BBU SUNDAY NIGHT BOXING FROM BRAMALL LANE, SHEFFIELD
Posted by Vassago on August 7, 2016, 7:00 pm
BEFORE: Plenty of mutual respect before the fight and that's something Zoe Salmon's otherwise lacklustre career was deprived of almost since her BBU debut however Charlie Webster has gotten used to a neutral approach to all the fighters around the organization and she still prefers to keep it that way even now that she's stepped into the ring as an active performer. She impressively stopped Michelle Joy Phelps on her debut back in April and is judged as a betting favorite against the former Miss Northern Ireland who lost her Lioness Club roster spot after a run of terrible results. Moreover, we're in Charlie's Sheffield backyard here tonight and the entire Bramall Lane wants nothing less than to witness another winning performance from the delicious TV reporter.
Charlie Webster wears a red & white striped bikini top, black knickers and white gloves. Long brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Zoe Salmon wears a dark green bikini set and black gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1: Zoe silences the Bramall Lane early on with some aggressive jabs that snap Charlie's head far too often for comfort and perhaps the TV reporter is a little overwhelmed by the pressure to perform on home turf as she gives the blonde plenty of room to work with and Salmon - unlike her in all honesty - thrives on the opportunity to attack and pummels a sluggish foe back to the ropes where Webster finally shows some life and throws several punches from behind the guard. However most of them bounce of the Irish gloves and enable Zoe to stamp her authority on the bout as she firmly traps the local favorite under a solid aerial attack and leaves Webster fending off more power pressure in the late stages of the opening round. Even Kate Abdo sounds bemused in the booth as she doesn't hide her support to fellow BBU TV member.
Round 2: More success for the Ulster blonde who whoops Charlie straight up the middle and clips her nose a couple of times before adding another jabbing drive to the body that bends the brunette into a crisp hook on the jaw. Webster wobbles under pressure and Zoe bumps her off towards the ropes far too easily for anyone inside the Bramall Lane's liking. Urgent calls to improve the Sheffield-based offense falls on deaf ears as Zoe dictates the pace of the bout and smacks her foe between the gloves time and time again to shut Webster off completely. The brunette almost goes down under one of the piercing hooks that clubs her on the temple but she manages to hang on in a desperate clinch and Kate Abdo simply doesn't know what is going on here as Salmon emerges as the second coming of Katie Taylor when she shuts Charlie's eyes at the bell with a brutal hook on the mouth.
Round 3: Webster reloaded enters the fray in the third, the pre-fight favorite finally shakes off the nerves to slam a quick one-two combo on the blonde's cheeks and wipe the smile off her face. Salmon refuses to buckle under the initial charge though and leans on the brunette with a solid power assault that requires immediate response which leads into a classic slugging dust up much to the crowd's delight. The cheers only get louder when Webster NAILS the Ulster lass with a piercing hook on the eye and tears the skin underneath it in the proccess. "You bytch!", Zoe can't believe the instant swelling that begins to bother her down the stretch and tries to launch another intimidating attack up the middle but this time Charlie measures her approach to perfection and slips away from chaotic strikes before blasting Zoe on the wounded eye in response. The blonde finally thinks better of it and backs off but the whole of Bramall Lane is screaming for a bloody pursuit as Salmon looks very much rattled by that swollen eye. However the clock expires before Webster can add further damage to her opponent's face.
Round 4: Not much respect between these two women anymore and we're back to a slugging galore that somewhat defies Zoe's previous BBU endeavours. However if she's destined to lose her rare aggressive stance against someone as inexperienced as Charlie, she'd be better off serving as ring girl at best according to Kate Abdo. Both women rip into each other but the piercing hooks on the body alllow the blonde to have a clear edge and restore some Ulster pride that took a knock with that swollen eye in the previous round. Webster's head hunting assault suffers from lack of precision before an accidental clash of heads requires a quick look from the ref and cools things down come the final minute. Neither girl has much luck in the mid range effort and neither is brave enough to force the slugging issue before the bell anymore.
Round 5: Charlie battered Michelle Joy Phelps into exhaustion by this stage on her April debut but the otherwise partisan Bramall Lane setting doesn't provide as much comfort for the Sheffield-born reporter tonight. However Zoe needs a breather herself and that clearly indicates she's a banged up journeywoman with fitness issues according to the very much biased Kate Abdo in the booth. The tempo of the bout slows down dramatically and allthough Webster's urged to blow Salmon away, she remains very cautious in approach and shows all her inexperience when dealing with a heavy-breathing opponent. Her fight vs Phelps was fuelled by personal & professional feuding and somehow the respect she showed Salmon before the opening bell seems to be playing on her mind too much. No sign of Charlie hitting the Mr. Hyde button anytime soon and the crowd is simply stunned that Zoe remains upright at half-distance whereas Kate Abdo finally drops her moody narration and declares the former Miss Norther Ireland as a leader on points at this stage. She's probably right, mind you!
