Hilary Rhoda versus Megan Gale

Intro:
The next fight is between a prospect and a gatekeeper of the welterweight division as Hilary Rhoda fights Megan Gale.

Hilary won her debut fight against Bojana Krsmanovic on the last PPV in a hard fought war, Hilary hopes to make an impact quickly in the welterweight division as a certain Karlie Kloss has several months ago. For Megan Gale it is about trying to get herself back in the winning section after losing her last two fights that took part a year ago. Those fights were in the welterweight revival tournament where she came in fourth place in the order of merit but wasn't enough to save her management and at forty years old, her career is going into it's recess now. The press conference between the two women was respectful but tense as each shook the others hand, their expressions were not friendly though.


Ushered to their seats, Megan was asked to speak first and was solemn in her speech "I know this year has basically been a blank, after the revival I haven't fought and people basically thought I had retired" Then adding some fire to her words "but I am not retired quite yet and I will use this fight as my mark to show that I am far from finished, so Hilary expect an ass whooping because I am the most focused I have been in years"

Hilary nods at Megan before starting her own speech "I am looking to make a statement in this fight, Megan is highly rated in the division and has a positive record, so I am certainly not looking at her as a pushover" Staring at Megan, she continues "but as I proved against Bo, I am always happy to scrap when it comes to it, so if you think I am afraid of you, you are deadly wrong" Both fighters are ushered to stand face to face for the last set of photos and it becomes clear how similar in height and build both are.

Luckily for the organisers, there is no fireworks with both women happy to try and psyche the other out in the nose to nose stare down. Fight night, out comes Hilary first in a black basque and long black pants, she has black boots on and a long cape with white make up on. Revealing a set of fangs for show since this is the Halloween themed PPV, she is playing a vampire tonight as she jogs down to the ring with her cape in her hands behind her to add to dramatic effect. Before she enters the ring, she drops the cape off to the side and gives her plastic fangs to Lauren Berlingeri, who doesn't look exactly thrilled to hold them in her hand. Belittling her monster look, she smiles at the crowd and bows at each corner before she goes to her corner to get her gloves on and gumshield in.

Out comes Megan to a loud cheer, she is wearing a surprising costume as she is Wonder Woman for tonight!

She has the shield and sword as props along with the armour as she heads to the ring in what has to be a somewhat scary sight for Hilary and must be pissing off a certain Gal Gadot somewhere, as she is the D.C cinematic universe Wonder Woman. But as some people know, Megan was rumoured to be going to play W.W in a Justice League movie that never got made and Gal got the role when it mattered. Giving the shield and sword to an assistant at ringside, she strides with a regal air around her into the ring and Hilary is actually clapping with her gloves on the entrance of Megan and looks like a fan girl than her opponent. Megan takes the armour off with help from her seconds to reveal a red basque with a yellow Wonder Woman symbol on the centre and a blue skirt with red knickers underneath to keep her modest. She finishes the look with a set of red gloves as her hair is braided back to make her look even more like a warrior before getting her gumshield in. Megan looks all business as she heads to the ring centre and some pundits wonder if Gal is ringing her manager to sue her doppelganger.

Hilary looks like she wants to just go out with Megan to a bar and praise her on her looks but reins it in to look hard at her opponent as they go head to head.

The referee looks confused at what he is seeing but none the less reads his final instructions before asking for a glove touch. Both fighters respectful touch gloves before heading to their corners, the referee signals the bell to start 10 rounds of welterweight boxing action.

Round 1:
Off go the fighters, no real difference in height means the early exchange of jabs slam into either guard or face. Both fighters are staring hard as this fight could be a career defining one for the winner in different ways for each girl. The tempo picks up as Hilary barges into a surprised Megan, who didn't expect her younger rival to be as brash, before Rhoda connects with two hard body shots. Megan manages to connect with a straight flush to Hilary's face as the Sports Illustrated model makes a retreat to open space and Lauren can be heard shouting for Hilary to stay in tight when she gets the chance. Instead she is stuck in an early fire fight as Megan wants to prove that at forty, she is still a Wonder woman in real life. Each fighters head snaps back but to Megan's surprise, her hands are not moving as quickly as Hilary's, making you wonder how quick she thinks she is. For every one punch Megan deals out, she is eating two or three at a time and quickly she is forced to clinch up for relief. The referee doesn't allow the fighters to stay like that for long and quickly pries them apart, with the order to fight issued as soon as they are apart. Megan manages to club Hilary to the side of her ribs, making the younger woman wince before she adds a straight to get a cheer from her fans. Quickly Hilary fires back over the top with a looping left hook and right straight to make Megan have to think about her next attack. That gives Hilary a chance to drive forward to land a digging right shot to the side of the body of Megan as pundits at ringside all agree that the simple tactic against a girl like Megan is to wear her down. As the body becomes the direct target of Hilary, it seems her and her corner worked that out in the build up as Megan looks to be grimacing under the power of her opponent. The bell rings before Megan can really reply with anything of note late in the round, Hilary looks happy with her work, while Megan wants to redo that round.

