Celebrity Boxing After Dark: The CW Edition
Candice Patton ("The Flash") vs Lyndsy Fonseca ("Nikita")
(2-0-0, 2 KO vs 8-9, 5 KO)
Results: Lookout! / Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Candice Patton still enjoys The CW stardom after her show was renewed for the third season and is back on air this October. With several of the alleged A-listers leaving the channel's order of merit - to name Nina Dobrev as a stand out - the 28 year old is ready to make the ultimate leap into the contenders' level over in boxing as well. She arrives in the ring with none other than Eva Mendes working as her personal coach which sparks immediate rumours and somewhat overshadows the presence of the woman in the opposite side of the ring.

That woman happens to be Lyndsy Fonseca, the former Nikita star and another member of the past CW roll of honor. She never quite made it all the way to the top but she's determined to extend her boxing career against the fellow free agent here tonight. Her last win dates back to September 2014 versus the much-maligned Alesha Dixon and Michelle Joy Phelps who handles the introductions points out this might be one of the last - if not THE last - opportunity for the Oakland girl to avoid a skid to the bantamweight irrelevance. The days when Fonseca stopped Nina Dobrev's jugs on the beach seem like a distant memory now.

Candice Patton wears a red bikini set with silver trim and black gloves. Long black pulled back into a sleek ponytail. Lyndsy Fonseca wears a light blue bikini set and yellow gloves. Wet shoulder lenght brown hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Lyndsy wants it more early as she channels her superior experience against the talented but otherwise raw Candice; a nifty hook around the elbows catches the younger actress off guard before a steady jabbing attack downstairs reels her back and allows Fonseca to dig extra leather. Candice swings over the top but gets bumped into the ropes regardless as she simply fails to connect with the fellow brunette's head and quickly gets wrapped up in more point-blank range trouble. Lyndsy rides the early advantage and buries her rival under more accurate strikes to secure the crowd's approval but she doesn't have that big punch in her and has to rely on sheer ammount of pressure. Thankfully Patton's covered up wholesale as she fails to escape Fonseca's heat and gives up any effort to salvage the opener which earns her an earful from Eva Mendes during the interval.

Round 2:
Fonseca keeps her foot on the gas and buries Patton under more close range leather only to misfire on the crucial put away hook on the temple and allow 'The Flash' heroine to wrap her into a lenghty clinch instead. Both girls wrestle for supremacy for a while before another gut-checking hook enables Lyndsy to break free and beat Patton for another quick hook on the mouth. Candice realizes she's up for her biggest challenge yet however she bounces off the Oakland girl's high guard too often to make any progress during the remainder of the round. In the meantime Fonseca steals more crowd delight with a fancy footwork display to track the younger brunette back to the ropes where she applies more body striking and shuts a hapless looking Patton out for good.

Round 3:
Eva Mendes' coaching skills are called into question but she only comes up with a seeing out plan for the third which clearly isn't Patton's cup of tea. The opening minute action is stalled thanks to Candice obeying the orders but when Lyndsy calls her out as "Candy chicken", all hell breaks loose and allows the younger actress to bang in some meaningful leather over the top. Fonseca's head snaps backwards several times but due to the early advantage, the Oakland girl shows a lot of courage and responds in a similar fashion to crash in Patton's mouth with several juicy punches. Candice's legs buckle visibly but she refuses to yield real estate and digs into the fellow brunette's guts to finally reel her back. Lyndsy winced badly when that seemingly wayward hook pierced her liver area and Eva Mendes is too experienced to miss that. Fonseca spends the rest of the round dancing around on her toes but there's some light at the end of the tunnel for Patton now.

Round 4:
Candice becomes too predictable in stalking Lyndsy's midriff while not showing enough agility to avoid the older girl's jabbing rush aimed at the body too. A hectic phone booth-like exchange dominates the action but both girls almost clash heads a couple of times and the ref needs to step in to keep it under control. Michelle Joy Phelps thinks these two simply lack core power to blow the other one with a single punch... drive even but one shouldn't expect too much from a mere bantamweight ranking affair. Fonseca seeks that career-boosting victory though and keeps coming forward until she gets stuffed to the breadbasket late as Candice secures a fortunate strike and moves up to clip the older brunette's chest and chin before blasting her across the nose right at the bell for her biggest punch of the entire round.

