BEFORE:
"It's just so hard for a girl who doesn't have management in the FCBA," says Natalie with a shake of the head. "I take a fight with Mendes on about two weeks notice, lose, and everybody forgets my number. I've been working hard to get back here. And, here I am. And, tonight, I'll prove I belong."
"I actually kind of like this girl," says Allison with a nod. "Gutty. Has a lot of tools. But, I've got a bad taste in my mouth right now. And, tonight, I'm going to rinse it out."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Rain Over Me' by Pitbull you hear, and here comes the star of that video, the gorgeous Natalie Martinez!"
McCarthy: "Yawn! Here comes another Dancing Hooker opponent without an FCBA win! Where does Weirdo FIND these girls? Every month! A parade of these tomato cans! It's unbelievable!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Natalie into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a black lace bikini and a body the fans seem to like quite a bit..."
Oh, the shark, babe
Has such teeth, dear...
McCarthy: "UNBELIEVABLE! Just...I can't...He...She...I'll...I..."
Cassie: "Let me grab that fire extinguisher. I smell smoke..."
McCarthy: "Don't you DARE!"
O'Dell: "That song you hear..."
McCarthy: "IS MY SONG! She STOLE it! Weirdo STOLE it! How can this be allowed to continue????"
Tess: "Because, for the hundredth time, Wiz BOUGHT the rights to Bobby Darin's 'Mack The Knife' for Allison's use..."
McCarthy: "I. WILL. SUE!"
O'Dell: "I am going to get absolutely BLASTED tonight. But, for the moment, let's concentrate on the ring, where Allison climbs in wearing that black robe featuring the gleaming silver knife with a single drop of blood dripping from the blade. She's helped off with it by Jewel and Neve. Wearing that blood red bikini she likes."
McCarthy: "She ought to wear a potato sack!"
Tess: "Hey! That's MY line!"
O'Dell: "Aaaannnnndd, the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess favors Allison. Mac?"
McCarthy: "As you know, I refuse to pick 'Mack The Fraud'. Martinez!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Natalie wants to work forward here, has the chin tucked, gloves high. Very similar to the style we saw in her fight against Eva Mendes all those years ago. Mack wants to keep a little distance early, not usually what we see from Allison. Instead, she's looking to get the jab on and keep Martinez at bay..."
McCarthy: "It can't be a surprise to see Martinez using a similar style, but, after all this time, you kind of hand to wonder if something would change."
O'Dell: "Nothing has, at least for the moment. Natalie pressuring, Mack actually doing a little rotating now, wants to manage with the left hand, break a little bit of a sweat here before getting down to business. Martinez showing a bit more aggression as this one goes on, getting some right hands home now."
Cassie: "She's got zero to lose here, so she might as well go after Mack. And, I'm sure that's exactly why Allison is playing a bit longer game."
O'Dell: "Makes perfect sense. No question of that. Why get into a firefight in the opening round when that's all to the advantage of your opponent? Coming into the final seconds of a tactical first. Mack rotating, using the feet. Natalie wants to close up and bang, but Allison not going to allow it, and there's the bell. Martinez close."
Tess: "Not a bad round for a girl who hasn't been in an FCBA ring since George W. Bush was president."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Terms continue into the second round. Martinez wants to be the aggressor, looking to work forward with the head tucked and the gloves high. She's showing quite a bit of Allison Mack to Allison Mack at the moment, ladies, and Allison Mack is showing us something a little different, as she continues to rotate and force Natalie to use footwork..."
McCarthy: "First, STOP SAYING THAT FRAUD'S NAME! And, second, Martinez wants to fight and The Fraud is afraid to mix it up with her, which is no surprise!"
Cassie: "As I recall, she wasn't afraid to mix it up with YOU..."
Tess: "No, I seem to recall she mixed it up pretty well with Mac..."
McCarthy: "SHUT. UP. BOTH. OF. YOU!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Drink up, boys. And, to Mac's point, no doubt that Natalie's been more aggressive so far. Mack using the jab, creating space, looking to manage and slow the pace. If you didn't know better, you'd think Allison was looking to go some rounds here and get some work in, but..."
Cassie: "We DO know better, because Uncle Wiz doesn't like THAT sort of thing at all."
O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in the second. Slow, clockwise rotation with Martinez inside and Mack to the outside. Another close round here, ladies, and, perhaps some confidence being gained by the brunette as things go on. Five seconds left in the second and there's the bell. Close again. Mack."
Tess: "Even at 19 after two."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Martinez looking to turn the heat up a little bit here in the third, but Mack throwing water on that fire before it can get going. We don't see a lot of THIS version of Mack The Knife..."
McCarthy: "DON'T call her..."
O'Dell: "I am NOT going to be reduced to calling a fighter She Who Shall Not Be Named, Mac, so GET OVER IT!"