Round 2:
Hilary looks to keep on top and in the early going of the round it is working, driving forward with her jab out as her measuring stick, she is able to continue landing from different angles to the body of Megan. But Megan seeing her chance cracks Hilary up the centre with a hard straight punch to set up a right hook that sends her opponents head round slightly. Hilary shakes it off but Megan quickly steps in to pound a guarding Rhoda back towards the ropes to a loud roar from the crowd and her coach. Not enjoying getting a taste of the power of Megan, Hilary starts using her footwork to get out of trouble and us her jab again to create separation. Megan is smiling behind her guard as she has Hilary backing up and she knows she can hurt her now. Each fighter lunges forward at the same time and crack each other to the face with a hard straight that knocks both back a step. Hilary recovers the quicker to dig her way to the body of Megan again to push her towards the ropes, the thuds can be heard in the crowd and Megan is gasping under the pressure. But she deftly pulls Hilary forward then as each turns around, Megan cracks Hilary again straight to that nose that is now cut on the bridge. Wincing once again, Hilary has to cover up as Megan tries to sledgehammer her way through the guard to get to the face of her opponent. Hilary is able to fight off the ropes with some good counter punches but Megan won't be held back for long as she pounces forward with a hard jab that just gets parried. The bell rings with Megan raising her gloves to the crowd who are wanting to see the old lioness it seems take down her competition. Hilary just looks annoyed at herself as tells Lauren "sorry about that" to which Lauren sternly replies "don't be sorry, get back at her and show her who is boss"

Round 3:
Hilary tries to fly out of her corner at Megan but the older fighters experience is letting her sidestep some wild punches to crack some mean looking hooks to the body. The crowd seem to be getting their wish as Megan works her way in tight to the body of Hilary, digging short sharp punches to the body of her opponent and being rewarded with a look of pain etched across Hilary's face. Pushing her away, Hilary gets a warning off the referee not to push before the fighters square up again to trade to each others body with thudding shots. Hilary now surprises Megan by stepping back quickly to land a hard straight to her forehead to snap her head back. Now Megan has to fight on the back foot for a few moments but this isn't anything new for her to do, so she is still landing some sweet counter punches. She is connecting cleanly enough that she reopens the cut on Hilary's nose once again, the horror show looks to just be beginning. Again both fighters find themselves in tight as Megan works her way the guard of Hilary to pound in some hard punches that land to sizable jugs of Rhoda, making her yelp in pain and complain to the ref. He tells Hilary to protect herself better as Megan keeps trying to crush the body of her opponent under her fists. Late in the round, Hilary just dodges a mean straight to her body before rocking Megan to the temple with a right hook that for the first time this fight, wobbles the big girl. Megan keeps her feet under her to retreat backwards but Hilary connects with a straight to the lips, making them look swelled. The bell rings with Megan dragging Hilary into a clinch, the ref is quick to separate the two but Megan does it herself and nods at Hilary, who nods back with a smile.

Round 4:
Both look slightly tentative to get stuck in at first before Hilary surprises the crowd by lunging in and slamming a straight between the gloves of Megan. That seems to set both fighters off as they get stuck in tight before Hilary creates space with a sly shoulder shove then slams a hook just below the jugs of Megan. Hilary for the first time in this fight, really seems to take the fight to Megan and this time sticks on her for as long as she is punishing her and not taking too much in return. Body shot after body shot is slowly wearing Megan down and the big Aussie has to clinch once again to stop the punishment she is enduring. The referee does his duty and quickly Hilary is closing the space to keep the pressure on Megan who seems to be wilting under the assault. But don't rule her out just yet as she manages to spear a straight to the nose of Hilary to slow down the barrage she was under. Getting some room to breath now, Megan starts looking for open spaces to move into and lands some more counter punches to keep herself in this fight. Though it is seeming to be becoming a harder task by the minute while Rhoda is looking ready to land something hard. The Americans eyes are zoned in now and she wants this knock out badly now but she is getting reckless in the late stages of this round again, giving Megan the chances to land something meaningful. The bell rings and Hilary looks depressed that she couldn't turn her strongest round into something like a knock out. Megan looks relieved to get a rest as she shuts her eyes and tries to forget the pain around her body and the swelling to her own face. Hilary gets her face washed once again and her cut on her nose fixed up as best as it can before the next round starts.

