Elizabeth Henstridge versus Lyndsy Fonseca

(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)
(Girls Friday vs Free Agent)

Intro:

Elizabeth Henstridge fights Lyndsy Fonseca in a battle of the perceived nerd vs the cool girl of the class it seems. Elizabeth made her FCBA debut against her friend Vanessa Hudgens in a fight that while she lost, had gotten peoples attention in the league. But her opponent Lyndsy was looking to dismantle her so she could get back on the path of winning after a promising start to her career in fact up till a year ago she was viewed as a future champion but that path seems in trouble thanks to her record these past two years.

At the press conference, Elizabeth was her bubbly self, while Lyndsy just looks like she wants to get this over with and get to the fighting part.

Going to hug Lyndsy, Elizabeth is met with a hand out to stop her as her fellow brunette turns to go to her seat as Henstridge looks crestfallen.

Elizabeth is asked to speak first, she starts by saying "while Lyndsy evidently doesn't like me, I still want her to know that I think she was amazing in Agent Carter" Smiling warmly at Lyndsy she adds "I know I have to come out strong against her because I mean look at her, she is stunning and extremely tough, so I will give you my all" Elizabeth waves to the sea of journalists before sitting down to a friendly round of applause.

Lyndsy shakes her head before she speaks "look Elizabeth, I know you are sweet and cuddly but this is boxing, I have come too far in my own career to lose to the likes of you" Staring at Elizabeth with certainly unfriendly intentions, she continues "as for your stable, if they think I am an easy win for you and your stablemates, they are barking up the wrong tree OK?"

Elizabeth stands up to go shake Lyndsy's hand but the Oakland native isn't interested and walks off stage to leave an embarrassed Henstridge behind.

Fight night and Elizabeth is out first to a loud cheer as her personality is winning over fans quickly in the States it seems. She is wearing a white lab coat and safety googles, so admittedly not her sexiest look but the one closest to her heart. She takes them off to reveal underneath a shield top and black combat shorts that look much hotter than that dusty lab coat. Elizabeth hugs her seconds Lauren Berlingeri and cut woman Eva Carneiro before she hears the introduction of Lyndsy.

Lyndsy is on top of the ramp and she looks certainly the part as Alice in Wonderland, she has a blue minidress, she is wearing a blonde wig down to the ring but takes it off before she enters the ring.

As she enters the ring, Elizabeth doesn't know if she thinks she looks cute or as she notices the white make up on Lyndsy's face that gives her that ghostly look, to be scared instead.

The girls get their gloves on (black for Elizabeth, blue for Lyndsy) and then their gumshields in before going to the ring centre.

Staring each other down, the referee asks for a glove touch and while Elizabeth puts her gloves out, Lyndsy bangs hers on top of them before turning and strutting off to her corner. After Elizabeth returns to her corner looking annoyed at her opponent, the referee signals for the bell to start 10 rounds of flyweight boxing.

Round 1:
Quickly both fighters come out on their toes to get at each other, both have loose guards as they throw testing jabs over the others left hand to gauge their range. Both are so similar being the same age, Lyndsy has an inch on Elizabeth and while normally a light bantamweight, she is on the top side of flyweight, like Elizabeth is. But that doesn't stop Lyndsy getting g aggressive early as she lands the first meaningful punch of the contest with a left feint then slams a right straight down the middle of Elizabeth's guard. That seems to get the Shield girls attention as she seems to focus more on where the punches are coming from. That is allowing Lyndsy to up her work rate as she springs forward with a left/right hook that Elizabeth just manages to parry. Then she follows with another jab to set up a right body shot as Lauren shouts at her fighter to start fighting back. Elizabeth seems to take heed as she slams a hook into the underside of Lyndsy's left jug to make her gasp and look even more deadly with her eyes narrowing onto their target. Both stand and trade in the ring centre to loud cheers as they fight it out with neither given an inch till Lyndsy nearly headbutts her opponent to land a stiff punch to the gut of Elizabeth. The English fighter looks slightly hurt as her face turns red but she wisely starts stepping around her opponent to make herself less of an easy target and each fighter flashes out hard single punches. The bell rings with Lyndsy almost skipping back to her corner, excited after that first round, while Elizabeth looks focused in her corner on getting back at her opponent.

