CABELLO/THIRLWALL This was a good bout to open the card. The bout was even at two and even at four. After Thirwall won the fourth round, she followed up hammering Cabello in the fifth. Thirwell ended the bout in the sixth with a left upside the head that left Cabello face down on the canvasThirwall
GRANDE/GRIMES This fight was almost a duplicate of the opening bout. The fight was even at the end of two, and even at the end of four with Grimes hurting Grande in the fourth. Grimes continued to hammer Grande in the fifth, Grande escaping defeat when she was saved by the bell. Grimes finished off Grande in the sixth with a pair of hooks to the jaw sent Grande down and out
VIKANDER/BOWEN Well we got a pattern here in the early bouts of the card. Once again the fight was even at the end of two and even at the end of four. Once again the fighter who won the fourth, Vikander, came back in the fifth to pound her opponent. Once again the fight ended in the sixth with Vikander KOing Bowen with a big left hook to the chin
HOUGH/KENDRICK After Hough won the first, Kendrick won rounds two and three. Hough came back to win round four. Kendrick then came on the take rounds five and six and have a good lead going into the seventh. In the seventh, Kendrick landed a left hook that sent Hough down for the count
PORTMAN/WINTER Portman took the first two rounds. Winter came back to even the bout by winning rounds three and four. Portman took the lead again in the fifth. In sixth, Winter decked Portman to go back into the lead. Winter also won round seven building on her lead. Portman managed to win round eight, but was still behind on the cards with two to go. In the ninth, Portman simply took Winter apart flooring her with a straight right. Winter managed to get to her feet, however, was an easy target for Natalie who pounder her along the ropes until the referee stepped in and stopped the bout giving Portman a TKO win
PANETTIERE/EVIGAN Evigan got off to a good start taking the first two rounds. Panettiere came back to take the lead by winning round three and decking Evigan in round four. Hayden also won round five to build her lead despite suffering an eyebrow cut. In the sixth, Evigan’s reach advantage started to take its toll. Evigan had a good seventh as Panettiere tried to fight defensively, but without much success. In the eighth, Evigan landed a powerhouse uppercut and the bout was over. I consider the result to be the first upset of the night
S. MILLER/S. CARTER This was a good action packed fight while it lasted. The bout was even at four with Miller taking rounds one and three and Carter winning round two and four. In the fifth, Miller was slow out of her cornet and Carter was all over her. She used Miller’s head for a speed bag until Miller couldn’t take anymore and went down for the count
GOMEZ/CYRUS Gomez took the early lead by taking three of the first four rounds. Cyrus evened the bout by giving Gomez a bad time in rounds five and six Gomez surged back into the lead by winning rounds seven and eight. Cyrus cut the lead down by taking round nine. Cyrus needed at least a knockdown to win the bout in the tenth. She didn’t get it and the decision went to Gomez
DOBREV/C. COLE The first five rounds were action packed and I had Dobrev slightly ahead at the end of five. Dobrev extended her lead in the sixth. Cole started a comeback in the seventh, then decked Dobrev in the eighth It was a tired Dobrev who came out for the ninth and Cole punched her into a helpless state before ending the bout with a final uppercut. Cole scores the second upset of the night
STEINFELD/SEYDOUX This was Steinfeld’s second fight of her career. She lost the first one. She lost this one also but that was expected She did better than I thought she would as she had the bout even at four. The bout didn’t go five as a savage right from Seydoux landed or target and the night was over for Steinfeld as she was counted out.
RIDLEY/DIZON The two split the first two rounds. After Dizon won the second round. it was all downhill for her. Ridley floored her in the third, followed up by taking round four and polishing off Dizon with a big uppercut in the fifth. Ridley remains undefeated
FLANAGAN/KEEGAN Another good bout with lots of action that was even at the end of two, even at the end of four and still even at the end of six. The fight swung into Keegan’s favor in round seven and she had Flanagan bleeding from her nose as the round ended. Late in the seventh a couple hooks and a left uppercut sent Flanagan down for the count
GREENE/PIPES Pipes won the first round and Greene the second. In the third Pipes had Greene hurt and ready to go but couldn’t finish. It would come back to haunt her. Greene lost round four, as she did her best to recover from the beating in round three. Greene turned the bout around in the fifth as she gave Pipes a beating. In the sixth, a right cross and left hook send Pipes down. She managed to get to her feet. only to suffer a bad beating sagging in the ropes and the bout was stopped
SWIFT/VANCAMP This was a three and half game of pitch and catch. VanCamp did the pitching and Swift the catching. I don’t know if this was a fine performance by VanCamp or a dismal performance from Swift who managed to last about ten minutes before she was counted out.
CANALIS/MARAN If you believe in moral victories, I don’t, this was one for Maran. She lasted past the fifth round for the first time in her short career which doesn’t promise to be long. Actually Maran was decked in the fifth and was ready to go when she was saved by the bell. As the sixth began, it was only a matter of time. A short period of time. A left-right combo to the head did the job and Maran was counted out again
PIKE/J. CARPENTER Pike got off to a great start winning the first round. Unfortunately that was her high point of the bout. After that is was all Carpenter. By the end of the fourth, Carpenter had Pike in poor shape due some good body work. In the fifth, Carpenter went head hunting with success and landed a right cross to the chin that put Pike down and out
ALEXANDER/E. GONZALEZ After four aggressive rounds I had the fight even. In the fifth Alexander had a big piece of luck when a wild uppercut landed. Gonzalez was badly hurt but managed to finish the round. She hadn’t recovered at the beginning of six and fell victim to a Alexander right cross that put her down for the count
BIEL/J. KELLY This was Biel’s first fight of the year I think she looked a little on the rusty side although I admit she was facing a pretty good lightweight. The fight was even at four, but in the fifth, the bout swung in Biel’s favor. She tried to end it in he sixth but couldn’t. That was not true in the seventh, when Biel got Kelly trapped against the ropes and unloaded until Kelly went down and was counted out
SOBIESKI/PATTON Patton got off to a great start hurting Sobieski in the first and having her in bad shape as the round ended. She continured getting the better of Sobieski in the second and third. Leelee finally got on the cards by coming out on top in the fourth and further cut Patton’s lead in the fifth. Patton was having the better of it in the sixth when a big right from Leelee sent Paula to the canvas. She managed to get to her feet only to be smeared along the ropes and the fight was stopped giving Leelee a TKO5
HUDGENS/HALE The third and biggest upset of the night. Hale is the new flyweight champion It was one of the better fights of the night if not the best. Hudgens built a good lead through four but by the end of round six the lead was gone. Hudgens took the lead again in the seventh, but in the eighth Hale decked the champ and took the lead back. Hudgens basically gave away the ninth by running and put herself in a big hole. Hudgens would need a knockout to win in the tenth. It didn’t happen and the decision went to Hale
DECKER/LIVELY Another title changes hands. To me, it wasn’t an upset as I predicted this would happen. Lively had the lead at the end of three but Decker evened the score in the fourth. In the fifth, a huge Decker left hook send Lively down to the canvas. It looked like the fight was over but the bell rang and saved Lively. Lively managed to come out for the sixth and ran the whole round trying to recover. Recover she did, as she hurt Decker in the seventh. In the eighth Lively staggered Decker with a right and then plowed another right straight on Decker’s jaw and Decker went down and was unable to beat the count. Lively is the new champ
