(Free Agent vs Downunder boxing)
Intro: The third bout of the card sees two women who are after the lightweight title and see each other as a massive stepping stone on the way up. Kendall Jenner had just won the New Blood lightweight tournament and had wanted to show that she is truly the real deal by picking one of the most dangerous fighters out there. Miranda Kerr has earned that accolade by beating massive names and she'd held titles in the BBU (the bantamweight and lightweight title) and the queen of the Ice hotel, all at the same time.
So the fight was set and at the press event, the girls met and politely spoke to each other but to the keen eye both were judging each other with their eyes going up and down the other. Kendall spoke first at the podium "I know, you guys are asking why would you pick Miranda as your first opponent after winning the New Blood crown?" Looking at Kerr with a smile "because look at her, she's in my opinion the best of the division and she doesn't need the title to prove it, slaying women like Brooklyn Decker speaks volumes" Miranda smiles back as she can't disagree with that can she, but she can with "I know I can beat you Miranda, this is the fight that shows that I can be the best and not you" Kerr comes up to the podium and the fighters exchange nods and a few words that don't seem hostile as neither takes offence. Speaking to the crowd, Miranda says "I have to admit I was expecting Kendall to be all mouth but she's shown me her respect and I have to be honest and say she has mine" Miranda smiles as she adds "it's true, I mean she won a tournament of some really tough hungry women and she didn't go to the bottom of the pile to add to her C.V but instead goes to the top" Going up to Kendall so the fighters are nose to nose with the microphone in hand, Miranda finishes with "but as you said, I'm the best lightweight in the world and that means me kicking your ass" The women both smirk as Miranda drops the microphone and they both pose face to face with hands on hips as they stare into opposing eyes. After a brief handshake, the women leave the stage and begin planning on how to beat the other tomorrow night.
Fight night in Paris, Kendall is out first down the runway style ramp; she is wearing a blue bra and knickers set with matching gloves. She twirls for the crowd and poses just outside the ring for last minute photos to be taken before she climbs into the ring with a cheer. But that dies down a little as out comes the Australian Miranda Kerr, she is in a stunning green bra and knickers set and her gloves match up as well. She's showing that experience down the runway style ramp to pose like the supermodel she is as cameras flash and Kendall has to admit she's somewhat jealous. Climbing into the ring, Miranda bows to the crowd before both fighters are ushered to the ring centre for the final instructions. The glove touch is respectful before both return to their corners and ready for the bell to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.
Round 1: "Ding" out come the fighters, both with a tight guard as the feeling out process begins, both fighters are looking for holes in the others defence but early on are struggling to find any. Up on their toes, they quickly are circling each other snapping the jab out and getting parried as the crowd sit silently, not bored but watching closely who is going to find that opening first. Kendall surprises some in the crowd by being the first to get through with the first hard jab and the fight quickly opens up as both women start connecting with their punches. But it's clear Kendall has taken the early advantage as she steps on the front foot to shove the powerful Aussie back with a quick jab/straight combo and adds some body punches to make Kerr retreat. Both reset somewhat as Miranda snakes forward and both exchange in tight and Kendall shows she can seemingly take the power of Kerr early on as the two fight it out. Kendall even sidesteps Miranda at one point and smacks her across the face with a hard right hook that certainly gets the attention of Kerr. The bell rings to end what had become an action packed round after an opening chess match style affair. Kendall looks proud of herself but as she reaches her corner, her second reminds her, there is a long way to go in this fight just yet.
Round 2: Miranda now knowing what she is facing is using her greater experience to start to formulate a plan of attack as she comes out her corner. Quickly the two resume the heated exchange from the end of the last round but Miranda starts digging at the body of Kendall to force her backwards and she takes the ring centre. Using her strength, she is forcing Kendall to fight on the outside and while there is some vicious exchanges, Miranda seems to be controlling the pace by forcing Kendall to retreat with some hard straights to her face. Neither woman likes being the one forced back it seems as Kendall keeps seeking to find a way to knock Miranda backwards but keeps finding a brickwall of a defence and a stiff jab or straight in her face. The crowd are edging forward slowly as the fighters keep going at each other any chance they can get but Miranda is certainly looking the better and worthy of her reputation in the ring. The bell rings and Kendall nods her respect to Miranda for being the better fighter that round as Miranda nods in thanks before they jog back to their corners.
