BEFORE: Allthough Paula Patton has lost four of her last five bouts, she refuses to follow a light schedule: "I've started out late and don't have much time to become as successful as Gena Lee Nolin in this league. We've never fought before so this is a perfect opportunity to remind everyone about my welter elite prospects. Because contrary to some of the pundits' opinions, beating Gena Lee still means a LOT in all the boxing gyms around the country!"

Indeed, the former Baywatch babe comes off a couple of vital wins over highly-ranked Jeri Ryan and Milena Govich and believes she still has one genuine title push in her: "I like Paula a lot. She came here late but won a lot of praise after her Upset Of The Year over Amanda Righetti. I'm tired of hearing all these comments about being a dirty fighter. I have my own style and that's something that eludes 99% of women in this league. They want me gone but I'm not going anywhere and knocking out Paula Patton will silence a lot of critics, that's a promise!"

Round 1:
This match-up was thought to be all about offense as Gena's made a career out of bullying her opponents from the word go however she gets a taste of her own medicine early as Patton's high-octane start catches many people inside the Staples Center by surprise. The head hunting assault finds plenty of exposed space as Gena's a tall and lanky operator but not exactly a ducking expert anymore at age 44. Meanwhile Paula's channels her superior agility to a great extent and hops around the taller blonde firing upstairs through the middle and making the older woman groan in frustration. Gena swings at the temples several times but fails to secure that big connection and has to yield real estate come the final minute when the ammount of Patton's clean shots hitting the target becomes a little worrying for such an early part of the fight. Still, Nolin lands the final punch of the otherwise one-sided round but merely makes the fellow actress laugh at her lack of production.

Round 2:
You don't laugh at Gena Lee Nolin so much in this league and Paula learns to regret her cocky approach towards the end of the opener because the Minnesota native cracks the hardest shot of the lot to trigger a monster leather barrage in the second round. Even Paula's suprerior footwork isn't enough to avoid all the rushin attempts to blow her to the orbit on the spot and Gena really means evil business as she barks with every strike landing through Patton's stirred guard. The younger actress ducks underneath some of the aerial barrage but fails to make her midsection shots count and has to back off from the close range heat looking very much spooked rather than outright respectful to her opponent. Nolin can't quite steer her shots in mid distance despite a superior reach because Paula's agility regains it's boffo and allows her to avoid more damage with the blonde looking all fired up and ready to land that trademark haymaker KO shot any second now.

Round 3:
Patton refuses to hang back in the third which is admireable but turns out downright foolish when the blonde rattles her with a heavy left/right combo that finds the temples and rocks the younger actress towards the turnbuckle. Paula sags on her heels and doesn't escape in time from the precarious position so Nolin has a field day in the second minute blasting through the high guard and leaving first visible bruises on her rival's face. Patton tries to make something happen but it's so difficult when Gena Lee Nolin has you trapped in such a place so the response only grazes the blonde's flesh while the steady jabbing rush connects with the rack to sink Patton even further amid increasing yelping volume. Nolin controls the situation wholesale and seems to thrive on dissecting Patton's guard before a low hook nails the embattled woman on the waist line. Gena grins over at the ref but the shot was borderline legal and Paula's happy enough to avoid a knockdown so she doesn't complain about it as well.

Round 4:
Nolin remains on top and pulls further ahead through another steady jabbing rush in close range. Patton's footwork goes MIA and there's little doubt she's been rattled badly by that previous round aside from riding a cold streak lately that probably affects her confidence too. Thankfully, she avoids getting trapped in the corner again but spends most of the round in constant retreat which only fuels the blonde's anger and determination to knock her out. She openly teases Paula to drop the cowardly tactics and swings dangerously close to the temples several times but Patton sticks to her seeing out game plan even if it means she basically forfeits this round and earns herself a staunch disapproval from the Staples Center audience.

Round 5:
The Minnesota girl eyes another swift domination and reckons she's spooked Paula beyond any serious threat of recovery so approaches the struggling brunette with another wide grin on her face only to be NAILED by a vicious cross from the left that is quickly followed by a sharp uppercut to the jaw! Ugh! Gena gets stacked on her heels on the spot and pays a heavy price for letting her guard down (literally) just this once. Patton suddenly bursts into a leather frenzy thumping high-octane leather into the blonde's rack and that simply has to hurt even the most durable welter fighters. Nolin leans forward and slumps against the brunette's shoulder but Patton seethes in her ear: "Want some more, bytch" before pounding away at the torso and pushing the vulnerable foe back to the ropes where she maintains the upper-hand and punishes the solar plexus with a couple of hooking stingers. Gena tries to catch her breath back but is subdued at the ropes and can only vanish behind a tight high earmuff in the dying seconds with Patton harrassing her midsection from both flanks and rallying into a complete recovery according to ESPN's Erin Andrews!

Round 6:
"You're gonna pay for that, bytch!", Nolin is furious about that previous round struggle and vows to resume the blonde domination plan but Patton ducks underneath the aerial swinging and BURSTS into the taller girl's breasts before hooking up with the solar plexus weak spot that simply wobbles Gena forward with her eyes wide open in a state of complete shock. Look out, trouble! Paula hauls in the HAMMER PUNCH on the jaw that chops the blonde down on her face sooner than you can spell Gena's full name... Booyah, who loves you daddy? The Staples Center errupts in joy as the proud Minnesota woman is decked flat on her face and the L.A. born Patton displays raw welterweight power! It's a slow recovery for Nolin, she's otherwise too durable to be removed from the ring in one-punch fashion but she look extremely woozy after beating the count at eight. Forget her trademark bullying tactics as Patton hands her the beating the Staples Center had been waiting for all night. She clubs the vulnerable blonde all over shop and hooks up with that pretty face to leave a deep gash under the left eye but more imortantly, she renders the older woman into a shrieking mess and there's nothing coming back from Nolin by this stage; she sags on the ropes with eyes closed and mumbles her demise just as Patton rips through the mouth and makes the gumshield slide down Gena's breasts. THE REF HALTS THE BARRAGE and pulls Paula off her prey at the last moment but perhaps he was too concerned about the blonde's well-being since Patton was still on course to deliver more punishment. Safety comes first though. TKO6 Paula Patton!!!

AFTER: The partisan Staples Center crowd got to witness two of their home town girls in supreme form here tonight. First Odette Yustman broke Dakota Johnson mentally as well as physically and now Paula Patton has voiced herself back in the divisional Top 10 with a come-from-behind stoppage of one of the most feared women in America! Gena Lee Nolin was supposed to have the bigger punch but she got caught with one herself and since we're camped north side of 130 lbs, one must be looking at Robyn Lawley to withstand that sort of punishment. Well, add the usual "R & R" suspects to the list too... Whatever the truth, it's been a very good night for the Los Angeles boxing fanbase, even better than the Rams' return to City of Angels! Erin Andrews can personally vouch for that since she was on the Memorial Coliseum sidelines when the Rams upset the 'Hawks the other week...