Round 2:
This time Elizabeth looks to have a game plan as she lifts her left hand up more in a tighter guard and as Lyndsy thinks she has her opponent on the ropes so to speak, she is looking to strike quickly. But Elizabeth surprises a lot of people in the crowd by dodging some mean looking punches from Lyndsy to crack some counter punches into the face of her lax opponent. Quickly Lyndsy readjusts as she sees how dangerous Elizabeth can be when picking her punches and she starts to work out how to attack this
new problem in front of her. Elizabeth now is smiling as she jabs away at Lyndsy before going back to the body with some ripping shots that have Lyndsy now starting to look hurt. The American is not looking so confident anymore as the fighters trade single jabs but when she tries to land anything of note, Elizabeth is doing enough to parry or lean out the way and lean back in with a piercing straight or she works the body. It's rattling Lyndsy who can't work out what to do and Elizabeth starts pressing forward now that she sees her opponent is in some trouble to lace three unanswered punches to her head and blood runs from Lyndsy's mouth to look like Alice from Wonderland is taking a beating. Lyndsy does catch the still relative new comer again to the nose with a hard straight and another body punch to show she is still in this fight. But Elizabeth for the most part is landing the better punches before the bell ends the round. Lyndsy gets her mouth cleaned up as on closer inspection it's her bottom lip that is cut from the clean counters she is taking. While Elizabeth gets her face cleaned up but doesn't look too banged up as Lauren is giving her more advice on how to tighten up her style as she is still taking too many clean punches herself.

Round 3:
Lyndsy seems in desperation mode already as her run of results play on her mind and she quickly comes out to try and brawl with Elizabeth. But the calmer fighter is showing impressive technical skills as the first rule of boxing is not to get hit and she is doing her best to try and keep to that rule with her movement. Countering Lyndsy as she goes, it is much easier of course since Fonseca is presenting such an easy target that Lauren Berlingeri wonders if she should be helping Lyndsy as well as her own fighter. Lyndsy gets chopped to the face with a right hook and the first serious sign of trouble for Lyndsy shows as her knees visibly turn to jelly. She is trying to retreat and trips over her own feet as the referee rules a slip and points for Elizabeth to stay back till Lyndsy is up. The hurt fighter is up and after being asked if she wants to continue, she simply nods and Elizabeth's normally calm look takes on the look of a predator as she hurts her prey. Lyndsy is trying her best to cover up but Elizabeth is throwing enough leather to back her up and before she knows it, she is nearly stuck in a corner for her troubles. Sensing this, Lyndsy tries to escape but opens up her already low guard and Elizabeth like a hawk swooping on a mouse, cracks her on the chin and down goes Lyndsy late in the round. The referee signals Elizabeth to a neutral corner before he begins his count with Lyndsy on her side with glossy eyes. As the count reaches 8, she starts to stir but never had the strength to push herself up as the count of 10 is made and it's over!
Winner: Elizabeth Henstridge KO Round 3

After:
Elizabeth is quickly over to help Lyndsy sit up and checks over her opponent for tonight as medics rush in to check over the fallen fighter. Lyndsy appears to be already as she rubs her jaw and with help from Elizabeth is up on a stool to fully recover as she can be heard thanking the Brit for her help.

Elizabeth is seen smiling as she says "I told you I like you and well I love your costume for tonight if that is OK to say after we you know just fought"

She looks slightly awkward till Lyndsy looking relieved just to be awake and not completely flat our replies "thank you but maybe next year you should pick something that doesn't make you look like the Shield boxing team member"

Elizabeth bites her lip before she replies "this is the shield boxing gear we use to spar on set, I couldn't think outside the box like you so I just wore.."

Lyndsy interrupts by saying "I am joking Liz, honestly you look cute and I am sorry I was so nasty before the fight.."

Now Elizabeth interrupts with "oh I know it's part of the business, maybe I should learn to trash talk off Ming and Chloe on the set"

Laughing Lyndsy replies "please stay the way you are, there are too many bytches around here and maybe I should lighten up on the new girls since I was like you a few years ago, bright eyed and nice, don't let this grind you down OK?"

To which Elizabeth nods before the two women share a hug, maybe Henstridge could befriend every flyweight at this rate if she keeps going.

Lyndsy is helped out the ring to a round of applause as she looks tearful as even if she is happy to be friends with Elizabeth, she knows she has to hit the gym hard and start winning again.

Elizabeth on the other hand still looks embarrassed when she has to stand in the centre of the ring with her hand raised but she takes it with good graces and waves to some of her friends like Chloe Bennet at ringside before she leaves the ring with the lab coat over her shoulders in a bizarre look for a winning but one that fits her perfectly.
