BBU TURF MOOR SPECIAL
Posted by Vassago on September 18, 2016, 9:22 am
BEFORE: The Clarets are playing away at champions Leicester this weekend so Turf Moor is free to host a special one-off international contest featuring a familiar Canadian BBU returnee. Emmanuelle Vaugier is the lady in question and most of the casual fans might be surprised to learn that she battled Laura Pausini into a gruesome ten round decision victory back in August 2012 which was her official BBU debut.
However BBU TV's Georgie Thompson is keen to explain just why Vaugier has made the unexpected choice to venture back to Europe tonight. She was cut from the Odds & Ends Fight Studio in June of last year and hasn't fought since. Apparently she's deemed 'too old' to make an impact on the American scene these days but BBU is happy to offer her a fighting ticket especially with Team Canada stable present on the UK market. Vaugier accepted the call and immediately vowed to join the Amanda Tapping-run squad and dethrone Alaina Huffman from the lightweight leadership role. This should lead into future tension among the proud Canadians but for now Vaugier needs to deal with former Coronation Street actress and Burnley's very own Natalie Gumede.
Gumede suffered a double-header loss to lingerie model Sara Sampaio back in March which exposed her against the younger opposition. It's natural she turns her attentions to someone older than her now - Emmanuelle's eight years her senior - and hopes to thrive on the Canadian's lack of activity during the past twenty months. The support of the partisan Turf Moor crowd can only help her cause but Vaugier' vast FCBA experience might neglect all of that within the opening couple of rounds.
Natalie Gumede wears a claret & blue basque top, black hotpants and red gloves. Curly dark brown hair loose. Emmanuelle Vaugier wears a red basque top, white knickers and white gloves with a red maple leaf painted on them. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1: Natalie was ultra aggressive against Sampaio earlier this season and tries to deploy a similar tactics against the Canadian veteran early on. The Burnley crowd expects Vaugier to be a little rusty and allthough the older brunette wants to stick to the mid-range stance, Gumede's frontal attack leaves her exposed plenty as she soaks up the aerial attack to cover up behind a tight earmuff. Natalie leans on the front (right) left and channels the southpaw drill; there's every chance Emmanuelle failed to spot her opponent's left-handed attire yet the sheer ammount of workload seems to do the trick and reels the older actress back to the ropes where Gumede can blast extra pressure to the body and keep Vaugier stacked for most of the round. A couple of nifty hooks connect with the local favorite's face but it's just not enough to stop Natalie from further success as she slams a late flurry on the ribcage and has Emmanuelle gasping for air in a shocking turns of her events all things considered.
Round 2: More pressure from Gumede coming; she squares up to the slow moving Canadian and scythes her across the mouth before adding more leather to the body. Vaugier clearly lacks the ring fitness at this stage of the bout and wobbles into a quick uppercut combo but thankfully blocks it off in time and whips a slant hook on the nose that knocks Gumede off her aggressive plan briefly. However the left-handed approach eventually tops Vaugier's close range efforts and rocks her on the temple in the second minute which restores the Lancashire supremacy. Natalie barks in her attempt to score further success in close range yet Vaugier clinches her to the the corner and survives more ribcage busting punches come the dying seconds before unloading a good uppercut on the jaw that reels Natalie away. It's not enough to win the round though and Georgie Thompson thinks that's two for two in the claret & blue.
Round 3: Natalie keeps coming forward and seems more than happy to enforce the close range stance; she's the quicker of the two again and throws another high-tempo assault at her foe however Emmanuelle finally blocks most of it off and jumps into a hectic response that tags Gumede's lips a couple of times. A right-on-right collision results in Natalie scowling in pain though and she got caught badly on the nose there. She tries to regain her southpaw stance but Vaugier bursts into her cleavage with a quick uppercut double and scythes her across the lips one more time to assume the desired mid distance position. She keeps the Burnley babe covered from there on and scores more accurate overhand punches as Natalie looks annoyed come the final minute but she doesn't risk another aggressive drive anymore and lets Vaugier hassle her around the ring instead. Georgie Thompson isn't sure that's the right mindset as it allows Emmanuelle to feed on easy prey even though the physical damage is somewhat limited.
