tell assembled press: “I have to thank IFFI and Jennifer for that open challenge. I am in serious need of a fight and even more in need of a win. The PLP has been patient with me, but I know they expect to me to show some good reason to keep me on their roster. A few extra-curricular catfights like the one I had in Las Vegas with those CW girls is not what I was signed to do. So I am more than determined to win this fight. Sorry, Jennifer, but that’s the way it is going to be.”
Jennifer Morrison sounds equally determined when her turn comes: “Leah is a kid and she’s not the one who has lost 3 fights in a row—though losing two of them to Rachel McAdams and Laura Vandervoort aren’t so bad.”
“Then you lost that one to Tracy Spiradakos, but she was 4-3-1 at the time, so I guess wasn’t so bad—not like losing to me will be,” Leah says brightly.
“Who ARE you, anyway?” Jennifer asks in annoyance.
“I’m on ‘The Originals’ on The CW,” Leah said. “and the one who is going to beat you.”
Jennifer was not pleased: “You’re the one who is about to have her losing streak extended. Maybe then they’ll fire you and the rest of us won’t have to put up with you.”
Leah just smiled wickedly: “Don’t get your hopes up, Jenny, I plan on being around a lot longer than some people think.”
Fight Night finds Jennifer Morrison in a red camisole top and black briefs. Red gloves and boots with black laces. Hair pulled back in a ponytail with a red scrunchy holding in place. Leah in a white camiosol top, dark purple briefs, white gloves and boots with purple laces. Hair in a ponytail with a purple ribbon bow to hold it in place. Leah grinning at Jennifer who gives the younger woman an icy glare in return. However ring instructions and glove swipe pass calmly. Fighters go to their corners and the bell rings. The fight is on!
R1: Jennifer and Leah head straight for each other at midring, but at cautious in their initial exchanges. Both bobbing and shifting, sending out probing punches and judging each other. Leah then makes the first aggressive move, a quick feint to the left and she tries to force her way in from the right. Solid exchange of head shots as both heads get swiveled, but both seem to recover and go at each other to the body. Some good meaty shots to the body from both fighters, but Leah seems to have more power in her shots and Jennifer falling back slightly. Leah keeps up the pressure, but then Jennifer fires out a couple of lashing rights and lefts to the head. Leah pulls back with her gloves up and looking for breathing space. Jennifer following up with some strong belly shots that have Leah hunching up. Leah still in retreat shows a decent jab that Jennifer chooses not to force. Instead the IFFI fighter circles and looks for openings. Leah shows some defensive skill in blocking most shots, but Jennifer remains the aggressor to the bell and takes a close opening round. Both fighters looking very serious as they head for their corners.
R2; Both fighters aggressive from the start of this round, Jennifer trying to force Leah back. Leah being evasive with her footwork, but then swinging back to attack. Fight goes all over the ring, as Leah and Jennifer take turns forcing the other back. Punching spread out over both head and body, but slowly Leah gains ground with steady knocking of Jennifer’s. Jennifer hunching up, trying to keep her upper body moving, but these defensive moves allow Leah to creep ahead on the judges’ cards and bring her the round close.
R3: Jennifer tries to seize the offensive early with rocking shots to Leah’s head, but the PLP fighter responds with a flurry head shots of her own. Jennifer gets her head swatted from side to side, then Leah finds Jennifer’s jawline with some strong shots of her own. Jennifer shuddering under these blows, but manages to keep her legs up as she backpedals away. Leah follows up and keeps Jennifer on the run to the bell, though she’s not able to land enough punches to bring the older woman down. Round goes to Leah Pipes wide.
