BBU PRESENTS "THIS IS GLAMOUR FLYWEIGHT DISPUTE"

(from Barclays Center, New York, USA)

Ever since an online fantasy bout between these two up and coming flyweights gave Banghard the edge in polling, spokespeople for both girls had talked up the chances of a fight between them taking place. Taunts from Banghard that Hall was running scared seemed to have at least some basis in fact. Any potential barrier to the fight was unexpectedly removed, however, by the surprise signing of Banghard by the TIG stable. Once the deal had gone through, it was only a matter of when the fight would take place. In order to market both of the girls outside of the UK, TIG stable management managed to secure the Barclays Center, New York. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds. Hall enters the ring in an all black set of brassiere, panties and gloves, whilst Banghard is decked out in all white.

Round 1: Sounds like a pro-Hall crowd in Brooklyn. Hall right out with a hook that touches Banghard. Banghard starting to really charge about a minute into the fight, and Hall clips her with a counter uppercut. Banghard trying to bull her opponent by rushing her repeatedly, though Hall is boxing smart and making her miss for the most part. Good overhand right from Hall. Banghard perhaps expending a lot of energy without results.

Round 2: Aggressive boxing here from both girls. Hall's hook has been her main weapon, landing that punch really nicely. Banghard with a much better round here, though, her aggression is working more for her and she's been able to trap Hall a little better, including a period against the ropes to end the round.

Round 3: Banghard's attempts to smother and her pure physicality are giving Hall some real problems right now, but Hall is still doing some decent work at range, too. She wants to get her jab going, but she's having a hard time doing that. Banghard strays a bit low with a body shot. Banghard continues to dig away, but Hall nails her with a couple of clean power shots off the ropes at the end of the round. Banghard stays up and the round ends!

Round 4: Banghard landing some stiff jabs here. Hall trying to find something at range, but Banghard giving her a different look this round, jabbing at distance with her. Hall slips a couple shots and then pops her with a counter left. Another counter hook lands for Hall. FIREFIGHT AT CENTER RING AND HALL DRILLS HER WITH A HOOK! BANGHARD HANGS ON! Hall going after her but Banghard holds again! 1-2 from Hall! Banghard also cut at the corner of her left eye. Banghard swings a wild right, Hall does, too, both miss.

Round 5: Banghard trying to get back to what was working earlier. Floyd Mayweather tweets that he thinks the shot at the end of round 3 changed the fight, and I think he may be right. Some body work from Banghard, but Hall hanging in. And with 1:20 left, we've got another firefight! Banghard landing a couple of good shots, Hall fighting back off the ropes. Banghard getting a little dirty, because, well, she needs to, and if the referee isn't going to stop it, then why stop? More crazy arms and flailing. Hall with a good shot there, but Banghard ties her up again.

Round 6: Banghard and Hall both putting a lot into this fight, and that's what we were all hoping to see. It's not a WOW! CLASSIC! Fight of the Year type of thing, but it's good energy, good pace, good fighting. Nothing is dragging.

Round 7: Banghard continuing to try to maul Hall, but Hall hacking and slashing her way through some of it. Banghard slips with about a minute left in the round, referee calls it right. BIG right hand from Banghard! Extremely close round. Hall got her jab working a bit, Banghard went to the body.

Round 8: Banghard's body work bothering Hall a good bit. She's trying not to show it, but she doesn't like it. Hall's jab disappearing again. Banghard is just a bulldozer in this fight. HARD left hook from Hall, though. But Banghard ties her up, then gets back to work.

Round 9: Banghard still trying to bully, but Hall cracks her with a couple good counters halfway into the round, and she's got the control at the moment, it seems. But this fight has twisted and turned a lot. Banghard still banging away, but Hall drills her with a big shot off balance, and Banghard TURNS IT AROUND AND THEY'RE THROWING IN THE CORNER! WOW!

Round 10: Another good uppercut from Hall. Banghard again trying to mug her to close the fight. This is just a hell of a battle all around. The referee has done a great job letting them fight through all of this, too. We've got a close round in a close fight.

After: After the final bell, both girls raise their hands in victory. They both then walk around the ring in opposite directions, somehow managing to avoid bumping into one another, as they acknowledge their fans. The totting up of the scores seems to be taking longer than expected, and it is Hall who looks more nervous. She can be seen mouthing to Denise van Outen, “Did I win?” Maria Ozawa, who was in a commentary box, thinks Banghard has edged it, whilst Jessica Jane Clement thinks Hall had just done enough.

Result: Kelly Hall beats Lacey Banghard with a unanimous decision.
