Melanie Sykes Retirement Fight #3

(Girls Friday vs Marti's Maulers)

Intro:
We are in the half way stage of Melanie Sykes retirement tour as it hits Swansea, Wales and specifically the Liberty Stadium.
This time she is fighting Tamzin Outhwaite and there is rumours of a hidden rivalry between the two over the years that both have denied furiously.
They are not best friends though as shown at the press conference on the pitch of the stadium this fight would be held on that night.
Both women in their best bikinis, Melanie in a red devil looking number as she is missing the horns to complete the look.
While Tamzin is in a black number and looks a match for most women with her own washboard abs.

The fighters weigh in at very similar weighs and as Melanie leaves the scale, Tamzin is in her face before Mel shoves her and we get a cougar fight as both tear at the others hair.
Security manages to pry the two apart as Melanie can be heard asking "what the hell was that for?" To her future opponent.

Tamzin doesn't answer right away but as they are asked for a statement, she gives them her answer "I respected Mel, but she shot off to Australia for a month and left me in limbo last month"

Looking across at an upset Mel, she adds "you told me to come here to fight and I prepared for a week in Swansea but you told me before the fight that you had to fly off, bull! You could have fought me and let Harry do everything himself."

Melanie interjects "have you met Harry, I love the guy as a friend and he is a good boss but he hasn't the connections I do, I had to make sure things went as smoothly as they could"

Her opponent just shakes her head as Outhwaite replies "rubbish, if you are afraid to fight me just admit it, you have for the past two decades bytch"
Melanie has had enough and tries to get at Tamzin but is held back as each screams insults at the other, till they are led away off the pitch to the lockers.
Fight night, out comes Melanie in a red robe with the hood up over her head, she jogs down to the ring with Catherine Tyldesey by her side as her coach for tonight.

Climbing into the ring to a good sized cheer, Melanie pulls her hood off and shows off her braided hair and cherry red lipstick as she blows a kiss to the crowd.
Catherine helps take off the robe to reveal that Mel is wearing a red sports bra, red trunks and red shoes, she gets red gloves put on as Tamzin arrives on the top of the entrance way.

Tamzin has a blue robe on as she makes her way down, her hair also braided and she has pink lipstick on.
Sara Cox comes out with her stablemate as her second for tonight and helps Tamzin with her robe, taking it off to reveal a blue sports bra, trunks and shoes, before placing blue gloves on her hands.

To the ring centre go both fighters, each staring hard into the others eyes before they go head to head and can be heard insulting each other.
The referee gives each a small shove to separate them, asking for a glove touch, both bang their gloves together to show their strength more then out of respect.
Each returns to their corner to get their gumshields in, the referee signals for the bell to be rung to begin 10 rounds of welterweight boxing action.

Round 1:
Off we go with both fighters bouncing lightly on their toes, neither rushing to just slug it out, instead they jab at each others guards, seeking a way to unlock those guards.
While Melanie has fought a lot more, it is actually Tamzin who picks up the pace first by coming forward and fainting a jab before going downstairs to the body to land two crisp body shots.
Melanie quickly scores with a jab to stop any more advancement from Tamzin on her and ducks a right hook just over her head to land a follow up to the body herself.
Each takes a step back as they circle and reassess their tactics as they measure themselves up to the other before they exchange several punches before retreating once again.
Neither can work out how to get at the other without getting hurt themselves as this time Melanie tries the faint but Tamzin is wise to her own tactics and lands a straight to make Mel miss with her own straight.
But on the next exchange Mel lands two quick thrown punches over the gloves of the blonde as she tries to get back to the body.
Each is really starting to get annoyed as they can't make any leeway and in the final minute, just go at it hammer and tongs till the bell rings.
As it sounds the end of the round, both fighters step back and glare at each other with unhidden malice, then they go back to their corners with their minds in a reflective process on what they must do to win.

Round 2:
Tamzin tries to quicken the pace once again, throwing faints and bobbing and weaving her way around Melanie, who is trying to stand more flatter and throw more power in her punches.
The blondes tactics seem to have given her the winning strategy as she connects more cleanly to the body of the brunette, trying to wear her out.
But Melanie is landing some good shots to the head of Tamzin as her regular work and training seems to have sharpened some of her skills up.
Tamzin won't be stopped so easily and ends up pressing Melanie to the ropes, with both girls cracking each other with some hard shots to the delight of the crowd.
Melanie is getting the worse of it as she is groaning with each punch to her abs but finally connects with a good straight and right hook to the head of her opponent to get herself off the ropes and into some clean air once again.
Tamzin tries to stalk Melanie but the brunette won't show she is scared, striking forward at the low head of the blonde and the two collide body to body, each just swinging in a scruffy phone box style.
After a over thirty seconds of that, they clinch up, though they keep one hand free to work on the kidney area of the other and the referee has to step in to separate the two.
Tamzin on the break lands a crisp double jab to Melanie's face before ducking another wild right to slam a right to the left jug.
Groaning again, Melanie's eyes look deadly as she stares at Tamzin for the cheap shot and tries to get revenge quickly.
But her punches are not as accurate down to her temper and her opponent is picking her off with the better shots till the bell.
The referee has to hold Mel back as she keeps trying to get at Tamzin, who just stalks back to her own corner, excited to have had a clearer round in her favour then the first round.
Melanie does go back to her corner with Catherine calming her down by reminding her that this is her night, not that bytches as she puts it.