Round 3: Miranda again tries to get to the centre of the ring but now Kendall does to the surprise of everyone as she knocks Kerr back with a hard straight that snaps the Aussies head back. As Miranda steps back and stares at Kendall hard, the Jenner sister waves her hands forward to say "come get me then" Miranda has to smile at the brashness of her opponent as she nods and unlike Kendall, the Australian is trying to work her way in. Kendall seems happy to play what's becoming a game of queen of the castle, Miranda held the ring centre before and she damn well can now she thinks. The pace slows down as Kendall stands with a tight guard and is firing stiff punches from a strong base, while Miranda tries to time her way through. But Kendall is keeping her crown in this round and is keeping Kerr back on the outside to the delight of her fans. Miranda just can't find the key as she takes another stiff shot to her nose that reels her back a step and she's getting annoyed as she didn't expect this much resistance. Kendall starts to move off her centre post as she thinks that she's hurt Miranda but is forced into another exchange before both have to clinch up for a respite from taking punishment. Kerr can be heard saying "you're a quick learner I see" to which Jenner replies "well you have to be against you, too bad I have to beat you down" Both women smile behind the others back before the ref forces the fighters apart and they hide their smiles from the other as they get serious again. Boxing basics of jab and move till the bell comes not long after and the fighters return to their corners with both enjoying this challenge of the other.
Round 4: Miranda is up on her toes and decides to try and get Kendall off her game plan as the younger woman quickly heads for the ring centre. Kerr ducks and waives around her opponent, whose busy throwing at thin air at the moment with the best punches being glancing blows. Kendall seems to be in limbo as she wonders how to change her plans to fight this but gets clobbered to the face with a hard hook that rocks her. Now she's been knocked off her spot and has to change her style on the fly, she's better being on the front foot; so this counter attacking she's been forced into is doing her no favours. Miranda looks at her supreme best as she gets on the front foot and is chopping away at the body of Kendall to force her into submission. But to Kendall's credit, she isn't shying away from this battle as she moves around the ring faster than Miranda and works her way back onto the front foot. Exchanging in close range, they quickly clinch again but this time no words are spoken as the competitive urge to dominant this other woman is growing in each as they push each other with their bodies. The ref gets between the pair and has a hard time as neither woman wants to let go till they force the other back a step and show they are the stronger woman in this fight. Finally getting them apart, he warns them to break as he says but both women are staring at the other, trying to psyche the other out. They trade till the bell where they stop and stand for a moment, trying to read the others body language, they start scowling as they need to win this fight so badly now for themselves and respect seems to be taking a back seat to pride.
Round 5: The look on both women's face is scary, charging out to each other, it becomes a pure brawl as they let loose on each other. Miranda scores the first point it seems in this round as Kendall is knocked back slightly and blood can be seen running from a cut to her lips. But she gets right back at Kerr as the crowd roars as the fight goes all over the ring, as both fighters knock each other backwards time and again. Miranda now has a cut on her left cheek trickling blood from a hard right hook that put her on the ropes. Kendall tries to dive in to finish this but is clinched up and the two nearly fall out the ring as they hang through the middle rope and the crowd get worried someone is going to get badly hurt. The ref helps both women up but as they stand up, they shove each other away and wave each other to fight. They can't keep the pace up all the round and clinch more safely this time near the ropes, cheeks touching as they take a breather. Kendall whispers "just go down and stay down" to which Miranda replies in equal hushed tone "that's what I was going to say to you babe" The ref pulls them apart but the action slows to single punch exchanges till the bell, where the crowd roar and a round of applause is heard around the arena. But as both fighters sit down, they shut their eyes and let their seconds clean up their bloody and puffy faces for the next round, while some doubt grows in both fighters minds if they can beat this woman.
Round 6: Both women are starting to bruise up nicely and as they come out for the round, neither at first looks like they want a repeat of the last round. But as the square up, Kendall surprises everyone again with a vicious right hook that wobbles Miranda enough to force her to retreat. For the first time this fight; Miranda actually looks somewhat scared of Kendall as the younger girl just keeps coming for her and she has to use all her experience to get out of the way of an attacking Kendall and wrap her up in a clinch. Kendall doesn't seem to fight the clinch, which has Miranda wondering how much is really in the tank of the Jenner sister, as her opponent didn't have a fight as intense as this in the New Blood tournament. As they are separated, Kendall is on the attack again and Miranda can't fight back under the barrage of punches flashing in front of her. All she can do is parry as much as she can but she's getting clipped to the cut on her left cheek and more blood is running from it as Miranda can be seem wincing. She wraps up Kendall again to slow this girl down and the two almost stumble again but manage to keep their feet under them before digging to each others body with short sharp punches with their right hands. Pulled apart, Miranda tries to get back at Kendall but that jab to her is making her back up and at the bell she looks upset with herself for being controlled so easily by a girl she's expected to beat. Kendall looks happy but is trying to keep her arms loose as they are starting to feel heavy due to the amount of leather she is throwing to try and win this.
