(Front Street Japan vs Free Agent)

Intro:

Reon Kadena was so close to winning the bantamweight title off the current champ Una Healy that most pundits had actually thought she'd won back in February.

A rematch in Tokyo had proven a disaster as she'd gotten knocked out and bloodied badly that she was said to be in shock for a whole month, not even wanting to train.

But she's back now with a fight the Front Street Japan crew picked as a first tune-up in what they hoped would be a way to get her back into title contention for next year.

Amii Grove on the other hand is loving the attention she's receiving, she's unmanaged surprisingly when you consider the former page 3 girl should be able to walk into that stable with her record.

But it's always been rumoured that she'd feuded with too many of the stable members to be allowed in.

So this is her chance to get some name credit by beating a former two time title challenger.

Not Much is said at the press conference due to Reon not being able to speak English, so a picture has to speak a thousand words.

Boy does it as the two opponents stand nose to nose with smiles of confidence on each woman's face.

There's not much drama in the build up other than the Front street Japan stable holding a training camp to try and prove that Kadena is back to her full game after that last defeat.

Fight night and Reon comes out first wearing a white sports bra and shorts with red gloves and shoes, her hair in a ponytail

She looks in good shape as she shadows boxes in her corner with her trainer Hamada shouting out instructions in Japanese for her fighter.

Out comes Amii now, she's wearing simple blue gear as she points down the ramp at Kadena in the ring and shouts to the crowd "it's my time!"

She jogs to the ring and climbs through the ropes to equal cheers to what Kadena did.

Grove is all smiles as the final instructions are being read out to the women, while Kadena looks deadly serious.

The glove touch is friendly enough as this is not a grudge match but both see this as a fight they need to win badly for different reasons.

10 rounds of bantamweight action in Amsterdam starts now.

Round 1:

Reon comes out fast; trying to create a statement with a quick knock out as she closes the distance.

But Amii is happy to see an on rushing Reon who she ducks and waives with ease out the way of wild punches that show a lack of focus from the Asian girl.

Sinking her jab to the unguarded face of Kadena has the Asian warrior make more desperate attacks to finish this early.

Her corners shouting for her to stick to the plan, which certainly wasn't to fight like a mad woman.

It gets so bad that Amii ducks under a mad hook and lands an uppercut that sends Reon to her behind.

Kadena shakes her head and almost jumps up straight away to show she's not hurt but you can see that she was shocked to be down.

The ref holds her back as she's screaming in Japanese at Amii, maybe it's thankful that most like a very small amount of people can understand Reon and what's like a dirty worded rant at Amii.

The ref gives her a standing 8 count which doesn't help matters of temper as Amii smiles in a neutral corner, waiting to get back at this girl.

The round continues much to the same vein as Reon seems to be focused on proving a point and not on the fact she's fighting a dangerous opponent.

At the bell, Amii almost skips back to her corner as Hamada shouts at Reon and pushes her down to her stool as the two exchange a difference of opinion on what to do.

But whatever Hamada says half way through the rant seems to get Reon's attention as her head goes down, then she lifts it up to nod her understanding.

Round 2:

This time Reon is much more slow to come out and fight, not rushing in head long into the fight as quickly.

She's starting to show that dangerous boxing ability that she has by dancing around Amii on her toes and throwing the jab before a follow up.

But Amii continues to prove to be a harder pick then either Reon or Front Street Japan thought of with her own counter punching when Kadena gets to close.

Grove even takes the front foot to try and force Reon into a mistake as the two start exchanging punches.

That's before Reon makes a retreat, whether because she has to or Hamada wants her to use her boxing skills more than just standing and trading punches.

Reon does manage to land a hard straight/left cross combo near the end of the round to remind Amii that she's got knock out power.

Which makes Amii back off a little to the bell, where Amii nods her respect to Reon who is still giving her the death stare as she can't lose this bout.

Round 3:

Amii changes her own tactics early as this is becoming a game of rock, paper, scissors tactically.

So Grove now is the one trying to shove Kadena back to stop her movement and do some damage either in a corner or on the ropes.

All the while she's taking some meaty jabs but it's working as she backs her opponent to the ropes to lay some hard hooks around the guard to the head of Kadena.

Reon's head is getting shook up as she's forced to clinch and inside she has to hate to admit that Amii can punch a bit herself.

Getting separated; Reon is back to circling as Amii takes the punches on her gloves to seek that close range attack again.

Reon just doesn't seem happy at the moment as she parries another charge by Amii and Georgie Thompson wonders "does she feel she has to hold back per Hamadas instructions or is Amii proving to be that difficult?"

Again Kadena gets backed up, this time into a neutral corner where Amii again is throwing hooks to the head to try and end this.

Reon is trying to play a version of peek-a-boo as she moves her head to try and block as much as of the hook as she can then throw out a stiff jab to try and push Amii back.

The bell rings to end the round with both women's faces reddening up.

Round 4:

Again Amii is roughing up Reon who seems to decide to fight fire with fire and stands to trade.