Round 4: Emmanuelle isn't one to blow her gasket here in Burnley tonight and Natalie tries to take it easy for whatever reason as well. The tempo of the fight drops dramatically in the fourth and only some angry screams and whistles from the audience spur the local girl into another forward bit. However she fails to connect with the first punch and eats a nasty hook on the counter instead; she slumps forward when the Canadian blasts her on the mouth and meets another jaw-checking uppercut that drops her guard dangerously low... too low ever as Vaugier squeals in delight when unloading a perfect hook on the temple that spins the former Corrie actress back to the ropes. That's not what the Turf Moor expected to see but Gumede simply loses her balance alltogether and fails to react for the incoming jabbing rish. She gets stuffed into the corner come the final minute where the older brunette repeatedly picks her off with the superior reach and rallies back into contention for good. Natalie sways on jelly knees as she can't keep her guard in tact and soaks up a nasty beating that leaves her cheeks badly swollen before Vaugier signs off the pressure beat with a left hook on the nose. Oi, Natalie! The Burnley lass sinks on her knees on the spot but the bell rescues her just in time as the Canadian was lining up a monster follow up and was pulled back by the ref at the very last moment.
Round 5: Natalie shakes her head during the interval but suddenly she's outmanouvered in the ring at the start of the fifth and keeps soaking up more mid-range strikes. Even her left-handed stance provides little solace as she almost loses her footing in a frantic backpedalling effort and gets stuffed with a double uppercut combo on the breasts. She winces in pain and wobbles forward to meet another uppercut that blasts her on the jaw and sags right back into the corner again. Emmanuelle ups the tempo now and shows exactly why she booked 27 fights on the other side of the pond as she goes head-hunting and destroys Gumede's guard with a spirited drive up the middle. She rocks the fellow brunette's head back & forth in a cruel manner and poor Natalie simply can't handle it after some fifteen seconds where she barely raises her arms in protection but still gets ROASTED wholesale. Epic disaster for the partisan Lancashire crowd but it's all Vaugier in the second minute... AND THE CANADIAN WRENCHES THE HOME FAVORITE TO THE CANVAS with one uppercut combo too many... Gumede's chin slumps between her shoulders and she goes crashing down on her backside just past the two minute mark... Ugh! It's a heavy knockdown for the former Corrie babe and she takes the full eight count before getting up... she still looks soft out there and Emmanuelle means business regardless... She catches the younger woman cold with another jabbing drive that meets little resistance... the red gloves go by the wayside and Vaugier hauls in the juice... she carves deep cuts in Gumede's face battering her into a classic standstill in the corner... no chance for the bell-saving trick again and Natalie's eyes eventually bawl out to the orbit while the Canadian works her over in the corner with room to spare... twenty seconds left on the clock and it's all over for the Burnley faithful... GUMEDE SLIDES DOWN ON HER KNEES with eyes closed and collapses face-down at her tormentor's feet. No need for the count, folks! KO5 Emmanuelle Vaugier!!!
AFTER: Epic disaster for the Lancashire fanbase as the recurring Canadian veteran has literally pounded Natalie Gumede out of her senses! And all this after such a promising start from the local actress. Georgie Thompson admits that Vaugier's experience was simply too much for someone coming off a vicious double loss like Gumede and the predicted fitness problems weren't an issue for the Vancouver-born brunette after all. Gumede simply didn't punish her enough during that opening couple of rounds and had nothing to give once the Canadian leather started to fly around Turf Moor.
Natalie's imminient future remains unknown but she's failed to secure the biggest scalp of her career - in front of her home crowd no less - and once she regains her whereabouts, she's simply stunned by the number of cuts Vaugier inflicted on her. That's one swollen Burnley babe out there and no wonder Gumede exits the ring stage left as quickly as possible. She should be thankful that Vaugier has bigger fishes to fry this coming season... apparently Alaina Huffman wrecked Amanda Tapping's office when she learned that Team Canada ponders signing the fellow Vancouver actress and couldn't get in touch with psychio Brandy Ledford either. Emmanuelle famously ended Ledford's active boxing career back in 2010 yet it seems like nobody in Team Canada seems to care about it anymore... Blasphemy!
Georgie Thompson doesn't conduct a post-fight interview this time but promises the viewers she'll ask Emmanuelle for a lenghty exclusive BBU TV piece later this month. The conclusion of Vaugier's FCBA career spells bad news to the European-based fighters and the tensions might rise in more places than just Team Canada's office down the stretch!
Final result: Emmanuelle Vaugier def. Natalie Gumede KO5.