Round 7: Kendall is back in the front foot again but Miranda is starting to fight back now with some hard exchanges creeping back into the fight. Both women nearly clash heads as they both come forward at the same time and they clinch once again. The ref is certainly earning his paycheck tonight as he separates the two by force once again and Kendall comes back the quicker to knock Miranda back several steps again. Kendall's youth is seemingly placing the fight into her court as she still has some spring in her legs but she's not landing a telling blow yet as Kerr keeps her guard tight under another barrage of punches. Another punch to that cut and the ref orders a stop in the action for the doctor to check it as Miranda winces each time it's touched but she says she can fight on and the doctor let's her. Kendall puts her glove out to show respect for Miranda not giving up and after a quick swipe of gloves, they go back at each other. Kendall again is doing all the real work in this round but she knows she needs to strike through this tough guard in front of her and she doesn't have the experience it seems to do that. The bell rings with Kerr knocked to the ropes but seeming as fine as she could be after 7 gruelling rounds of action. Kendall is starting to show tiredness as blood drips off her cut bottom lip down her chin and the two fighters look each other up and down like they did the first day they met and they can't believe the other is still fighting as hard as they are, they go back to their corners and let themselves slump against their corners to recover.
Round 8: Kendall is still the aggressor, even feeling her arms starting to feel heavy, she is desperate to win this and she is going to give her all to do it. Both exchange again but Kendall shoves Miranda back and knocks her further back with a hard straight that rocks Kerr's head back. Blood is running down that cheek once again but Miranda won't quit as she keeps herself tight and compact behind her guard. Kendall is swinging punches around that guard but getting caught on those lips with hard counter punches. Half way through the round and Jenner looks pleadingly at Miranda to go down and stay down so she can win, Miranda isn't going to go down under a gaze. With less than a minute to go disaster strikes for Kendall, she's caught to the chin with a hard uppercut as she left herself open trying to finish Kerr off. Down goes Kendall to her back and she's looking up at the ceiling with tears about to start flowing, Miranda goes to a neutral corner and rests against the turnbuckles as she hopes this is it. The ref is over Kendall and is up to 5 before Jenner turns over to her side and begins to push herself up to her feet. She makes it at 9 and apart from a slight wobble, she is ready to fight, how much is for show we are going to find out as the ref orders fight and Miranda attempts to go for the kill. As she charges in, Kendall latches onto her and the two tired warrior's nearly fall into a corner and the ref is over to check both are OK. Both nod as they are pulled apart but Kendall seems to be wishing the round was over now and luckily for her the bell rings. Again both slump into their corners, eyes closed as their corners use every trick they know to try and keep both fighters awake and get them in good enough shape to fight the last two rounds.
Round 9: Kendall is desperate and is almost runs at Miranda to try and knock her out as she shoves Kerr to the ropes and the Aussie is on the ropes, taking a beating. The ref is in close but as Kendall's punches slow down, Miranda is able to fight back and slams a hard straight to the nose of Jenner. A cut on the bridge of the nose of Kendall is the latest set back and it gets worse as Miranda pounds her back to the ring centre and cracks her across the chin with a hard left hook. Kendall goes down to her side and Miranda in her exhaustion, nearly stumbles over on top of her opponent before managing to get to a corner. The ref starts counting but Kendall is out cold and he waves the fight is over before first aiders have to rush in once again tonight to revive a K.O'd fighter.
Winner: Miranda Kerr KO Round 9
After: Miranda looks relieved to have won such a hard contest as her seconds help her back to her stool to clean her face, her left cheek is covered in blood from that cut and they clean it up and the rest of her. Kendall is still out and it takes a few moments to wake her up, as she does wake up, she looks like she's taken a long nap as she looks up and at first doesn't realise what happened. Then as it dawns on her, she starts crying as the weight of this defeat hits her and after she had fought so well against a top contender. Kendall is helped to her stool and is cleaned up as Miranda comes over after she's been worked on with help from her second and kneels down in front of Kendall to offer her words of encouragement. The two fighters share tears as they touch foreheads and Miranda can be heard saying "you're going to be a star babe I know it" The touching moment ends as Kendall is helped by her seconds to the back to run further tests on her after her knock out. While Miranda stands in the ring centre and waves to each side of the arena as a loud round of applause fills the arena to show their respect for her and that fight. Miranda heads up the ramp with help from her second and starts wondering "what would the cheer be like back home if I won the FCBA title?" And a grin forms on her facing thinking about that.
