Before: Bitter split and subsequent feud garnering even tabloid interest in the Enquirer, Star, et al send reporters to cover the fight. Twain essentially talking through Neve to her former manager/promoter, idea being that Campbell will be harmed as an abject lesson—that’s she only getting this fight because Shania wants to make a point, so on and so forth. For her part, Campbell’s never had effective management before, languishing in other girls’ gyms, paying her dues as sparring partner for the likes of Jennie Garth and Yasmine Bleeth, She enters the ring the bigger, heavier girl, but Twain’s consummate boxing ability a big equalizer. Neve in royal blue spaghetti strap sports bra, matching aerobics bottoms, Shania in black push up, red aerobics bottoms.
During R1: Neve out quickly, showing no signs of intimidation, and laying a stiff jab down much to Twain’s surprise. Twain circling clockwise, keeps her distance, but is actually getting drilled to the forehead as Campbell walks he down, Whenever Shania gets close to the ropes, Neve steps in with a hook/right hand to the waist, causing the smaller woman to wince, and Twain is on the run early. Midway through the round, Neve gives a nice shoulder feint, inducing Shania into her defensive crouch early, and Campbell comes up in the middle with the right uppercut on the face. Twain stunned, sits up pretty for Neve’s crashing left hook—Shania’s face warps as her head wobbles loose upon the neck. The capping right hand on the ear flattens Shania’s head against her shoulder, and Twain drops to the canvas starched straight, hands up by her ears as she right leg twitches rapidly. Savage KO1 Neve Campbell.
After: Crows roaring with shock and delight—nobody more stunned than Campbell who can’t take her eyes off the shattered body of her foe. Neve using her size and hitting power to good advantage, pounding out the victory before Twain could get into rhythm. Promotion takes a bath as Shania had contracted to do a concert after beating Neve to a pulp—many patrons successfully petition to get their money back.