The crowd is shouting loudly for the two fighters as punches fly and the two are trying their best to take as little punishment as possible.

A howl can be heard between the two and it becomes obvious why as Reon dances backwards and blood is coming trickling slowly from a cut to the left side of her cheek.

Amii chases her down and gets catch in a clinch as Reon looks to the sky and seems to want to shout why is this happening again?

Maybe her minds went back to the Healy rematch where she was busted open badly as she looks scared by the not so bad cut.

Amii of course is trying to open it up to really hurt her rival but has to wait till the ref forcibly breaks them apart.

Back she goes at Reon who continues to move backwards as quickly as she can but a hard hook to that wound knocks her down again.

The crowd look stunned as the massive favourite was Reon who is looking at the canvas on her side, not racing up this time.

Her corner can be heard screaming for her to get up as she looks up at Amii in a neutral corner.

The ref is up to 6 as she starts pushing herself up to beat the count at 8, she's checked over as she nods that she wants to continue.

Amii tries to get straight at Reon who is seems to be all there balance wise but Georgie wonders if she really is mentally in this fight.

The bell rings with Reon looking at her corner for answers and Hamada shouting at her again, trying to coax her to fight harder.

Round 5:

Amii is back on the charge as she can smell blood in the water and this is going to be her biggest meal she's had as a boxer.

Reon much more defensively is holding her gloves high to protect that cut so Amii thuds blows to the body to try to lower he gloves to land the finishing touch.

The Front street Japan corner are growing more angry, making you wonder if Hamada will charge into the ring and fight Amii herself to show Reon how to fight.

Reon does start coming out her shell somewhat as she knows that she can't allow herself to keep getting punished to the body without fighting back.

The more she's landing clean shots as Amii is trying to land her own seems to be refilling the fragile confidence of Kadena.

Especially as she starts landing more body shots to Grove whose fitness has to be in question with her lack of management and the fact she last fought two years ago.

Amii is groaning but is now able to get some punches to that cut, which is steadily getting worse as the fight goes on.

Reon seems to have finally found the target to hurt Amii though as she continues to land straights and hooks when she can to the body of Grove who can be heard moaning more loudly after each punch.

The bell rings with Amii breathing harder now while that cut is bleeding more quickly now, which her corner gets to work on to patch up.

Round 6:

Slowly Kadena is becoming the stronger fighter as Amii is getting more punishment to the ribs and is slowing down on her own attacks.

She's still able to force the Asian woman to the ropes to land thudding hooks to the body herself but when Reon is clinching up now, she's making sure to keep her right free to land short hooks to the body.

The ref shouts "break" to which Kadena surprises everyone by shoving Amii then landing two hooks to the head of her opponent who looks jelly legged.

A punch across the lips of Amii cruelly puts her down to her side and now Grove spits blood on the canvas from a cut lip, as Reon waves her to get up and fight.

It's like another woman has come into the ring now, as Kadena seems fired up again to get at her rival.

Amii is up at 8 and happily wades back into Reon who meets her in the centre of the ring in a tired but fierce exchange of punches.

Amii has to clinch up and the two fighters are trying to wrestle each other into a better position.

The ref tries to pull them apart as they thud punches into the others body and face to try and force them into submission.

The bell rings with the two women still trying to force the other down, seconds pull them apart

Round 7:

Amii is breathing hard now and Reon certainly isn't going to let her have a breather as she throws everything she has to the spent Grove.

Kadena is throwing bombs early to take out her rival whose head is being knocked around and the ref is watching as this late surge off the Asian is badly hurting her opponent.

After almost 30 seconds of punishment; Grove gets knocked to her back with a black eye forming around her left, her lips are bleeding down her chin and she looks exhausted.

The ref counts but as he reaches 7 and sees that Amii isn't getting up, he calls for the bell.

Winner: Reon Kadena KO Round 7

After:

Hamada rushes in to pat Reon on the back and appears to give her praise in their native tongue.

But Kadena doesn't look happy as her gloves are being taken off after a routine fight became anything but.

Amii is helped part way to her feet till Reon after getting her gloves taken off rushes to grab her by the hair and drag her back to the canvas.

The referee and seconds are in shock as she basically throws Amii back down to the canvas.

Then she mounts her and shouts down at her rival, Amii just looks up in shock as Reon is looking pissed off.

She starts slapping Amii's face as she continues to shout down at her.

A translator would later reveal to Georgie and the BBU team that Reon was shouting "you ####ing Bytch! Trying to show me up! I'll teach you!"

Seconds finally drag her off as she tries to stamp down on Amii and even Hamada looks stunned at the aggression her fighters showing.

After Kadena is dragged out the ring to boos from the crowd.

Amii is helped to her feet as the crowd cheer her for giving Reon a run for her money early.

But as Georgie states "she didn't have the fittest levels to end the fight or go into the longer stretch, it begs the question though, has Reon really gotten over her loss after tonights performance?"

For Amii she appears to have a new fan base which can't hurt her ability to find management in future or at least get fights.