Round 5:
Both women's eyes meet as the bell rings and now there is no holding back it seems as they charge out their corners to fight. Hilary strikes first with a hard jab but her next punch is disrupted as Megan connects to that cut once again with another straight, it's like she has her fists trained for specifically Hilary's nose. Both fighters just brawl in the ring centre, they do parry some shots but it is mostly unbridled aggression from both fighters wanting to make a mark on the other. Each takes a step back as blood seeps from that nose of Hilary but for Megan she now has a cut above her left eyebrow and the doctor is called to check it out. He does his checks and sees no reason yet to stop the fight but as always does warn the fighter to not let it get worse. As the fight resumes, Megan doesn't seem interested in that as she steps up to Hilary and is right back in tight to her in a rage at being cut. At first, Megan looks in charge with two stiff body blows but Hilary fights through the pain to slam a straight to that cut to make Megan have to step back and block the next punch. As they do a quick circle, each fighter is staring holes through the other from behind their gloves and look ready to toss the gloves off to batter each other senseless. Instead they square up again to trade it seems but late in the round, Hilary leans back out the way of a straight, before landing a hook to Megan's left cheek. Down goes the stunning Aussie, her face a mask of pain as she holds her bloody left cheek as she lays on her side. Hilary fights the urge to call Megan a bytch as her temper nearly overrides her normal demeanor, instead walking to her corner with eyes purely on Megan. The referee starts his count and Megan is up at 8 to a loud cheer, getting checked by the ref and the doctor, she is warned to be careful but she is deemed OK to fight. Megan has to protect herself from another onslaught as the bell most likely saves her from a trip to the canvas again. Hilary calmly returns to her corner but is screaming inside at not taking her chance to win this when she had it. In the other corner, it is fanatic as they work to get a hurt Megan ready for another round as the proud Aussie won't quit on her stool.

Round 6:
Megan does come out and seems to be fighting on instinct as she flicks her jab out at Hilary but is missing down to the swelling on her left eye. Quickly once she gets her chance, the vampire for tonight smells blood and goes straight for the source with her Straight right slamming into that eye and knocking back Megan to the ropes. Again Megan tries to get herself off the ropes but a right hook puts her down once again to her side in a hard fall. Megan rolls to her back under the ropes as the referee counts and reaches 10 with Gale just blinking with her good right eye at the lights.
Winner: Hilary Rhoda KO Round 6

After:
Hilary leans against the ropes with her head held high as she let's the pain wash over her, she knows she has been in a war and that makes her feel even more happy that she won. On the other side of the ring, Megan is helped from under the ropes to get onto her stool as she hasn't the strength to stand herself. Staring at the canvas, she is thinking of the headlines in BWO magazine and other celeb publications about this result. For the first real time since she was dropped by her management, she wonders if she is too old to fight, should she let the young guns take over. She's knocked out her train of thought by a tap on her shoulder and as she looks up, she sees Hilary standing next to her with her glove out for her to touch.

Megan looks as if she is feeling too sorry for herself to lift her glove up but Hilary says sincerely "thank you for the fight, that was so tough for me"

Nodding Megan bumps fists with Hilary and replies "you'll do well kid, just keep your guard up more OK" Hilary laughs and then kneels down to hug Megan, she whispers "if you ever want a rematch, I would love to fight you anytime"

Megan whispers "forget little old me babe" but Hilary quickly replies "don't you dare say that" which startles the Aussie.

Hilary says "you gave me a hell of a fight out there; so lift your head up and be proud of who you are because there are girls half your age that couldn't live with you in here!" Smiling for the first time tonight, Megan says "I liked the first bit, not so much the half age bit but thank you for the pep talk, as long as I get work then I will keep giving my all right."

Helping up Megan, Hilary leads Megan to the ring centre so both can get a round of applause for the fight before Hilary whispers "can Wonder woman play in our locker room tonight? I think we both earned a drink" Megan nods before both women with help from their corner personal, leave the ring together for said drinks to celebrate a new friendship in the ring.