R4: Jennifer Morrison pulls it together during break and is quick to challenge Leah Pipes as the new round gets started. Jennifer striking with strong uppercuts into Leah’s belly and breasts. Leah retreats gasping for air. Jennifer tries to keep close, but Leah able to strike back with some hooks to the belly to stall Jennifer’s charge. Two fighters then pause to regroup by circling and punching, but soon enough Jennifer is ducking down and popping up with shot aimed at Leah’s chin. Leah grazed, but manages to duck away from the full force of the punches. She and Leah start jabbing in as they stand toe to toe. Leah getting the worst of this exchange and has to pull back, but then comes back battling in tight. Intense action that has crowd roaring with excitement. Leah forced back a step just as the bell rings, Judges give the close round to Jennifer Morrison.
R5: Leah now tries to re-take the initiative by a fast attack in the opening seconds of the round. Leah swinging for Jennifer’s head, but the IFFI fighter ducks away. Leah throws another left at Jennifer’s head and again she tries to duck away—BUT Leah is waiting with a right cross that she brings crashing into Jennifer’s face, catching her right between eyes! Jennifer’s head jerks back and then she stumbles landing hard on her back. Referee moves in to count as Leah goes to neutral corner. Jennifer pulls herself erect, but looks glassy-eyed and ref seems to hesitate about less this to continue. However Jennifer’s pleading assurances that she is able to go on finally convinces official to wave Leah back in. Leah quickly batters down Jennifer’s defenses and drives her along the ropes with powerful sweeping rights and lefts. Jennifer’s head being snapped around, but somehow her legs are keeping her up. Then Jennifer is trapped against turnbuckle and Leah methodically pounds the older woman from head to waist as Jennifer is helpless to bring her gloves up. THE REFEREE FORCES HIS WAY IN! THIS IS OVER! Jennifer slumps into the official’s sheltering arms as a panting, but widely grinning Leah raises both arms over head! The Winner: Leah Pipes TKO5
After: Danielle Campbell rushes out to hug her sister PLP rookie. Troian Bellisario, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish all follow. Leah clearly savoring her first win. Then Leah sees Jennifer’s been revived on her stool and she has her gloves removed so she can hurry over.
“On your feet, Jennifer, I want to celebrate my first win, and you’re the one who’ll help me do it!” Leah announces.
Jennifer sullen as Leah grabs her left arm and hauls her up. Then Jennifer steps to the right still keeping a grip on the arm. Next thing Jennifer knows she is being escorted on Leah’s first victory Walk of Shame. Jennifer not liking the hammerlock, but Leah’s grip is firm. The Walk includes a number of stops so Leah can pose for photos of fan and professional alike with her prey. Then there is the big group photo of all the PLP girls surrounding Jennifer. (Someone, possibly Janel Parrish, gives the back of Jennifer’s briefs a yank causing Jen to go up on her toes with a yelp, much laughter from the PLP’s).
This is too much for the IFFI forces at ringside. Alison Scagliotti, Emily Osment, Heather Hemmens, Anna Silk, Rosario Dawson and Joanne Kelly climb into the ring to rescue their stablemate. PLP leaders Danielle Harris and Autumn Reeser quick to intervene, ordering Leah to turn over Jennifer to the IFFI fighters who then prepare to escort Jennifer to safety. Tense moments as the two sides stand glaring at each other, but then Arena Security floods the ring to avert a brawl. (Much to the disappointment of the hopeful in the crowd).
“Maybe I got a little carried away,” Leah Pipes concedes later, “but a little Walk of Shame, some pictures, and maybe a wedgie—it’s not like I smothered her out and took her briefs as a souvenir or something.” (Leah is giving press a Naughty Girl grin at the end of this).
Jennifer Morrison more outraged than hurt after the fight complains: “She was just exploiting me! I swear, she and the rest of her PLP bullies are going to regret crossing me and the IFFI. We are not going to forget this!”
(The other members of the Innsmouth Female Fighting Institute standing supportively around Jennifer all nod in agreement).
Too bad the post-fight is somewhat overshadowing a nice first win for Leah Pipes. It was a fight she needed to win and she did, showing punching power and ring smarts. She may not have many fights in her record, but she’s clearly a good learner. Tough loss for Jennifer Morrison, but she had her moments and hopefully will be back on the winning track soon.
