BEFORE: Despite working as Candice Patton's special ring advisor in recent weeks, Eva Mendes remains an active bantamweight and she looks to postpone the retirement talk by taking Latin bragging right over newcomer Roselyn Sanchez whose ommission from the FCBA universe has completely escaped the pundits' and experts-alike wrath. There's no need for extra PR work when two fiery Latin characters meet under the same roof and Roselyn vows to remove Eva from any gatekeeping future tonight and emerge as a late bloomer herself instead. That's a tall order for the otherwise confident 43 year old who's said to be in talks with the aforementioned Patton about a follow up clash in the very near future. The question remains, will there be anything left from Sanchez when Mendes is allegedly done with her? The betting odds are very one-sided for this one indeed...

Eva Mendes wears a lacy black basque top, red knickers and red gloves. Dark brown hair tied in a small bun at the back of her head. Roselyn Sanchez wears a red bikini top, white knickers and black gloves. Black hair tied in a thick braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
It feels like Roselyn's waited an eternity for this opportunity so she doesn't hang back whatsoever early in the fight; she buries Eva under a massive leather galore but precision is at premium and Mendes adjusts her footwork to make sure the older brunette drops plenty of energy along the way. It's not scheduled for three rounds but apparently Sanchez didn't get the memo as she jumps all over the ring trying to upstage the veteran only to find single hand success that hardly backs Mendes into serious defence. However the counterpunching efforts are equally worthless and Mendes still gets caught with a late hook on the eye that makes her gurgle in anger. Before she can do anything about it though, Roselyn adds a belting hook on the ribcage and slices the high guard for a quick uppercut right at the bell to probably win the round outright!

Round 2:
Confidence is the name of the game and Roselyn just oozes one in the second round looking much quicker of the two Latin chickas. This catches the audience by surprise but more importantly Eva just doesn't adapt to the circumstances and her half-hearted approach meets a shocking reality check when Sanchez nicks in to cut some skin under the left eye as she picks Mendes off repeatedly in the close range. A brief wrestling struggle follows but as Mendes shakes off her foe, she misses the initial hook and allows the older brunette to crash into her chest which immediately sends the lioness reeling back on her heels. Sanchez adds more clear punches upstairs in the final minute and allthough she's clearly not the supreme power puncher around, she easily keeps Mendes behind a tight high earmuff to plug away another solid display.

Round 3:
Roselyn is up on her feet well before the bell and bunny hops in her corner while Eva gives her a classic bytch stare all the way throughout. She needs to pick up her pace though if she's going to silence the retirement talk anytime soon; both women lock each other in a close range slugfest thereafter and for every Mendes punch, Sanchez responds likewise showing no signs of either physical or mental vulnerability. The girl's come here to box and Eva must engage the highest gear to finally break her down. It only comes after an accidental headbutt spins Roselyn back on the two minute mark but she makes the rookie mistake of waiting for the ref to react so she has no chance to embrace the left cross that nails her on the nose and sends reeling onto the ropes on the spot. Ref doesn't pull Mendes back so she can blast unanswered leather up the middle and keep the fellow Latin woman trapped and unable to fight back. She underlines her somewhat fortunate advantage by blasting clear cross hooks on the mouth and Roselyn's high guard crumbles for the first time tonight to whip her braid flying back & forth at the bell with Eva shouting at her to pump herself up. That's a telling sign for the betting favorite if she needs to find that extra confidence boost against a woman she was supposed to dominate pillar-to-post.

Round 4:
Sanchez jumps into another leather frenzy but for once gets her timing wrong and gets clobbered up the middle with a massive Mendes swings that almost makes her lose her gumshield in the proccess. Her legs hit jelly mode and only the fact Eva herself is stunned by the nature of her punch prevents the swift knockdown scenario. Sanchez enforces a blatant clinch and finds herself enough strenght to stretch it out on the ropes - even the ref has trouble of separating the two women and gives Roselyn an official warning. She barely acknowledges it because Eva is on her case moments later; the head hunting assault spins the raven braid back & forth again and Roselyn's footwork fails to meet the standards anymore. She gets clubbed back to the turnbuckle where Eva turns up some heat and belts the aching foe on the body before working to slice the high guard again. The jaw-checking uppercut route is eventually secured and Sanchez leans over the ropes amid loud spasms but she can't find any additional respite anymore and Mendes just works her over in the end; the ref has to wrestle her away from the helpless rookie and Sanchez got lucky the clock run out just in time to save her from a looming stoppage.

Round 5:
Mendes is now dancing around her slow moving opponent plucking single shots over the top to expose the below par defence; Sanchez's confidence runs out dry after that fourth round struggle and she finds nothing in the fifth either. She tries to loop some meaningful punches upstairs but the lack of fresh touch is evident and Mendes catches her on the counter sliding in with a nasty right uppercut on the jaw that makes the older brunette scream out. Eva harpoons her to the liver moments later and as Sanchez loses her balance and tries to apply a desperate clinch SHE GETS NAILED BY ANOTHER UPPERCUT ON THE JAW that renders the knees jelly... Roselyn looks up just as she's about to go down but Eva still finds one extra punch to smash the lips into tatters as well... SANCHEZ IS DOWN and she immediately clutches her chin before kicking out in frustration... yep, that's got to hurt a ton... welcome to female celebrity boxing, dear! Mendes quickly struts back to her corner and by the time Roselyn realizes the count is on, it's too late... she's up on all fours at eight but needs extra time to fight back the pain... she just doesn't get there and the ref counts her out.... Ugh! There was something left in the tank for granted but perhaps fear of a cracked jaw took over... KO5 Eva Mendes!!!

AFTER: Roselyn is furious with herself and hits the Spanish button while making gestures to the crowd. Once she calms down - and that takes her some time - she demands immediate rematch but Eva shrugs off the call and vows to send Candice Patton her way instead. "You didn'r ear your spurs tonight, bytch! You don't tell me what I should do... not until you beat me in the damn ring!". The staredown between the two Latin vixens is eventually interrupted by the security crew and despite all the mean intentions, Sanchez is just well aware of the fact she failed to walk the walk here against an otherwise supreme opponent. And she's not like 18 years old to lose her pride over a stupid little rematch just yet! More Spanish conversation follows when the camera fades away for commercials and allthough Roselyn's FCBA debut ended on a very sour note, she's due some revenue in weeks to come for granted. With or without Eva Mendes' approval!
