TESS VALMORE
It’s time for our much maligned Lightweight and Welter rankings. I remind you Tractorpull rankings have elements that other rankings do not. First and primary is activity. A fighter to be ranked has to fight every third PPV or ninety days whichever is longer. That amounts to four fights a year. We will not permit a ranked fighter to sit on the ranking and not fight. The second is competition. A fighter who is 2-2 against top ten fighters will be ranked higher than someone who is 4-0 against class B or C fighters. We stop at ten. Those are the ones a fighter had to beat to join the elite club. I do not list the champion at one since often the champion is clearly not the best fighter in the division
LIGHTWEIGHTS
1 ODETTE YUSTMAN Finally made it to one. She got the top spot by beating Winstead. Fought on the April PPV
2 YVONNE STRAHOVSKI. Winstead made Yustman by losing to her and torpedoed Strahovski by beating her. Fought on the April PPV
3 BROOKLYN DECKER Yes she is the champ and has had two successful defenses, Fought on the April PPV
4 MARY ELIZABETH WINSTEAD Beat Yvonne and lost to Odette. She fights the best. Fought on the April PPV
5 KATY PERRY The former champ is 11 out of last 13. Fought on the April Asylum card
6 MISSY PEREGRYM Won first two fights of the year including a win over Kelly. Drew with Arterton in her last bout. Fought on the April PPV
7 KALEY CUUCO Last fought on the February PPV, Needs to fight next month or she’s gone
8 GEMMA ARTERTON Has won nine of her last eleven including a draw with Peregrym in the April PPV
9 DANIELLE RUAH She has won five of her last seven. We ranked her above Torv for one reason. She has fought better competition than Torv. Fought on the April Asylum card
10 ANNA TORV. She has won nine of her last ten against mediocre fighters at best. Don’t even mention Theron, who was a shot fighter long before they met. Last fought in February
WHO ARE NOT THERE
JENNIFER LAWRENCE Out because in inactivity. Last three bouts have been at JMDD of which she lost two
BLAKE LIVELY Out because of inactivity. Her last two bouts have been at JMDD
JESSICA BIEL Inactivity
ADRIANNE PALICKI Inactivity
RACHEL NICHOLS Had her second fight in two years in April. She won but it’s not enough to gain a ranking
There is a preponderance of Front Street fighters in the top ten. That is because the stable in heavy in lightweights and they actually fight as opposed to stable who just have lightweights
WELTERWEIGHTS
The welters looked like they were on the comeback but it was not to be. It’s not that there aren’t welters, but those that are there don’t fight. JMDD has had a negative impact on the conventional welter ranks
1 AMANDA RIGHETTI She’s the champ and usually the number one welter. Beat Moore in the April PPV
2 CASSIDY FREEMAN Beat Henstridge on the April ESPN PPV
3 GEMMA ATKINSON Pulled big upset beating Law in the April PPV. Also fights JMDD
4 LEELEE SOBIESKI Won six of her last seven including a win over Moore. Fought on the March Asylum PPV
5 KATRINA LAW Was upset by Atkinson in her first fight of the year
6 BIANCA KAJLICH Won four of her last five. Doesn’t fight often but enough to be ranked. Last fought in March
7 MANDY MOORE She has the punch. Has a losing record but she does fight and fights good talent Last fought April PPV
8 PAULA PATTON. Beat Tyra Banks in February, Has to fight on next PPV
That’s it folks because
WHO IS NOT THERE
KATE UPTON Inactivity, Nine of her last ten bouts have been at JMDD
NADIA BJORLIN Inactivity
MELINA GOVICH Inactivity
ROBYN LAWLEY Inactivity
SARAH LANCASTER Inactivity
The last three PPVs, Asylum, ESPN cards and a couple individual matches amount to 101 bouts. Of those 101 bouts only 8 were at welter. Sixteen were at lightweight, six of which were at the Asylum. Miss Ginny seems to have taken her stable to JMDD which takes out her only two good lightweights