Round 6: The cheeky smile is back on Zoe's face but Charlie restores the South Yorkshire pride by finally nailing her on the wounded eye again that triggers meltdown mode in a fruitless close range execution. Salmon had breathing troubles not so long ago but now seeks instant destruction of the brunette only to bounce off her high guard and eat a quick hook on the temple instead. She wobbles back with her hands dropped by the side but screams out "You bytch!!" again just as Webster SLAMS her with a vicious scything cross on the nose and unleashes immediate blood spillage from ANOTHER wrenching injury. "Aiiii!", Zoe slumps on her knees and smears blood all over her cheeks as she tries to reboot her tactics but fails to embrace a looping follow up that catches her on both temples in quick succession AND JACK-KNIFES HER TO THE CANVAS in the proccess!!! The Bramall Lane explodes in joy like they've won the FA Cup but there's no better sight for the red & black clothed fans than to see the blonde guest gulping on her blood in the center of the ring. Zoe remains on all fours while the blood slowly but surely leaves more stains on the canvas and she only gets up at eight to nod back to the ref she NEEDS immediate medical help for the nasal injury. She's given a quick break here but the crowd is buzzing and Kate Abdo leads the chants in the booth. Charlie remains strictly business herself yet she resumes the head hunting assault to pin a clearly ailing blonde on the ropes in the dying seconds of her best round to date tonight. She runs out of time to pound Salmon into a pulp though and screams back at her in a first sign of frustration before walking back to her corner and still shaking her head in disappointement.
Round 7: Zoe's resilience has been broken by that bloody knockdown and the clock can't save her from the ineviteable demise in the seventh anymore. She looks outright spooked as Charlie chases her down and clips her a couple of times on the jaw before a driving jab at the eye makes the blonde spit out her gumshield in a time-wasting effort. The ref lectures her briefly but Charlie quickly takes care of these antics and slams a right hook on the wounded eye which dumps Zoe into a standstill. Another hook nails her on the mouth and a looping follow up on the temple SENDS SALMON ONTO HER BACK and out of contention for any sort of recovery. Kate Abdo thinks the blonde has simply had enough here and she's right. Allthough Zoe crawls back to the ropes and lifts herself up at eight she demands another medical time out and the doc accepts a signal from the ref to call the bout before the brunette breaks Salmon's nose for good. TKO7 Charlie Webster!!!
AFTER: This wasn't as impressive performance from the Sheffield lass as in her Michelle Joy Phelps debut but anything will do when you're 33 years old and embark on a late blooming boxing career. Of course the traithlon & middle distance running regime must help Charlie a lot and she indicates she will pursue further opportunities in the ring: "If Denise van Outen fights four times in six months aged 42 than who am I to question her sanity (laughs). If she can do it, so can I and well, perhaps Christine Bleakley won't be so eager to replace me in the BBU TV booth once she retires from active competition after all. Nope, I'm not looking to stir the pot here, Kate! But Frankie Lampard is doing much better this season and I think we won't see Christine back in the UK anytime soon! It's a shame really, both Holly Willoughby and Christine led the way for us reporters for so long but right now it's just fun to see Denise and me doing so well (laughs). Since Real View came on board it's very important to show them rookies how it's really done around here!"
In all the Charlie Webster interview excitement Kate Abdo somehow ignores Zoe Salmon who tries to ask the ref out in a classic Samia Ghadie soliciting attempt instead. Frankie Cocozza ain't here to satisfy the former pageant winner's needs but it's clear the frustration simply threatens to boil over inside Zoe's head really soon and she doesn't care much about her public status anymore. She beat Sarah Jayne Dunn earlier this year to justify her spot on the BBU roster but lost her Lioness Club management following a loss to Jessica Michibata. After a fumbled opportunity to knock Charlie Webster out tonight, the long-touted Ulster battle versus Christine Bleakley looms as the last throw of the dice for the otherwise pretty blonde operator. Can she survive it? The odds are stacked against her!
Final result: Charlie Webster def. Zoe Salmon TKO7.