Round 5:
Lyndsy seeks more body damage but gets caught with a quick hook to the jaw and Candice cashes in with more facial shots that disrupt the familiar script. Fonseca's head snaps back & forth again but she simply refuses to respect the manner of her opponent's attack and leans forward to soak up a nasty uppercut on the chin that really makes her think better of it. However as she retreats to the ropes, Candice reaches out for the body again and wrecks havoc against the ribcage during the second minute. Fonseca gets pinned onto the ropes thereafter and just can't punch herself out of trouble as Patton trounces her to the guts repeatedly before signing off with a switch upstairs that exposes the leaky guard and nails the California brunette straight on the chin.

Round 6:
The fight is slipping through Fonseca's mitts now so she charges at her opponent with another feisty sweep however 'The Flash' heroine channels some bendy moves to avoid any strong connection and counter over the top to cut a nasty gash under the left eye that visibly affects Lyndsy. "U bytch!", the California girl is heckuva upset when she realizes that she's been cut up but as she rushes forward, she basically walks into a cross hooking frenzy with Patton raising the stakes on the fly. She powers ahead to the older brunette's mouth and just sways Lyndsy's head back & forth which exposes the high guard even more soundly than the previous body attack. Fonseca gets wrapped into a close range nightmare as Candice hauls an entire series from point-blank range to add more cuts on that otherwise so pretty face. LYNDSY IS HURT!!! She's pummelled into a standstill and her footwork is all gone under the Mississippi-led barrage... and Candice wants more as she works half-uppercuts to the torso come the final half-minute and just grinds the aching spasms from Lyndsy's mouth... just not enough time on the clock to finish it all off right here which indicates that Candice's power punching won't take the division by storm but at the bell Fonseca is barely able to breathe and spits out her gumshield in sheer frustration.

Round 7:
Lyndsy needs more time to recover from that difficult round and her below-par punching resistance comes back to haunt her one more time.. Candice doesn't have the meanest punch in the division but offers a strong cardio upside and just keeps plugging along like she's ready to fight for two hours more. She digs into Fonseca's midriff straight off the bat as the California actress just wanted to protect her bruised face from more cuts but misjudged her foe's approach badly. Subsequently Patton just RIPS through her guts and meets no resistance whatsoever. The aching Lyndsy gets stuck on her heels and slumps forward against Candice's torso when the romping drive wears out her resilience for good. "Don't stop, Don't stop!!", one-off coach Mendes shouts at the Mississippi actress but there's no stopping Patton here anymore regardless... she batters the stomach into a mush which pulls the plug on the Oakland's fintest... DOWN GOES FONSECA... just sliding onto her knees with eyes bawling out to the back of her head in a sign of complete exhaustion... "I can't...", she mumbles to herself before rolling face-down at her opponent's feet. "Damn right, you can't!", Candice barks in anger and threatens to pin her to the canvas with her foot but the ref keeps it within the rules and wrestles her back to Eva Mendes. The count is slow but Fonseca simply can't find any gas in the tank after that come-from-behind trucking. KO7 Candice Patton!!!

AFTER: This performance ought to keep 'The Flash' ratings high enough for everyone to notice. The CW crew flies under the radar and faces a life-long battle to win approval from the FCBA pundits but Candice Patton knows it best while talking to Michelle Joy Phelps: "Yeah, we get no love for our results. Real love, I mean! They wait for us to stumble! Lucy Hale is like the most underrated champion of the past 10 years and one must be as deliciously obnoxious as Lowndes or as pretty as Dobrev to elbows those Hollywood A-listers aside (...) Yeah, I started out slow again... but I'm like the cardio master... just wait and see... one of these days I'm gonna maul a former champ into exhaustion and people will be wondering where the hell did I come from. Jackson, Mississippi, that's your answer! (...) No, it's no coincidence Eva Mendes has my back for the third time now. She's been written off by Valmore & those guys ages ago. Ever heard of Neve Campbell? Who says an active fighter can't ponder her coaching future? (...) My next target? Ahh... that's a surprise! You don't really want to know what a CW free agent like me has under the sleeve, do you? But I can rule out the PPVs for now. I leave that to those managed wannabes who think they only serve free agents as cannon fodder! Not on my watch!"

Final result: Candice Patton def. Lyndsy Fonseca KO7.
