Before:  “Well I’ve had a couple of fights with Amanda, (referring to Amanda Righetti) and I’ve been a winner for one of them so this is the other mountain one has to climb to earn their bones as a welter.  I’m not sure why we haven’t met before tonight.  Maybe it’s because I’m an indie who knows but this is my chance to complete a rarity at this level, beating both of the Big Rs, Righetti and Regan.  I’m sure they’re sick of hearing their names together so much but there isn’t any other real ways to judge yourself at this weight class than how you’ve done against these two.  I’m planning on being on the positive side of this judgment at the end of this fight.  If I’m good enough tonight then I’m sure that I’ll be good enough to fight the other Godzilla in this division, this time for the title.”  Paula Patton states with conviction.

“Godzilla!  Godzilla?  Paula, I don’t have scales for skin, do I?”  Bridgy Regs asks with tongue in cheek drawing laughter from the gaggle of reporters.  “Really, let me tell you a little story.  When I was first getting going in this league I caught a fight that really impressed me.  This one girl was in her second or third fight, very new to the scene too, while the other fighter had a few more fights under her belt.  I watched this girl in her second or third fight take apart the other girl and basically leave her for dead after just one round.  Pure demolition.  Pure aggression, strength raw ability, you name it.  I don’t mind saying that it was intimidating.  That raging fury belonged to Paula Patton that night.  So if any of you out there think that I’m going to step off the pedal at all tonight you’re sadly mistaken because I have way too much respect for this girl.”  Regan’s story pays a huge compliment to Paula Patton.

Paula Patton looking striking in a coral bikini with black gloves and calf boots, her hair with product looks slick and wet and hanging loose.  Bridget Regan wearing a Bazz black bikini, boots and gloves, her hair pulled tight into a ponytail.

Rd  1 Both girls in incredible shape.  Some in the crowd commenting that the fight looks more like a fitness model competition.  Regan straight forward looking to test Paula early, to see if she can handle the pressure.  She’s throwing her trademark jabs, the ones that make loud thudding noises when they land.  Patton like a pool of liquid mercury poured out of a test tube.  She’s smooth and damn near untouchable at the outset moving around the ring with incredible dexterity.  She’s able to duck Regan’s opening bombs and snake her way inside and land a couple of quick jabs and a right hook.  Regan keeps up with her straight ahead strategy hoping to overpower Paula with a punch and slow her down.  Patton ducking out of the way with agility and dodging any real damage from Regan’s power while being able to get a couple of her own shots inside.  She lands a jab to Regan’s forehead and finishes up with a right hand to the kidney.  Bridgy Regs looking a bit frustrated early unable to impose her power game on Paula.  Yet as the round moves along Bridget starts to put some leather on Paula.  The most impressive is a two punch combination that fills the arena with noise and seems to rock Patton toward the end of the round.  Still the bell sounds and it’s Paula that has come out with a very good strategy to keep Bridget guessing.

Rd  2 After a talk with Poindexter Del Crunchy, Bridget Regan’s approach is a complete reversal.  She is dancing at the fringe of Paula Patton’s range dodging and dancing, dodging and dancing.  Patton trying to dance in with her jab and right hand but as soon as she gets there she gets touched up by Bridget.  Fight quickly becomes a boxing match with superior technique on display rather than the bruising brawl that so many expected.  Paula matches Bridgy Regs’s long reach jab approach.  She’s pure liquid smooth as slick as any welter has ever been with her ability to move in and out of range while punching.  Her problem is that Regan is deceptively quick and her ability to counterpunch is extraordinary.  Everytime Paula advances now she is getting some rough treatment from the hard hitting Regan.  Still some of her punches are finding their targets so Paula continues to go after the dodging Bridgy Regs.  Toward the end of the round Patton steps in planting her left leg and throws a right hand that Bridget sidesteps and off her back foot counters with her own right hand.  She catches Paula right on the chin.  Legs tremble and Paula stumbles absorbing a shot that brings the crowd to its feet.  Regan in for the kill going straight at Patton for the first time in the round.  Paula on defcon 5 with arms up covering her face while Regan unloads as much of a barrage that she can get off before the bell rings.

