(Girls Friday vs The Bondi Babes)
Intro: Catherine Tyldesley is the next girl up for the Girls Friday stable as she takes on The Bondi Babes Sophie Falkiner in a tune up for the Coronation Street actress. Catherine like her stable mate Joan Smalls is still in the BBU welterweight tournament after her win against Danielle Miller to set up a fight with tournament favourite Jourdan Dunn in the quarter finals. Before in her next bout she dismantled rival Sabrina Washington in destructive style as the future hall of famer was blasted to kingdom come. Sophie on the other hand made her debut against Tamsin Egerton, who would go on to batter her mercilessly for two rounds before being put out her misery. The fact it's the just turned 33 last week Catherine against the 42 year old Sophie, people are safely in their minds putting their money towards a Catherine win. But she is 3 inches smaller in height so Sophie may have a slight chance that nobody is taking into account unless she truly is as bad as her debut showed.
At the press event; the fighters met face to face to give the crowd a first glance at the different builds of the fighters, with Catherine shorter but the bulker looking, while Sophie is tall but thinner. A tentative hand shake was exchanged as neither fighter knew how the other was going to act so they couldn't judge whether to hate the opposition or like them. The one thing they definitely knew was that they were going to win in their own minds, even as they looked up and down the other woman to make key mental notes. Both were led to their seats as the media were briefed on this fight, Catherine was then allowed to the podium to speak her mind. "God I have missed these moments, standing here in front of you guys and being able to be myself, especially when it comes to matters of kicking ass" says Catherine as the journalists chuckle slightly at her. Catherine continues "look I have nothing against this girl but I hope she knows that she is here for said ass kicking before I go on to fight that lanky skank Jourdan Dunn in the welterweight title tournament" Sophie can be seen staring hard at Catherine but not showing much emotion, she does play poker so she has honed her poker face over the years but she has to be burning inside. "I will try to give you great fans a showcase as don't expect a long fight when I step into that ring on Sunday" finishes Catherine as she stands hands on hips towards Sophie with a cocky grin and a come try it look. Sophie is happy to oblige as she steps up to Catherine and the two women go nose to nose as things look intense, the media wait with baited breath for something to happen. But both women disengage when prompted by their managers and instead just bump shoulders as they pass each other. Sophie now gets her chance to let rip as she starts with "who does this little fat bytch thing she is! I have seen tougher girls in my street then you and they're school kids" Catherine unlike Sophie has no poker face as her face turns red and she has to be held back by Melanie Sykes before she makes any rash decisions. Sophie turns to face Catherine and stare directly into her eyes "jokes aside, I know you have beaten many fighters but we Australian's are not so easy to build, I will go toe to toe with you and I will smash you up little woman" Sophie walks up to Catherine and security gets between the two as the shouting match begins and Tyldesey especially is trying to get around to get at her rival. Both are urged to calm down, they do after some more name calling before they each walk off stage in different directions in a huff.
Fight night in Sydney, Catherine comes out first with Melanie Sykes and Eva Carneiro by her side, she stares into the crowd, who are booing her as they have her fellow Girls Friday stablemates. She looks slightly nervous in this setting as she says something to Melanie, who seems to shake her head before saying something that gets a smile from the blonde. Entering the ring, Catherine shows off that she is wearing a red one piece swimsuit that is supposed to be Baywatch like, with her jugs she could possibly pass for a young Pamela Anderson from a distance, she completes the look with red gloves and boots. Out comes Sophie with her coach pro boxer Lauren Eagle, Sophie looks calm and collected after her destruction at the hands of Tasmin and the pressure of getting a win on home soil. She starts to walk down the ramp, high five-ing audience members as her radiant smile appears to give her fans some hope after the losses the Australian fighters have suffered over the two weeks. Entering the ring, Sophie is in wearing a blue one piece swimsuit, gloves and boots for her attire and her hair is flowing behind her back. Both lionesses square up at the ring centre, nose to nose as teeth can be shown as the referee gets between the girls. Finishing his instructions, insults are flying around him from the two fighters, who are wanting a piece of the other soon. Asked to touch gloves, they quickly swipe gloves before jogging back to their corners for any last instructions from their coaches and to get their gumshields in. The referee looks at his watch to make sure they are on time and calls for the bell, starting 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1: Out come the fighters and Sophie definitely has a game plan, using her jab, she's trying to keep the range between the two fighters to maximum as she evidently doesn't believe she can win a slugfest with the stockier blonde. Catherine is surprising slow to come on the attack and what was supposed to be a simple tune up is quickly becoming a real pain for the Brit. Sophie looks happy to do this all night as her fit legs are doing enough when coupled with the jab to make this a mostly relaxing round. While Catherine is trying to get into her own range but when she is being chopped to the nose with a jab, she is holding back. Maybe with a bigger fight coming up against Jourdan Dunn, she is too worried about taken damage, when she should be working hard to end this early. The quiet round ends with the crowd cheering a proud Sophie, while Melanie looks like she is going to tear Catherine apart for such a bad round. But Catherine doesn't look bothered at all as she looks at Mel and just shakes her head when she is being shouted at.