Round 3:
Tamzin against starts off the quicker as her confidence is flowing compared to the pissed off Melanie, each throws some hard shots but it is the blonde who is connecting in the early going g with the better punches.
A cracking straight connects to an unbalanced Melanie from a missed punch and down goes the brunette to her behind to the shock of several in the stadium.
Melanie shakes her head to say she isn't hurt as Tamzin just stares at her, preying she gets up so she can hurt her.
The referee is up to 7 before Melanie quickly stands up at 8 to a cheer from the crowd, she is checked over and her gloves are cleaned before she is allowed to continue.
Tamzin tries to get right at Mel but it seems Sykes wasn't lying about how hurt she was, cracking Outhwaite across her lips to stun her.
Quickly she shoves the blonde back with some hard punches up and down her for and now down goes Tamzin to a loud roar from the crowd, what a turnaround!
Blood trickles from the cut lips of Tamzin, who wipes her right glove across her mouth to see the blood on her blue gloves before both girls eyes meet once more.
Tamzin beats the count at 8 and her gloves are cleaned like Melanie's before and the fight continues with Mel now trying to drive her way forwards.
Both girls just lace into each other for over a minute before they have to clinch up to take a breather, each fighter shoves at the other to show dominance.
The referee pulls them apart and Melanie this time comes off the blocks quickly to land another punch across those bloody lips to get a stifled scream from her opponent.
"Ding" goes the bell not long after with both girls still going at it and the referee dives in between to separate the two warriors from each other.
This stare down is the most intense of the fight as all the emotions of both are fuelling them to want to just go over and kick the others ass right now.
Instead they have to return to their corners, all marked up to get fixed up by their seconds.

Round 4:
Each fighter is in each others face with some hard exchanges taking place between the two, Tamzin seems to have refocused though after her set back at the end of a very tight round.
She ducks several shots to work the body as she presses Melanie back towards the ropes and if not for some good foot work from Sykes, she'd probably be stuck on the ropes with a shark like Outhwaite at her.
Instead she gets some clear space to work her jab in for the first real time in the fight as both seem to have accepted that they can not just try to bowl each other over.
Now it's Mel taking this part if the round as that jab is stinging the face of Tamzin, who is ducking but can't escape all the punches thrown at her.
It's a slightly slower tempo with Melanie controlling the pace now, not letting Tamzin get to her body if she can help it.
But she can't as she misses a stiff straight and gets caught to her ribs this time, backing away as she is hurt for the first real time of this fight.
Tamzin is quick to make up the space and slugs two more hard hooks to the body of Melanie, who manages to clinch up.
Two fit fighters now trying to press each other to the ropes as they snarl at each other and have to hold back the urge to rip the gloves off to go at it without any protection.
The referee shoves both apart but it's not long till the predator like blonde is back after her prey and Melanie has to counter punch to stop her from ending this now.
In fact Tamzin looks confused as she eats some mean shots over her guard after she has been parried with her own shots.
She is questioning if Melanie is truly hurt and now she slows right down to measure her for instead of going for the kill.
Melanie looks relieved as she fires in single punches to keep her opponent off of her and the bell rings, she hides a sigh of relief from Tamzin, who has her eyes keenly on her, still in thinking mode on if she made a mistake.
Sara Cox thinks so as she shouts "why didn't you finish it? She was hurt you dope, I would have done her in then and there!"
Tamzin shakes her head at Sara before she goes back to watching Mel closely, trying to answer her own questions on what to do.