Rd  3 Regan back to her straight forward approach assuming that Paula is a hurt puppy after the last round.  She moves in with several strong jabs and a right hand causing the familiar booming sounds to be heard around the arena.  Patton not intimidated or panicking.  She’s still just the picture of smooth movement around the ring.  With Regan back to her straight ahead banging Paula is able to slip through and land a right hand to her opponents ear.  Bridget stung by the powerful punch and staggers backwards away from the sultry fighter.  Paula chasing down the former champ hoping to take advantage of the pain that she has just administered.  Regan up against the ropes trying to recover from the perfectly placed punch, riding out the storm with her hands up around her head peeking out at a hard working Paula Patton.  Paula standing toe to toe with the big redhead now showing off her own powerful punching ability.  She’s leading with her jab and trying to land with her right hand at first and then just switches to slugging away at Regan who is now trapped against the ropes.  The crowd smelling a possible knockout is on its feet screaming for the upset.  After a full minute of unthinkable onslaught their hopes and dreams are dashed as Bridgy Regs manages to counter punch to Paula’s midsection and is able to land a couple of left hands before sneaking out to the left and stumble back to center ring.  Both fighters are leaning heavily on each other clinching and throwing short tired punches, Paula exhausted from her non stop offense while Bridget is just happy to be alive as the bell rings.

Rd  4 Regan moves to center ring as if she is continuing with her straight ahead strategy.  Patton delighted to take advantage.  Yet the first swing sees Regan quickly dodging out of range, step back left foot planted and land a stiff left hand to Paula’s forehead.  Bridgy Regs dancing and dodging again, feet moving, shoulders shucking back and forth as Patton gives chase using her own liquid smooth style to get into the Bazz girl.  Both girls looking good and in rhythm now.  Paula steps in cocking her body way to the right and launching a right hand to Regan’s side her own power sounding a large thud throughout the arena.  Not to be outdone, Regan skips by Paula’s defenses and lands a two punch combination that brings the crowd to its feet.  Paula on the move again gets in close slapping out a jab and following with a right hand that gets all jugalicious landing across Bridget’s chest.  Bridgy Regs immediately countering with a right hand uppercut that just nicks Patton’s chin knocking her back off of Regan.  The punching is fast and furious now.  Each fighter landing punches yet Regan’s strength and speed seem to be getting the better of Patton who is on a steady retreat under the pressure.  As the bell rings Bridgy Regs gives Paula a look just before walking back to her corner as if to say that’s how an alpha dog takes charge, get used to it.

Rd  5 Fighters moving around the ring with ease.  It’s unusual to see a couple of the biggies still this fresh this deep into the fight until you make note of who the fighters are.  Paula has been firing on all cylinders throughout the fight and she’s determined to keep it up.  She throws a right at Regan and as she had done earlier in the fight bends to the left and throws a left uppercut proving that the girl can score from just about any position.  Yet she doesn’t slip away quick enough.  Regan dodges most of the damage and returns a quick left to Patton’s exposed right side that causes Patton to wince and attempt to cover up.  Regan swipes a right hand across Paula’s face and DOWN GOES PATTON!  As quick as the snap of a finger Regan’s counter decimates Patton sending her to the canvas.  Paula up quick taking a standing eight count from the ref and using every second to try and recover from the savage left hand to the body.  Both fighters back at it.  As much as she probably wants too Patton refuses to show any effects from the previous Regan combination.  Patton taking a much more cautious route now.  She’s dancing in and out trying to land what she can while Regan dodges and scores.  Round running down with Regan starting to dominate.  She’s just too much for Patton to take on toe to toe.  Paula is in retreat mode trying to stay out of Bridgy Regs’ way.  Suddenly Paula sees an opening and steps in with her right hand.  Bridget blocks with her left and in the blink of an eye, DOWN GOES PATTON AGAIN!  Regan’s right hand comes out of nowhere catching the chin and puts down the gorgeous welter.  Regan in a neutral corner while Patton sits through the ref’s count on her fanny with her face in her hands not even attempting to get back on her feet.  The fight goes 5 ROUND KO FOR BRIDGET REGAN!

After:  Bridget is the first to get to Paula when the count is finished.  She kneels down and putting her hand on the back of Paula’s neck and leaning in so that their foreheads are touching.  They talk quietly for a moment and then they help each other up and walk back to Paula’s corner before Bridget faces the cameras.  “Wow she was tough!  I mean you can’t just go out there and push Paula around.  They talk about pound for pound fighter, pound for pound welter, on and on and on in this league well your pound for pound physically strongest woman is on the stool right over there!  And can she move!  Slick and smooth!  I wouldn’t mind taking dance lessons from her.  She got inside on me more than a few times and I had to change my whole strategy and get on my bike and move.  It’s nice to know that I’ve still got it.”  She is aksed about her conversation with Paula after the fight.  “That’s between Paula and me.  She’s a great competitor and would be a champion if she was managed.  She’s welcome to spar and work out with Bazz anytime.”  When asked about the title Bridget just smiles and states.  “Interesting how it always seems to come down to Amanda and me.”