Round 2: Out they come again and this time Catherine looks to be working harder to lessen the range between herself and the 3 inches taller fighter. Sophie calmly is throwing her stiff jab but Catherine starts to duck each shot till she gets to the inside, where she starts to land her pounding body shots. The crowd look ready to give up on Sophie before she shoves Catherine down to all fours and they think she's knocked down her rival. They are upset when the referee warns Sophie to not push, while he warns Catherine to keep her head up as she was looking ready to tackle her opponent over. The ref resumes and surprising Sophie keeps the distance by working in several other punches to keep Catherine guessing. A particularly hard straight busts the nose of Catherine and we look in for an upset as the crowd start believing that their girl can do it. Sophie knocks Catherine to the ropes with another straight to the cut in the bridge of the English girls nose and stands square to land around the guard of Tyldesey with some hard hooks. The smaller fighter gets her way off the ropes with an overhand right and Catherine looks the stronger off the ropes as she works in close due to Sophie closing the distance. The bell rings before she can do major damage but the warning shots have been fired from both fighters and Catherine looks the one in real pain from that cut.
Round 3: Sophie is looking to make that nose worse to hopefully stop this fight now but it seems to have finally woken up Catherine. The smaller blonde is moving faster now and is getting withing her range to land those brutal body blows to the lanky Aussie. Sophie is trying to slug her way free from this body mauling but she's trying to knock the stronger fighter backwards and that is not happening. In desperation, Sophie lands two hard straights to each jug of Catherine that nearly cause a wardrobe malfunction, luckily for Catherine it doesn't. But sadly for Sophie, all she's done is piss off her rival, who goes all out to knock her out and Falkiner is too inexperienced to use that against her. Instead she is being pounded to the ropes and has to clinch up to stop getting beaten. Catherine is nearly wrestling Sophie through the ropes onto the judges desk, that's how blind with rage she is as it takes the referee to pull her off her opponent and let them reset. Again Catherine is on Sophie in a flash and down goes the Australian! A cracking right hook to her jaw has her laying on her side. The crowd go silent again as all hope they had for the upset seems gone till Sophie somehow gets up at 8 to a moderate cheer. Catherine nearly starts before the referee has ordered the fighters to fight again, which gets her a warning and Sophie a breather. Sophie manages to do enough to keep the rampaging Catherine off of her till the bell rings and the ref is again holding Tyldesey back.
Round 4: Sophie is retreating, hoping that Catherine will tire herself out with the chase it seems but Sophie hasn't the speed to keep away from a laser focused Catherine. The English fighter cracks a hook across the bust of Sophie, getting a pained scream from the Aussie as we get treated to a JMD style slugfest. But Sophie hasn't the power to keep Catherine off her and soon Tyldesey is on her in close range and ripping away to the body again, it's not long till Sophie is on her hands and knees sucking in air. The ref begins his count but it becomes clear as Sophie stares up through pained eyes at Catherine, that her fighting spirit is gone. Sophie stays down for the count as Lauren urges her to stand but she knows her fighter is outgunned tonight and isn't shocked when the referee counts to 10.
Winner: Catherine Tyldesley KO Round 4
After: Catherine goes over to Sophie and starts to shout at her "what a f***ing coward you are! All that talk for nothing" She spits on the back on the still down on all fours Sophie, Lauren has had enough as she storms into the ring to get into the face of the winner. The two women are nose to nose before Lauren shoves Catherine onto her ass, showing why you don't mess with a girl like Lauren. Catherine looks embarrassed as her cheeks blush a deep shade of red as at least the crowd can have a laugh. She is about to get back in Lauren's face as the pro looks ready to take the gloves off Sophie and beat Catherine up in the ring. But Melanie is quickly in to stop them as she apologizes to Lauren and offers to help Sophie up herself, while Eva is nearly wrestling with the bigger Catherine to stop her making a mistake. Luckily for her Catherine does calm down, as she doesn't exactly enjoy rolling around the canvas with her friend in a bad mood. Lauren turns and helps Sophie out of the ring as surprisingly her name is the one being changed, instead of the girls involved in the actual fight. Melanie gives Catherine a talking down for her actions but the blonde doesn't look interested as she stares past Mel to Sophie. Finally they do leave to loud booing as Catherine has to bite her lip to stop herself making a comment she'll regret at a later time. In the back, Lauren bumps into Taryn Terrell, who helps her friend with Sophie to get her to the Bondi locker room. Taryn is heard to be apologizing to Lauren, who seems calmer herself and is heard to say "that big bytch should be saying sorry, not you darling, she disrespected Sophie and I won't stand for that"
Catherine was supposed to do a statement as the winner for the media but Melanie Sykes does it as evidently they don't trust the mindset Tyldesey is in to not say something to offend anyone else. "We are Girls Friday would like to start by saying sorry to Sophie and Lauren for the actions of Catherine, in the ring it can get heated between fighters but that gave her no recourse to do what she did" says Melanie with her best statesman like voice she can do. "Catherine is sorry for her actions and hopes that there is no ill feeling between herself and the Bondi Babes" finishes Melanie as the journalists want further comments but she leaves before anything else can be asked. Getting to the locker room, journalists can hear shouting between Melanie and Catherine as the headlines may not be the most favourable to Catherine or the Girls Friday stable as a whole tomorrow.