McCarthy: "Boy, are WE touchy tonight!"
O'Dell: "I'M...are you...NEVERMIND! As I was SAYING, we don't see a lot of this from Allison, as she's normally the one working forward and looking to apply the pressure, but, tonight, a little different strategy, as she's controlling with the jab, trying to use it to dictate pace. And, she's definitely having some success doing so."
Tess: "Bit of a double-edged sword, though. Because, Martinez is definitely staying right in this fight, Jenny."
O'Dell: "No doubt about it. She''s held her own through eight-plus minutes now, and continues to do so as we head into the final 30 seconds of the third. Mack working that left hand. Martinez trying to work around it, trying to square up as Allison continues to turn and force the brunette to move her feet, and there's the bell. A third close one. Martinez."
Cassie: "And, Natalie's back in the lead, 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Fourth begins with more aggression from the brunette, but the blonde now holding ground and firing back. Natalie stopped in her tracks here as Mack's no longer circling, but now standing flat-footed and opening up with the big guns. Martinez willing to engage on these terms, though, ladies..."
Tess: "This is exactly what she's been wanting..."
O'Dell: "BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR! Right hand, Mack and Martinez is wobbled! Allison sets up a nasty right cross with a solid left jab and the brunette's in some trouble. Mack forward now, driving Natalie backward. Martinez backing and covering as Mack gets off with some plenty lusty stuff..."
McCarthy: "Lucky punch! Just a lucky punch!"
O'Dell: "Mack not quite all in, but she's not exactly holding a lot back, either. She's working the brunette back to the ropes. Got her there now and she is absolutely ABUSING her body! Martinez keeping the guard high, and Mack taking all the ribs and midsection she wants. Brunette willing to take the abuse to protect the head and hang on and she makes it to the bell. Mack wide, ladies."
Cassie: "And, we're even at 38, but this fight isn't even anymore."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Mack wasting no time getting after Martinez. Natalie still wobbly and Allison pouring fire on her. Martinez trying to jab for some space, but that's not going to happen. Allison's in her grill, working body as the brunette again tries to keep the guard up to protect against an onslaught of leather from Mack..."
McCarthy: "Some of those body shots are LOW! This hometown referee has money SPILLING out of his pockets!"
O'Dell: "Not a SINGLE blow has been low, but plenty of them have been effective. Mack's beginning to bunch Martinez up now, and she's going hooks to the head as she lowers Natalie's level. This is clinical stuff from the blonde at the moment. You're seeing why she's a two-time bantamweight champion..."
Cassie: "Right now, Martinez has to be wondering why she was so excited about getting back into the FCBA..."
O'Dell: "Thirty seconds left in the fifth. Natalie to the cables again and taking heavy fire. Mack just REEFING punches at the brunette now, upstairs, down, then back up. To her credit, though, Martinez shipping them and managing to stay afloat. Ten seconds left. NASTY left hook from Mack that wobbled Martinez, but there's the bell. Natalie survives. Shutout, Mack."
Tess: "48-47, Allison, at the half. But, this thing doesn't FEEL that close."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Looking like just a matter of time for Allison now. Mack moving forward again, in that familiar quarter crouch, bringing heavy leather to bear on Natalie. Martinez still trying to get the legs back, trying to play for time as she jabs, backs, covers. But, Mack not going to give her any breathing space. Allison ALL up in Martinez's grill..."
Cassie: "Just has to be a helpless feeling in Natalie's corner. Your girl's in trouble against a finisher as good as Mack...not many ways this can come out well..."
O'Dell: "Allison continuing to back Martinez up. Natalie working to stay off the ropes. Moving to her right. Mack cuts her off, lands a solid flurry. Martinez tying up. Allison shoving her off. Natalie tying up again. Give the brunette credit. No shortage of guts in there tonight. She's competing hard..."
McCarthy: "Agreed. No quit in the kid. If not for that lucky punch..."
O'Dell: "Martinez tying up again. Again Mack shoves her off and LANDS A RIGHT HOOK AND DOWN GOES NATALIE! A vicious short right hook from Allison and Natalie puddles in at the blonde's feet. Mack to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Martinez not moving at all. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 in one-punch fashion is Allison 'Mack The Knife' Mack!"
Tess: "Made no mistake with that opening. Can't think of many bantams who would have gotten up after that punch."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Allison Mack, and, Allison, does this rinse the taste out of your mouth?"
Allison (smiling): "Definitely. This girl is tough as nails, and she came after me in there, which is what I expected, what I wanted. She wasn't beating me, but she wasn't backing down, either."
Tess: "I know another shot at the belts is on your mind..."
Allison (nodding): "Won't happen this year, but, I'm going to get back in the ring this fall and take another step toward a title shot in 2017."