Round 5:
Mel seems happy to get back into the fray as she works her way forward and it seems to dawn on Tamzin that Sara may have been right.
The blonde doing her best to get back to that body of her rival but is getting caught by jabs and straights too much now.
Before Melanie changes tact to make Tamzin's night even worse, she works the body of the blonde and Outhwaite is getting shoved back now.
Taking a page out of Sykes book, she does counter well but unlike Melanie, she is still getting hit cleanly too many times to be effective.
The fight is turning around and now Melanie looks like the cat that got the cream as she reopened the lips of her rival with another hard straight.
Tamzin looks to be slowing down as maybe the ring rust she has is finally taking effect, she is forced towards the ropes before deftly sidestepping Mel and shoving her to the ropes.
Maybe Tamzin was playing possum as she works on Mel with a range of punches as the two slug it out to a loud roar by the crowd.
Clinching up, each is slightly leaning on the other in a sweaty embrace, looking like two lovers dancing but in reality it's two rivals trying to shove the other to the ropes as they keep swapping positions.
The referee is between them once again and blood is now running from a cut under Mel's left eye, it looks on replays to have been caused by an "inadvertent" shoulder bump to her face.
Melanie doesn't look happy as she goes for Tamzin and the two fight in tight even as the bell rings, Tamzin trips Melanie and has to be held back by Sara before she dives on Sykes and risks disqualification.
Sykes looks ready to go over to Tamzin's corner and lay her out but Catherine holds her back before dragging her to her corner to calm her down.
The referee gives both fighters a little extra time since all the antics ate up most of their time to get patched up.

Round 6:
Meeting in the ring centre once again, they just brawl it out as any semblance of boxing goes out the window for pure hatred.

Both are getting bruised up and blood is staining each fighters gloves as they want to hurt the other badly right now after everything that has happened between them the last few weeks.
But Melanie lands the best shot of the fight, Tamzin has a cut on her left earbrow from a sweeping right hook and the blonde is wobbling.
The ropes hold her up but the next hook puts her down to her side and Mel looks down at her before shouting "get up you bytch!"
The referee has to shove her to a neutral corner and then he can begin his count over the downed blonde.
Tamzin looks stuck to the canvas as blood runs down her cheek to the floor and the count is up to 5, now she begins to stir and surprises everyone with her fortitude by beating the count at 9.

The referee checks her over and sees enough in her to give her a chance to fight on.
Back go the girls as Tamzin tries to match punch for punch with Melanie but a hard straight knocks her to the ropes and she gets two unanswered hooks to the head before the referee steps in to save Outhwaite anymore punishment by stopping the fight.

Winner: Melanie Sykes TKO Round 6

After:
As Tamzin is stuck leaning on the ropes as she hasn't the energy to stand up straight, Melanie roars to the crowd and pumps her fist as she does a lap of honour slowly around the ring.

Sara helps Tamzin off the ropes and to her stool as the blonde looks annoyed that she had Mel on the ropes but didn't finish the job when called upon.
The winner completes her lap and Catherine helps takes her gloves off before giving her a hug to celebrate her victory.

The tension in the air returns as Melanie heads over to the corner of Tamzin, Sara looks ready to go for her if she tries to embarrass her friend and Catherine watches her like a hawk.
Each fighter gives the other a cool hard look after the war they have been through and even look ready to go back at it.

But Melanie puts her hand out to Tamzin and says "I beat you now are you woman enough to shake my hand and put this behind us or are you going to make excuses?"

Sara looks at Tamzin knowing she's very proud and strong willed, watches her struggle to stand up before going nose to nose with Mel.

The rematch might begin now thinks the crowd as they watch the two silently stare each other down once more.

But Tamzin steps back to shake the hand of Melanie to show her respect and Melanie pulls her into a hug to try to show she doesn't really hate the blonde.
The embrace lasts over a minute as both women are heard apologizing about their actions before the fight and Melanie even offers Tamzin to come with them on a night on the tiles.

But Tamzin says "maybe when we both calm down as I think us drinking and I heard oil wrestling right might be too much for us as I am competitive" she adds a wink at that last part to try to lighten the mood.

Melanie nods and says "just for the record, I wish you had been my rival, you hurt me several times tonight and look at how hard we wanted a meaningless bout to some but to me and you, this was more then just one of my retirement bouts"
Both women hug once more before Tamzin is helped from the ring by Sara to a loud cheer from the crowd and a round of applause.

Denise Van Outen now enters the ring to a loud cheer as the head reporter for BBU T.V that is based in Wales, she's come for a statement from Melanie on her win.
After being asked about the build up, Mel replies "I think we needed to let some steam off in the build up, we are so alike and evidently she thought I was messing her around, I apologize that it seemed that way but it honestly wasn't intended"

Then about the fight itself, she answers "Tamzin is a machine, most people would not have gotten up to fight again after I put her down that second time, she proved what I thought about her"

Then the big one, whose next? "Well it's Belfast next and there is only one welterweight to fit the bill next month, Victoria Smurfitt and me will finally get it on in a ring and I can't wait to show her whose boss"

She turns to Denise and says "but tonight it is my treat that I have rented a bar nearby that specialises in oil wrestling and I know Kirsty Gallagher is here, maybe you two can get down in the oil and see whose the best in the office" winking as Denise laughs at her before they leave the ring together to talk about tonight's plans fully.
